To those of you that this affects who are really upset, I am very sorry. Quite honestly anytime you are at Disney, there is always something being refurbished, upgraded, replaced, etc. I understand that it is your wedding and the castle shots are a part of what makes Disney a special location for a wedding. But, Disney has to do their refurbishment sometime or we would all be complaining about the wear and tear of the park. It is always going to affect "someone". Would it be better if Disney said "okay the castle is under refurbishment for 3 months so we aren't going to have any DFTW or there will be no MK photo shoots."
As someone else said, it isn't something to get overly upset and bitter about as it is not something that we can change. Your options are to skip the MK photo shoot, schedule it for the 2 year timeframe after your wedding or just do the shoot and have your pictures digitally edited--and quite honestly they edited all of our castle shots, not just one of them.
For those of you who don't want your photos digitally enhanced, keep in mind that when they digitally fill in a "clean" picture of the castle, you are getting one of the best shots that they have. On any particular day there may be something in the background of your picture that no one notices until you see the shot. At least with a digitally enhanced picture, you know that it is one they have checked out and approved to be one of their best castle shots.
Wishing all of you much luck with your decision and a wonderfully magical DFTW or vow renewal!
