MK May hours extended with Spectro!

Darn darn darn.... We arrive on May 24th and are there till the 31st. I didn't want to waste a pass on the 24th since we don't get into orlando until 1:00pm but I sooooooooo want to see Spectro Magic. Do u think they might add one more day while we wre their?

Is it just me, or does it seem odd that they are extending hours on a Tuesday night AND including a Spectro and FiTS? What am I missing? Is there something special about Tuesday May 20th?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for responding...I am stressed. We are not resort guests, and therefore are doing MK on our first day, the 5th because the girls MUST do this first. We got into CRT for breakfast on the 6th, of course, so we're planning to eat and run as it's an early day for resort guests. We've planned the rest of the 6th for Epcot, including dinner in World Showcase and the evening show there. Oh yeah, having lunch at CP on the 5th. So....see? I really think I'll forget Spectro and go as planned - the rest of the week is planned out as well. I'm certain we can't go more than a year or two without a Disney visit after the girls catch the magic...

Love to hear anyone's opinion! Thanks so much!

Yippie!!! Now I'll be able to see Spectro and FitS and do an e-night! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Hi timbud

looks like you have a very solid plan.We went to mk on a wed and two ee mornings as well, and our fav was the wed. We noticed that there were half the number of people in the park all day long, so when you went to get a fast pass, it was usually only forty minutes away, but on the ee day, it was about 2-3 hours away..... I missed spectro too because the night we had planned to see it in March, it got cancelled.....so maybe my opinion on whether or not to see it is not the best but..... I would really not change your plans... if you plan to come back to disney in a year or two, well, then you can just make it a priority.
So dont sweat it, just go and have a great time.

Great news for me and my family also.

I called last night (just to be sure) and confirmed the extended hours on May 1st. We're staying for 8 days starting this upcoming Saturday (26th), and according the the previous park hours would have missed Spectromagic and Fantasy in the Sky fireworks. Now with the extened hours we get to see both on the 1st! GREAT!!!

We also had to change some of our Priority seating arrangements, which wasn't a problem.

Five days and counting! We cannot wait any longer!!

Exactly Mickey_Maniac! What about the 20th? And I don't understand why the MK would close at 7pm on the start of the long weekend. Since we are on the Wonder from Sunday to Thursday, Friday was our only park day so I am disappointed that there is no Spectro or Fireworks.

jnl,

I am in the same boat as you are...except we arriving on May 28th, so if they don't add Spectro for another night in late May, we'll miss it altogether. :( I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I think they picked Tuesdays because MK closes early on Fridays May 2 & 9 due to Grad Nights. Usually it's Friday & Saturday. Maybe they thought more people could see it if they spread out the days.

Drama Tech - it seems odd that they would not have extended the hours into Memorial Day weekend, I bet they will closer to the date.

That's what I figure, too, Debbie...seems like longer hours and more events would be needed because of the attendance increase for the holidays.

Thanks for your opinion...I guess I'll go with the plan and not worry. I'm sure everything will be so special, and the girls can't miss something they've never experienced, can they?!? Now to just get DH excited about something...anything!!!

I just checked the official WDW website and they have the new hours posted. It's great, we now get to see SpectroMagic during our trip!

For what it's worth when my girls were smaller they thought waiting/watching parades time wasted. Now they are much older they still think so. Except for seeing them behind the scenes. I wouldn't change my plans either. Spectro is nice....but we only watch a parade if it is really, really convienent to what we are already doing.
About your hubby, my dad was seriously not excited to go to WDW a couple of years ago. Now when some one asks about the trip my mom can't even get a word in edgewise. Just give him a little time to feel the magic........

Hi all

I just noticed on tourguidemikes site that the water park hours have also changed in may for the better. I have not seen this posted anywhere, so I thought I would mention it here for anyone who is going in may.....I cant remember exactly what it is, but I think that typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach are only closed three days out of the month, instead of 9 or 10days that was originally posted on the official site.
Also, his theory on the lack of hours and entertainment, that since the March fiasco when everybody was up in arms about all the entertainment cuts, Disney's Philosophy is 'people are happier if you give them something more than take something away" so Disney is giving miserable hours to start with and keeps on adding, so far that seems to be the way it is going. For those of you going at the end of may, keep checking those hours, you may get your spectro wish.....(they added FITS on the 28th or april I believe just a day or two ago......)

Ah yes the theory of set expectations low and then exceed them....

Thanks
Jason

We'll take it, whatever their theory might be!!

Uhmmm
I hope nobody was planning to do fantasmic on May 2nd, it got cancelled and the park closes at 6pm....

I am so excited!!! The official site had the new hours and we will get to see Spectro on May 20!!!:D I haven't seen it since 1980 and I think it was called something else. It will be the 1st time for my DH and DD. I can't wait. :bounce: :bounce:
Here's to hoping they don't change them again!!

Anyone know why MGM would close at 6:00pm on a Friday night?
