Golden Syrup - AKA Treacle...
At last! :cool1: I have always wondered what treacle was, ever since I first read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. This is a great thread, so educational. :teacher:

Hope you're having a nice road trip :moped: Twinkers, can't wait until you get back and get us all an update.

TwinkieDaddy-
Dude, I like the idea of boxer shorts in the hot tub, however that ended 10 years ago. :groom:
I only have 2 swimtrunks, one the wife picked out that are long and flowery. The other one is from over 20 years ago and I am proud to say they still fit. They are cool and contain lime green so I think I'll bring those to Orlando this September! I'll have to switch them with the ones that are already packed. Dont tell UM. She likes the dorky ones with the flowers.

Dude your posting that here and hope UM won't find out??? If she Don't read it herself either TM or SO will tell her.

DON'T PANIC

Oh, I know what he's up to. The "dorky" ones look good. The neon multi-color ones that have a smidge of lime are way too snug in a not good way. What-ever. Wear them.

Unless the swimtrunks in question meet with a horrible "accident" between now and then :confused3

Goodness UM! Please help your DH out! I wouldn't want to be forced to report him to the Crotch Police!!

And, umm... Goofy4UM? NEON trunks? You do realize 1983 was quite a while ago? (Hammer time!)

Just sayin'... ;)

LUVmyBoys- HE ALSO HAS HAMMA' Pants...aka: parachut pants. I kid you not! Somehow over the years their not as "parachutty" as the were in their glory.

The neon trunks look like the one Dangle wears on Reno 911 (Comedy Central- Tevo it so you dont miss DIS time!) They are disturbing.

See What I've reduced your Trip Report to, Twinkie???

Dont leave me in charge ever again.

For some reason Goofy4UM is going by NotTalkingtoUM at the moment.

This gets better and better!! Entertaining without even a new installment!!! :happytv:

Help!! I must be doing something wrong. I subbed to this thread and now I cant find any post beyond page 3. When I use the link on my notification emails, all I can read is that last post. How do I get to the rest of the thread?

Thanks in advance for your help.

TwinkieMama,

Just wanted to say, all joking aside, that I'm really enjoying your report! Your DS sounds a lot like my oldest (you know, back in the "No, you can't get dirty, Take a bath every night, Eat 5 servings of fruits & veggies" days).Sensitive, loving, intelligent, & a bit timid describe my oldest perfectly.

With DS 2, I am more... let's go with lenient, shall we? Dora fruit snacks count toward the fruit & veggie total, right? ;)

I love your writing style-- you're good at transporting us into the moment! I can almost see you in your self-imposed time out! There wasn't by chance any pouting going on, was there? 'Cause that'd be me! I can be very mature when I'm annoyed/angry/ready to kill DH!

Anyway, I think the best part of your report is knowing that there are more trips (and more munchkins) to come. Keep up the fantastic reporting! It makes the month and 1/2 we have left until WDW MUCH more bearable! :thumbsup2

Someone asked several posts ago about Yorkshire pudding. My mil is a WWII English war bride so I've had loads of English food. Roast beef & Yorkshire pudding is my favorite meal that she prepares. It is the same flour/eggs/milk batter that you use for popovers but is baked in a pan. You need the hot drippings from the roast beef in the bottom of the pan & it bakes while you let the roast sit & make your gravy. My other favorite is scones with jam & Devonshire cream(cross between cream & butter, 1st time I had the real stuff in Devon back before they were able to airship it places, the 2 of us sat there & ate it out of the jar with spoons) that why we have afternoon tea at the Grand Floridan every Disney trip. According to my mil elevens' is a glorified coffee break with perhaps the above mentioned scone etc. Remember the term comes up in the Lord of the Rings, the hobbits Pippin & Merriweather want 1st & 2nd breakfasts as well as elevens'.
I've rally enjoyed this trip report & the other comments as well.

I'm so enjoying this! Thanks Jodie for helping me to learn yet another language. I love it that we share words, but with completely different meanings! Keeps things interesting...speaking of which, let us know which pair of swim trunks makes it UM & Goofy4UM! I bought DH a nice blue & white pair because he constanly wears a horrid pair with flames on them! I'm hoping he might "forget" them on our trip this month.
TM, hurry home before TD gets rid of the evidence! (and while you're there, perhaps a little addition to the report?)
Lori

So we left our tale with the Twinkies heading back for a wardrobe change prior to heading out in our trusty rusty TwinkieMobile for Downtown Disney. The wardrobe part is key because I had coordinated DS’s outfits to activities (don’t be snide- :teeth: my SIL is much much sicker than I am- she finds cute stickers for her scrapbook and then makes the outfit and the event match- “Oh look darling sunflower paper- must buy sunflower dresses and find field of sunflowers for photo op”) I was fairly restrained. Today we were supposed to go to the MK which called for a navy polo shirt with Goofy and Pluto playing golf- the matching shorts were plaid with navy, blue and lime (I didn’t even know about the lime’s deep hidden meaning). DS had greeny-blue eyes (now completely green) and he looks wonderful in any shade of green or blue. But we are not going to the MK today so I want to save the outfit for that. Fortunately I had packed a spare outfit (non-themed) which was cute and cool. :cool1: Cool as in good to wear in hot weather not as in trendy. Why cool? Because we will be heading out in the heat of the day. Apparently what they say about mad dogs and Englishmen applies to us as well. We get gussied up and begin our trek to Downtown Disney- which is easy because we drove by on our way into town.

As we pass the stretch where you can see Blizzard Beach, DH says “That looks cool. Which park is that and when are we going?” :confused3
“Sweetie, that is a water park and we are not going.” I reply.
“Why not?” he asks indignantly.
“Because you said you didn’t want to waste time at a water park. We could have gone there with those plus options that we decided not to get.” Says Tour Guide Barbie.
“Why did we make a crazy decision like that?” he asked.
“Because you said not to spend the extra money.” Continued TGB.
“Honey, you really should know by now when you should listen to what I say and when you should not.” He said.
(Sigh. We had only been married for 3 years then, now we have been married for nine….. I learned my lesson. For our upcoming trip “we” decided to buy 7 day non expiring water parks-n-more hoppers… and I ordered the 10 day. Really, how could I not? And I got in before the price increase. )
We continued on our journey lost in our respective thoughts. I was pondering the deep hidden meaning of the conversation we just had. Was he truly converted to the way of loving WDW? Or would this wear off as soon as we are out of PDR (pixie dust range)? :scratchin

AAAH-cute chapter! I think DH is becoming permanently infected w/ PD (pixie dust) I am truly loving this TR & all of the side notes-see, we are not wasting time (as some non-dis'ers would say) at all--we are learning, sharing, reminiscing (sp?)--all admirable past times! Keep it up Twinkie! Also I love it that your DH has joined in--my DH is still in the "hunt & peck" stage of computers, so he won't be trespassing here for eons!! Deb :cheer2:

Twinkie Mama! The Hostess with the mostest! I love the PDR!

Hello friends!
T-daddy and I are on an old fashioned family vacation. (Drive car full of kiddies in both the back and the way back, coolers of sammiches and snacks from home so no spendy-spendy, and head to Grandma’s house 1700 miles away, add side trip to other relatives, cook outs, random requests to ‘gimme some sugar’, a sleepover with cousins and repeat the drive home-all in a week). Yes we could have driven from the land of Oz to WDW in the same amount of time but our parents don’t live in Orlando (bummer). I am posting from a fine computer at my in-laws house that reaches the internet in treacle like speeds so that is why everything is so slow. I love the English as a foreign language lessons! I still don’t know what rubbish means if not garbage- what is a rubbish day? The pants vs trousers post was FUNNY. Congrats to UM on being married to someone who still owns Hamma-Pants. Three years ago when we moved I made T-daddy get rid of many things- favorite clothes included---- guess what fashion item was hanging in our closet (not stored in an attic- no way) as recently as 2003? Hint- popular before Hammer.

Acid washed Jordache Jeans (with pegged legs!!!)

Shiny black stirrup pants?

Michael Jackson red and black leather Thriller coat?

Pastel Pink Miami Vice Blazer?

Have you seen my DH's closet????? Hint, He graduated in 1978 (7 years older than moi). I'm giving a virtual tour on the first saturday of the month to raise money for our trip! I accept PayPal. (oh, he's gonna LOVE this one!!!) :sad2:

Can anyone still do the hamma dance? Without hurting one's self or small animals?

Even though my hamma pants stopped fitting after DD8 (mommy loves you), I have to admit, you still....can't touch this :cool1: Not that anyone would, in fact, my kids are actually frightened by the sight. :confused3

Hey, I noticed your 3 oldest kids are at the PURRR-fect age to be mortified by their hamma-paints too snug wearing mama! Never miss an opportunity to inflict embarrassment to your kids, is what I always say. Imagine their JOY when you sing "na-na-na-na...Can't Touch THIS!" preferable if there's friends over...
Good Times!
