MK tree lighting?

Has anyone seen the tree lighting ceremony in townsquare at MK? Did they even have it last year? I just found out I have been cast as one of the gingerbread men in it, and I'm curious about what I might be doing.

Hi, Angie. I love the Christmas tree lighting at Magic Kingdom. Last year, they started the annoucements and singing on the second story balcony porch of the train station.

One day, Scoop was the male annoucer and and another lady was his partner. They led singing and invited some children that they had chosen to join them along with the gingerbread character and other characters to help countdown to lighting the tree.

It was a great way to start the evening.

Do you have a schedule? Will they be doing the tree lighting ceremony on nights of MVMCP? What time is the tree lighting ceremony?

Anyone who has been before, what is a good spot to get to watch and how early do we need to be there?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. This is our first time at WDW during December and we can't wait for all those special touches of magic.

Last year our kids got asked to participate in the ceremony, but they broke my heart and declined.

It was at 5:30 in previous years, so it's early enough to have everynight. The characters are all up on the train platform. Anywhere in Town Square is good. If you get there early, the flag retreat is at 5:00, that is nice to see.
