hiya!

I've been away from the boards for a bit and I seem to have missed loads! I can't believe your FMIL. I'm shocked and appalled by how she's behavings, well done to you for standing up to her!

Btw your plans are coming along nicely and I promise not to leave it too long before posting on your PJ again xxx

Well, the evening of the 25th DF's father called him and left him a message asking when he would be coming by to "talk about the rehearsal dinner and emails". Unfortunately, DF has been unable to have that conversation yet because he has been house/dog sitting for a friend and then, thanks to Hurricane Irene, the friend's flight back got cancelled requiring DF to stay for an extra two days.

Anyway, DF, is currently home and is (or should be) having that "talk" right now as we speak.

I sure hope he's stays firm and backs me up. Keep your fingers crossed. I'll let you know how it turned out as soon as I hear back from Nathan.

(Oh boy, my stomach is twisting in knots)

I forgot to mention that I have not, personally, received any response back from the FMIL.

Ugh, Michelle .... I am so sorry for your FMIL drama! I hope "the talk" went well tonight!

I'm an old married lady with 20 years of experience with a *very difficult* MIL and SIL (her daughter). I won't bore you with endless horror stories, but suffice it to say, in 21 years of my being with her son, she's never once invited me over alone or out to lunch, or asked if I wanted to go shopping or do stuff normal MILs and DILs do. However, I think both she and I would say that we have a pretty good relationship, even though we're not close.

If you're interested in a bit of advice, I highly recommend establishing *firm* boundaries and making sure your df is on board (which it sounds like is already the case! :thumbsup2 ). Be prepared to endure awkward times, and don't be afraid to keep your distance for a time if necessary. I am the mother of her only grandchild and we knocked heads *plenty* of times over the years in regards to how dh and I chose to raise him (180 degrees differently than the way dh was raised), but she found herself on the receiving ends of compliments for years from others on her grandson, so she finally decided our methods couldn't be all bad, LOL! And now that our son's grown and she can see that dh and I have a successful marriage, she and I have virtually no conflict anymore. Plus, I've always made an effort to include her and extended "olive branches" over the years when possible, and I think that helped, too.

So hang in there, stick to your guns, and it *will* work out!! :goodvibes Keep us posted -- we're all pulling for you!

i hope everything went okay. i really do. i hope that your DF stands up to his family better than mine does and everything works out. keep us updated and stay strong!!

On a brighter note, I forgot to mention in my last update that we had signed a contract with Kathryn Flocken to do our guest silhouettes and we get a copy of each of them that will be placed in a "guestbook" for the guest to sign. :lovestruc

So sorry to hear about your FMIL troubles!! We just started to plan our wedding and DF's family is pretty un-involved at this point, which I am okay with!! Good job sticking up to her for what you want for YOUR wedding!

What do you mean by guest silhouettes? Someone will be doing silhouette's at your wedding then guests can sign under them? That sounds AWESOME if that is what you mean!? :)

I am so sorry about you FMIL drama. I just don't how someone can act like that. You would think she would want her son to have what he wants. Sheesh. I hope the talk went well keep us updated!!

Ooh MIL can be such a headache :headache:. I really hope the talk went well. Sending you some pixie dust :tinker:

Hi!! I'm sorry I haven't updated this in a while and left you all hanging. I've had quite a lot happen in between then and now and I need some time to collect myself. Hahaha, I thought I was going to lose it there for a while.
I'm just going to give a quick update because I don't have a lot of time. I leave to go down for my planning session Tuesday and I have a lot to get done before then so details will have to wait till I get back. (I'll be sure to take plenty of pics).

I don't have a real answer on what happened with the rehearsal dinner. The FILs were being so difficult about it that I JUST recently (as in two days ago) threw my hands in the air saying "Just do whatever you want. I don't care anymore!" (but not in those words. Don't worry, I was tactful). So as of today, I don't know what's going on with the rehearsal dinner. I put it in the in-laws hands and I'm not going to worry or fret about it anymore. I'll do HDDR with my family as some point in are trip so I'm happy.

My dress has also been a MAJOR source of stress for me. If you remember a year and a half ago I bought a dress from Priscilla of Boston but we were waiting to have them start make it till this April hoping that I would lose some weight by then (and I was down 13lbs but then the Thanksgiving came, then Christmas, New Years...etc, well, I'm sure you all know what Holidays do to diets). Anyway, I put it all back on so unfortunately my dress size remained the same but at least the dress hasn't been sitting around collecting dust and stuff all this time...or at least that's what I thought till I received an email from Priscilla of Boston saying they were closing. And, by "closing" I mean "closing-for-good-all-their-locations-everywhere"-closing. :scared1:

I don't have my dress yet and I wondered what that meant for me so I called their store in Boston (the one where I purchased my dress from) to try to get some answers but their line was continuously busy (hmmm, I wonder why) so I made an impromptu trip down their with my parents (it's only an hour or so drive) to find out what was going on. Anyway, i'll elaborate more on this when I get back to but let's just say after the leaving the store an hour later in tears my dress is riding on the hopes and the word of a corporate POB employee. (insert a banging head on wall smilie here).

I'd love to elaborate more but I'm out of time. I got to get back to getting things ready for my PS trip. (Oh my gosh, I thought this day would NEVER come!!!)
I will be brining my laptop so if I have the chance I'll try to keep you up-to-date on my trip, which also includes meeting Tim Herring (our officiant) and having my hair and make up trial with Patricia Lejeune !! (At least my veil had come in).

Hope you all are doing well! (I've got to catch up on all your news too!)
Talk to you soon!!!!!!!!

Congrats on being 6 months away! But I feel so bad for you dealing with so much stress. First the FILs, now the dress. That is just awful but I will keep my fingers crossed that it will work out!

Try not to worry about it and have a wonderful time at your planning session!!

good luck with your PS!!! You must be so excited! So sorry about your "dress stress." I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Surely you should at lest get a good deal on it?

Have fun in Florida!!

Ah! Congratulations on 6 months! I can't wait to hear all about your PS!:goodvibes

I'm sorry the MIL/RD situation never got resolved. :( That really bites. And I REALLY hope your dress dilemma gets solved. My fingers are crossed for you!
