What year (if ever) will MK reach full capacity at rope drop everyday?
(or at least by midmorning...)

Anyone with knowledge of attendance levels over time want to hazard a guess?

Crowds will only grow. Assume MK never expands.

I'm no expert on attendance levels, but I'd say the MK will never reach capacity at rope drop. And never by mid morning or even late morning on a daily basis.

I doubt crowds will ever grow that large.

Not MK, but I would guess that Hollywood studios will reach capacity at rope drop on the day they open Star Wars land.

ITA with this. The MK's attendance isn't growing rapidly enough to make this a concern, and anyone who has been at RD knows that the park eats the crowds pretty handily at opening.

Disney would never let that happen. Simple business practices of supply and demand...they would expand, increase prices...to maximize revenue...not turn away thousands of paying customers...

I'm going the opposite way and saying that it could happen any day the week between Christmas and New Years. Probably not at rope drop, but by mid morning especially Christmas Day and New Years Eve day by between 10-11 it could close. As a matter of fact it did last year on New Years Eve day.

I'm pretty sure that when we were there in Dec 2010 we heard it closed by 10:00ish on Dec 25th and 11:00ish on 31st. Did re-open during the day though

I will say that on the days MK does close to capacity (so around Easter and the holidays), it generally closes between 10 and 11am. I know that's not right after opening and might be out of your mid-morning window but just something interesting to note.

Also, it's worth noting that last year MK (the only park to see a phase closure since 2011 for the most part) only closed to capacity two or three days during the holiday season, compared to the 5-7 days we generally see. Now, this wasn't because of lower crowds than usual but rather the added capacity with New Fantasyland's full effects (they were finally able to get full use of its capacity) and FP+ redistributing crowds. Disney definitely took note of this.

I guess the turnstile process itself would likely prevent a Full capacity at Rope Drop to happen. The number for closure would take sometime just to get people in.

I think it would also require Pixar Land with the Star Wars Land but yes if those two areas were added at to DHS it would hit max capacity.

But the OP said capacity at RD every single day. Even adding those would not crush DHS the weeks after Labor Day. Simply not enough vacationers.

Got it. Even MK is a long way from every day. I think if MK ever got to the point of capacity every single day you would see a fifth gate being built. You figure right now it is 10 days or less a year. I have been Easter week (not Easter Day) and it was busy but not capacity busy.

We drove to FW 2 years ago on the 4th of July around 10am, there were flashing signs that read MK closed to capacity down World Drive.
