Mixing booster shots???

My husband & I got Pfizer (original series, and booster). Only I had some side effects from the second shot (fell asleep and upset stomach). But it only lasted about an hour. Other than that - just the "regular" sore spot on arm that I get from any vaccination.

Getting poked with a needle will do that.

If you have a 16 or 17 year old they are now eligible for a booster with Pfizer as the FDA just authorized this. Same timeline of it must be 6 months post 2nd dose for eligibility. Although the discussion is surrounding mixing, with the under 18 year old crowd there is no option to mix at this time in the U.S. as only Pfizer is authorized for under 18.

When I was listening to NPR and BBC World News talk about this a few weeks ago, the news I heard was that it didn't matter. And in fact, if you had the J&J shot originally, it would be better to get the Pfizer or Moderna booster than a J&J booster.

The pharmacies haven't yet updated their criteria for qualification, so it will probably still be a few days before people can actually schedule this age group.

Maybe. Each area is different. Hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, county health departments, etc so some may be ready immediately others next week or the week after or the week after.

Regardless the point of the post was just to alert people regarding eligibility of boosters. We all know by this point eligibility does not equal access :)

We got J&J late April. We went for our yearly physicals this week - my doctor told us J&J should have been two does to begin with. We got a J&J "booster" on Wed. I had a such stronger reaction this time - fever, chills, aches, small amount of blood when I blow my nose. I still feel "off" today - hope it means it's working.

Got the Moderna booster yesterday after 2 Pfizer doses. I also got a Flu vaccine at the same time. Other than my COVID arm feeling like someone punched me, I've had no reaction. I was preparing for a reaction, since my youngest daughter had reactions after her second and booster Moderna.

It's almost 4 weeks since the booster and my sinuses are still bothering me. Guess it's back to the doctor this week. :-(
