MK on NYE

Hi all

Im new to the boards, and have done lots of reading, and lots of learning over the last few days.

I have read quiet a bit about MK on NYE. I am travelling from Australia, and will be spending NYE in MK. We will be getting to the park on opening, and spending the whole day, until closing, there. I hear that the park fills around mid morning, so we dont want to miss out.

My question is, are the queues for the rides going to be way too long to even bother. We will have an opportunity to visit the park for about 4 hours on the evening of 28 Dec, so we were thinking we may go then as well, and do some of the rides.

What do people think?? We want to make the most of our time.

I would plan to visit MK the other day also. NYE is going to be very crowded. Last year they celebrated NYE two days with the fireworks and everything.

NYE is one of the two busiest days of the year. I (and my DBF - no kids) will taking 2 days in MK, Dec 23 and Dec 31. I will be using a touring plan on the 23rd and picking up things we missed on the 31. They have touring plans for half days, which I recommend you do on the 28. If you expect to get a lot covered on the 31, you may be disappointed.

I highly recommend making ADRs for places you want to eat or you could wait a very long time just to be served on the 31st. You can make them now.

I hear it is difficult even to move around on that day, so I am going to immediately get FPs to the rides I want, as those run out early in the day also. Personally, I will be going on that day with a lot of patience and low expectations of how much ground we can cover. I should have most of it out of the way from going on the 23rd. I honestly just want to be around all of that magic that day. We are having dinner in the castle at 8:15, then just hanging around outside the castle to watch the fireworks.

One last thing - get lots of sleep the night before. The 31 will be a long day.

First Welcome to the DIS I would also opt for the other day as well. Are you getting multi day passes? Will you be there any time after NYE? The park will really clear out after January 2nd or 3rd. I've never been there on NYE but I bet it will be a blast, they usually televise it. Hope you have a great time!

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Its going to be a bit of a whirl wind trip for us. We have 2 weeks off work, will fly from Sydney to Orlando on 28 Dec, then have 29 - 31 in Orlando, fly to Miami on the 1st Jan for a 6 night Caribbean criuse starting 2 Jan, then fly home on 9 Jan.

Really looking forward to it, and we want to make the most of our limited time in WDW.

I know the crowds will be huge, but Im sure the atmosphere will be just as huge as well.
