MK Train upon arrival?

A member of my group has requested that her part of the family ride the train at park opening. I have never thought that this was a good use of time if you are going to get to the park at rope drop. Is there something I am missing?

No that's not a good use of time unless they're going to ride to the back of the park and get off and start there.

If you are referring about rope drop, no...that is not a good use of time. They are better served starting with more popular attractions which will draw larger standby times later in the day.

It's better to use the first couple hours for rides when you enter the park at opening. Then, later when the lines get longer and the feet get tired it's time to ride around the park on the train.

I think her plan is to go into the gates at rope drop and ride the train. She's been reading a travel book that she checked out of the library as her planning guide. I'm not sure what year it is. Perhaps its to avoid walking to Fantasy Land? Perhaps she misunderstood the welcome show since it takes place on the platform and thinks it is on the train's initial departure? Just wanted to get information from you guys before I asked her about it. Thanks!

We will be riding the train at rope drop to Frontierland but getting off to ride Splash and Big Thunder Mountain.
If they are getting on the train just to ride it then that would not be worth the time. You can ride the train anytime during the day.
Are you sure she is not talking about riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train?

We have never done it but have read it is if your going to Frontierland. The trains goes from Main Street to Frontierland then Fantasyland. If your wanting to be one of the first in line at a ride in Fantasyland it is faster to walk at rope drop.

If you can walk at a quick pace, whether it's fantasyland or frontier land, you'd beat the train. She'd have to sit there for a minute and let others get on and all that. If it was quicker, the train would work out..but I wouldn't take the train first thing in the morning

Our plan after we arrived in MK was to ride the train from Main Street station to get to Fantasy Land. Unfortunately, we missed the train by seconds. So we had to wait quite a few minutes for the next train. Then we had to wait at Frontierland for passengers to get off and on. By the time we got to Fantasyland, I realized it would have been faster to walk.

Taking the train is good, though, for mid day when you need to cross the park and you are tired. For example, if you finish in Fantasyland, its better to take a break and ride to Frontier Land.

Can she just watch a Youtube video of the railroad to get an idea where everything is before her trip. You should probably tell her that the WDW railroad is blocked by trees so you wouldn't really get to see too much along the route. A park map and/or searching on Youtube "Magic Kingdom walkthrough" would do her wonders.

Definitely let her know you don't get to see much of the park from the train. It's mainly all covered by trees and little sets of Indians and animals they have. She'd be disappointed if she gets on the train to try to get a feel for the layout of the park.

It'd be better to google map the park

I let her know when she told me. This trip has her very overwhelmed. She's allowing me to do the planning, but is making suggestions such as this and is questioning everything. I don't think she has ever been to a large theme park.
