Hi

Planning on going Oct 4th for a day at MK.

Party night so it closes at 6:00pm

Thought maybe to buy party tickets as well.

I believe we can accomplish everything we want by 6pm, but all of a sudden this thought came to mind.

I am from a country where we don’t celebrate Halloween, but we are familiar with the tradition and spirit.

Thought maybe the kids would enjoy it (7,10,12)?!

Does it even make sense (leaving the tickets cost a side), rope drop MK and stay all day? Or split the day and come back later? Do a later arrival? Or this whole thing is insane?

Thx in advance guys.
Appreciate it.

We are doing this on October 25 but it's just DH and I. We are doing a late breakfast at the GF at 11:45 am, heading over to the MK after, and staying for MNSSHP. I think it depends on your kids and how tired they get. I probably wouldn't show up for RD and stay all the way until the end of MNSSHP. Are you morning people? If so, you could show up for RD and take an afternoon break. If you're not morning people, you could show up at say noon or 1 pm and stay for MNSSHP.

I am doing exactly what you described in Rope Drop to the final moment of the party all in a day. That being said, my children are much older and we are fierce when it comes to MK. So, your alternate idea of Rope Drop 'til early afternoon, take a break, and then return for the party at 4:00 is also a great idea. I hope you have a wonderful time experiencing Halloween...! :jester:pirate::clown::butterfly:wizard:princess::smickey:

It's not insane! I would think about the schedule that you think would best suit your kids and go for it! We always do MK and MNSSHP on the same day, but we do a later start as my DS10 couldn't do RD until a midnight close. We will probably arrive around 11 am/noon and stay until right after the fireworks. We also schedule an early TS dinner to use as our break. By doing this, we are able to get everything in MK done at a leisurely pace and then are able to really enjoy the party offerings without having to worry about rides too much. It's really fun! I think you will enjoy it! We went to a theme park in Norway a few years ago and went on a train ride that was based on a very famous Norwegian children's TV show. We had absolutely NO IDEA what was going on, but we really enjoyed being a part of something that was so uniquely Norwegian. I think you will enjoy Halloween!

Thanks for all the replies guys.

My main concern is doing 7DMT without having to wait too long in line, hence the RD. For the rest of the rides we will be covered with a good plan and FP+

We have no problem going in early, we plan on RD the other parks as well.

This is our last day in Orlando, finishing with MK.

If we do a later arrival and not and RD will the lines for 7DMT? or at the party it will be much shorter anyway?

What about costumes? If we stay at the park the whole day? If we come back at 4pm we will be allowed to enter all dressed up?

Would you recommend buy tickets already (Oct 4th) or to wait and see if no Hurricane or something like that is on the horizon.

Thank you

Yes, it can be done. In our younger days we could have done it but we have always preferred to have more of a rest day in the morning so we can get the most out of our evening without getting too tired.

Personally we have never found the lines at MNSSHP to be a good way to experiences the rides. If you spend your time doing rides you will miss out on the special Halloween events/shows etc. The only ride we ever do at MNSSHP is the Haunted Mansion - we spend the rest of our time visiting the characters, watching the shows/parade, doing the special Photo Pass photos, and just kind of enjoying the atmosphere. If you search online you can find one of the park guides for MNSSHP so you can see the amount of time you would need to spend if you want to experience all of the special party events vs. the amount of time you would have for rides.

When I see posts from people who have been disappointed in MNSSHP or thought it was a waste of money it is typically from people who were hoping/expecting the park would not be crowded at all and that they would have little to no wait for the rides. Those who seem to enjoy it the most were there to experience the Halloween events and don't care if they don't get to do many rides. As long as you know what to expect and are realistic you will have a good time.

Yes, you can come back at 4:00 in costume. You will see lots of fun costumes but also lots of people not wearing a costume. We never dress up just for comfort's sake but love to see everyone else all dressed up - some people are crazy creative with their costumes!!

We did MK day + Christmas party last year and LOVED it. We enjoyed the quieter park during the day, and in the evening had a good mix of party entertainment and short lines. We found the rides to be mainly walk-on during the party, so I guess our experience was different from your friends, in a good way.

If you don't have FP+ for 7DMT and don't do it at RD, yes, you will encounter lines all day and even at the party (though they will be slightly shorter at the party). If you are planning RD, I would do 7DMT then.

If you want to stay at the park the whole day, but not wear costumes the whole day, you could always store costumes in a MK locker and just change later. If you enter at 4 pm, you can be in costume. Make sure to check the WDW costume guidelines.

We are going Aug. 24 and I just bought our tickets yesterday.

My dd and I did it last year. Arrived at Magic Kingdom around 9:00 am and left around midnight. We took a longer lunch break at Pecos Bill and took a break waiting for hocus pocus. Had a great day!
