MK last night on DDP help w/choice

Going w/DD1 & DD4 & DH + MIL (picky)&FIL(great cook)...Will be on DP & I booked inlaws Yachtsman & French to go solo...the last night we want to eat together & go to MK (either before or after dinner). Will need to dinner around 6 & so I booked O'hana's, now I'm worried. Since we aren't eating together but one other meal (Cbreakfast@MGM), I don't want this to be a bomb!

Any suggestions that would be good for kids & the picky in laws? I considered changing to Liberty Tree but I don't know...I've always wanted to try O'hana...hate to do the chaos of Chef Mickey's but maybe it would be safer.

I have the same problem, sort of. We are going w/ our parents a week in December but we are eating all our meals together. I just wanted our last night at MK to be special too. I ended up booking at Tonys. I heard some very good reviews and some bad reviews. But, we like Sci Fi and there are lots of bad reviews there too. Anyway, the first time we went to Sci Fi, I kind of took notes on what people had said was not good to order vs what was good to order. Then we stuck with that. My dad really loved his meal. So I am doing the same with Tonys. I have heard that the Chicken Florentine is really good, for example, so I will suggest to everyone plus anything else that I read is good. Plus, I made the ressie early in hopes that it is not a mad house yet. Actually, I have done that with all my ressies. I have a ressie w/ Ohana our first night at the World. We have not been there before.

Now, we had reservations in the Castle last year for dinner. I tried to plan it during the fireworks. Well we ended up w/ dinner done right when the fireworks started and we walked out and had the most awesome view. They will not let you leave the castle so we were right there where some shot up! It was the most perfect ending to our trip. But now Cindy's take 2 table services~! The food was very good and I think your parents would really love it.

We are doing 'Ohana on our last night before going over to MK. I had thought of Chef Mickey's, as this is our normal tradition, but wanted to do something a bit different. We have not tried 'Ohana since the menu change, but it always used to be a favorite. I've decided to just go ahead and give it a try.

If you're really worried, why not give the choice to the inlaws. Give them a basic blurb/pros and cons on O'hana's, Chef Mickeys, and a few other places around that area, and let them choose. That way if they don't like it, they can't blame it on you

(personally, if they are "foodies" and you've got the $, I'd do something like Artist Point at WL, then take the boat over to MK)

My niece and I enjoyed Liberty Tree last month. It's preplated so there's not alot of choices like you would get at Chef Mickey's. Chef Mickey's is loud but fun, would they like that? I've never done ohanna.

How about Crystal Palace? We had lunch there, it's a buffet so you get alot of choices.

Yeah, I would also be concerned about "picky" in-laws and 'Ohana. It's more about the show, there, which is good for the kids, and good fun, truly, but the expectations on the food need to be commensurately low. I wouldn't feel Chef Mickey's is better. Liberty Tree Tavern would be a much better choice, IMHO, if they pickiness is indeed with regard to "adventurous" cuisine. If the pickiness is a quality thing, then none of these choices really do the trick. If a character meal is called for, I'd aim for 1900 Park Fare or Crystal Palace instead.

Though the atmosphere at 'Ohanas is wonderful, many of the food items are less than desireable. Many folks have reported dry meats, etc... and our experience is no different. The best part about that meal was 1. the view, 2. the chicken wing appetizers, 3. dp liked the shrimp appetizer, 4. the bread pudding....

As an alternative, you might consider Kona Cafe. Doesn't have the view, but great food and service. Some other options might be the Grand Floridian Cafe and Whispering Canyon (if you think they'd like that type of food and entertainment).

I wouldn't be worried about 'Ohana for the picky eater. You have the sides that come out first, salad, potatoes, green beans etc. Then its the meat. If they like meat, steak, shrimp, sausage, it should be good I would think. My girls think there is no other food other than chicken strips and fries, and they ate the meat, and salad, sticky wings at 'Ohana.
