Mister Disney and the K-man's Easter Sunday V&A Chef Table Review

The next morning we woke up still in AWE and filled with GRATITUDE at our treatment.
We headed up to the concierge floor to see what chocolate breakfast treats there might be … and don’t forget the Diet Coke.

As we were going out the door, we grabbed the roses and cherry cordials. When we arrived at the concierge buffet, we went over and asked to speak to the woman (I forget her name) who on a daily basis made sure there were TWO Diet Cokes ready and waiting for us. We presented her with the roses and cordials and told her they were given to us as part of our Royal Treatment and we were paying them forward to her in appreciation for her Royal Treatment of us!

:worship: :worship: You two did an excellent job on this review! I haven't been to V&A's since my 1st anniversary, next year will be our 10th and I'd love to get the hubby there! One problem is over the past 2 years he's lost about 100 pounds and has given up(Ok has become REALLY obsessive complusive about what he eats) alot of foods he used to eat! Mainly anything creamy, cheesey, red meat, anything fried, and I'm sure I"m forgetting most of what he won't eat now! how will he be able to eat anything at V&A's on his "new" eating plan? Believe me it's really tough to try and think of new ways to make grilled chicken every night :confused3 I remember that coffee bong from when we were there and I LOVED that thing!

BTW the picture of you two in MK is beautiful! Such a loving couple, no matter the demographics

(If only to partake of the desserts - and please dont complain of changing desserts until I can get the courage (and cash) up to try that Gran Marnier Souffle... that's the stuff dreams are made of!!)

Take Heart eeyore45, the Souffle will be around for a long time ... and as long as I'm alive ... there'll always be enough Gran Marnier available for you! :thumbsup2

Mister Disney and Kevin, I have a couple of things I must say. First of all, you two are fantastic! Fantastic to each other, fantastic to those who work for the public, and just fantastic to us by sharing your adventures in dining. Secondly, you both are hilarious. Lastly, thank you for entertaining us, answering the many questions and allowing us to live a little through your dining experiences! :grouphug:

I agree completely!

Beth

I'm so sad that this review is over. You two have had me in tears, and laughing so hard I almost lost water on the monitor.

Different demographics or not, you have definitely shown the world what love truly is. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences.

I love that you "paid it forward" with the roses and cordials. To give up such devine chocolate shows true appreciation pixiedust:

Do you have more reviews from this trip, or do we have to wait for your next adventure to the world?

NO NO NO... this review CAN'T be over....can't you review something else? The dining room, the tableware, the curtains, ANYTHING!!!

GREAT REVIEW!!! Hope you have more like this to come!

Great reiews guys. I laughed :rotfl2: I cried :sad2: and I enjoyed living vicariously through you. :goodvibes I did not however spit milk through my nose. :rotfl2: I know that I will never get to experience V&A's because I am a single mother of twin boys, who by the way would never eat anything at V&A's so I will have to continue to live through your reviews. Unless you guys can send some of your pixiedust: my way and find me a loving man like the two of you guys, well one not of different demographics would be nice, what the heck one of different demographics just to hang out with would be good too.
Bt the way what a wonderful picture of you too. Love the reviews keep them coming.
Take care and hae a great day.

What the.... this looks like either a very expensive piece of drug parafanalia (sp???) or a torture device.... 'splain please!

unless you already have and I haven't gotten there yet .. in which case ignore me.

Thank you for an amazing journey even though it was short (has it really been only 4 days?). Over 13,000 views in such a short time is testimony to the humour, insight and love that the two of you have been sharing. By the way, do you think that they would rent out the coffee bong :rotfl: during the duration of a stay. I'm not sure that the espresso machine at AKL will be close enough to our room to meet our needs.

Totally off topic, but I can't help myself: Many years ago I was a waitress. On Mother's Day, I took a huge table, a family of 17, with the manners of goats. Self control was not part of their make-up. I ran for at least two hours. We did not add a gratuity at that time, so after I cleaned up the monumental mess, I gathered up my $3 from the table. My entire afternoon devoted to a crew of rude slobs for three dollars, which I then turned over to the busgirl.
I would spend countless hours planning for Mother's Day and then spend untold energy keeping the staff motivated throughout the day. Many people dining out on MD would be high maintenance with very low reward.

For the Chef's Table figure 4-4½ hours.

For dinner????? I imagine it must be something like dying and going to heaven! For now I must live thru MR D and the K-man.....

This was so much fun! Thanks to the both of you for taking the time to present a well thought out review. Fun, food, romance, suspense and magic. What more could I ask for?

Been there, done that. Sucks, doesn't it??? Mother's day was one of the few days a year we all pooled tips, because of idiots like this. Made it easier to tip the kitchen staff and bussers too, their cut came off the top, since not all the servers believed in tipping the bussers :sad2: . A hotel restaurant where I worked had a mandatory gratuity on parties of 8 or more, but would waive it if the person making reservations asked to not have it tacked on. There was a local trucking company that had a standing lunch reservation and would bring anywhere from 6-20 guys in, and 1 of the 3 guys who signed the check would add 10%, the other 2 stiffed us completely. The hotel management was more interested in keeping the trucking company's business than retaining wait staff. You could make good $$ working evenings and banquets there, but the breakfast/lunch shift was awful.

to stay on topic - to Mister Disney and K-Man, after you've had that Southern feast, wander on out to the midwest in July, I'll throw some Iowa Chops (2" thick bone in pork chops) on the grill with fresh picked sweet corn and heirloom tomatoes and other down-home farmstyle goodies. Not haute cuisine, but darn good all the same! But you have to bring a coffee-bong to go with dessert, that thing looks cool!!!

Thanks for sharing your fabulous dinning experiences with us - I get to indulge my inner foodie by living vicariously through your postings!

As V&A 'virgin' waiting for our first visit in September I was so happy to see the two of you made it back for another visit of gastronomic hedonism! While reading I recalled our engagement dinner at WDW that changed the way I look at food and brought me closer to my new career path in the culinary industry. (Ever see 'Top Chef'? I'm much like Dave - starting over doing something I've loved for ever and have never tried.)

Hubs and I still remember our server, Adel, at Jiko in August 2001. He had been a sommelier and took the time to educate us both on red wines. Up to that point I was a fan of the sweetest, crispest Sauvingon Blancs if I drank wine. More often than not 'adult beverages' for me meant 'Jaques et champagne Americaine' and I had no idea of what my palate really wanted. Adel paired our Duck Firecrackers and Fillet with a beautiful Pinot Noir after listening to our preferences on taste. (Oh and those cardamom-chocolate beggars purses.....*sigh*) This evening opened up a new mutual interest for the Hubs and I. We've gone from our 'Jaques' to issues of Wine Spectator and cookbooks coming our of our ears. I still giggle inside when I see my big furry Georgia boy swirl a big Cabernet in his glass and draw it across his palate when we try a new bottle.

Sending you both a big vat of 21 year old Balsamic, trod on by a retinue of doe-eyed Italian virgins. Oh, and a copy of AB's Greatest Hits. NO UNITASKERS!!! :thumbsup2

Mr. Disney, know that 'Harry's Farmer's Market' AB shops at? That's our grocery store. No kidding, really. It's owned by Whole Foods but is still known as Harrys because it's something of an ATL institution. Every time we go to do the grocerying I have these little innocent daydreams about meeting AB at the mushroom bins and ending up as one of his motley crew. I think Cocoa Carl may be doing some of his community service hours gathering shopping carts in the parking lot.

If you're ever in the ATL you must make a pilgrimage. :)

What an adventure!!!

Thank you so much for allowing us food voyeurs to experience such a special night with an amazing couple.Your generousity never ceases to amaze me. Just from the small glimpse you've allowed us to see of your lives, I can see that you are wonderful people who truly love each other.

....Now K-man, about that rich brother............. :p

After catching up with reading 6 pages all the while listening to Disney music on line I can't believe it's over.

This is your best review ever and I love the last picture of the 2 of you and I notice the pirate: shackle's too! K-Man I've already warned Rick about his week in chains with the pirate:

Not sure how I'll manage but I will find a way to join you on a noshing tour through the F&W festival in the future.

Oh, and that cheese course looked to die for! I know I'd pass on the sweetbreads though :crazy2:
