Mistake in ADR & can't fix?

We leave in a couple of weeks for next trip to WDW, and I've been reviewing our ADRs. To my surprise I discovered that several of them had been booked for 3 people instead of 4. I called to try to fix them. Almost of them could be rebooked within about 15 minutes of our original time so no worries there.

One however is a bigger problem. The system wouldn't let them rebook it at all. There's absolutely no availability. This is our son's favorite TS at WDW, and a tradition for us.

I'll call a few more times to try and fix it, but if I can't I'm sorely tempted to just show up and deal with it there. After all if I hadn't double checked, I would never had known some of them were wrong. Any idea how this will be handled if I do just show up as is? This has to have happened to somebody.

Of course, keep trying to alter the reservations, but you might have luck getting in with the change. Absolutely no guarantees though. Some people get lucky and some are actually told flat-out no. On our last trip we had a table for 4 to Le Cellier but had 5 people. We got there early, told them our dilemna, and they had to call their seating manager over to discuss. They did wind up sitting us, but it was by no means a 100% thing.

Just showing up may lead to not being able to be seated with an extra guest. A lot will depend on where and when your ADR is for. Disney will try to seat you with an extra person if you show up with one, but there is no way of knowing ahead of time.

As a family of 3, we were ALWAYS seated at a 4-top anyway. So it's a much better chance that you'll be accommodated than a bigger group (like 5 instead of 4, since 5 people would be seated at a different table than 4 would have been).

But keep trying, too!

I would still go and see what happens, I booked a late ADR our last trip to GF Happily Ever After dinner, they could not get us a 4 top so booked us 2 2 tops instead. When we got there we asked if there was anything they could do since my sister did not join and there were 3 and 1 person would sit alone and they were nice enough to sit us at a larger table.

Now, we were basically the first seating so that might have helped some so I suggest getting there early. It might just mean having to wait a little longer for the table to open up :) I can't think of any 3 tops I have seen in resturants

I think you should try to book a new adr for 4 people, but I wouldn't be too worried about it. Most TS places have tables for 2, tables for 4, and then tables for 5. If you were booked for 4, and you needed a table for 5, I would worry because you the TS would have to accomidate your group with a bigger table. We are a family of 3, and we were placed at a table meant for four every single time with one exception. At Crystal Palace we were placed at a table for two, with an extra chair for dd. It made for an really uncompfertable meal, but the only reason i think they sat us that way was because dd was only 2 at the time.

Try to change your ADR, if you can't, got to your adr, and let the host know you have 4, not 5. I would ALMOST guarentee they will honnor your request since they don't have tables meant for 3.

I would keep checking online several times a day for a reservation for 4. Usually there isn't a problem going from 3 to 4, but, if the restaurant is full, the fourth person could be turned away because the fire code determines the seating capacity of the restaurant.

While in most cases a group of 3 will be seated at a 4 top, there are a few restaurants that have tables for 3. At Boma we were seated against a window at a table that was meant for 3.

We were also seated at a table for three at Bomas. More than once we've been seated as a party of three at one of those window tables at 'Ohanas too. You're right though we are normally seated at a table for four. In fact, even as a solo diner, I've been seated at four toppers before.

You will not have a problem at all. I had reservations for 4 at Ohana and California Grill on our last trip. by chance friend of ours was there with his wife and daughter. We wanted to have dinner with them, but I thought there would be no chance. I told them to come to Ohana with us to see. They said no problem. I asked if he thought it would be a problem at anyplace else. He told me that it would have to be very over booked to turn anyone with a reservation away, regardless of the number people in their party. The next night we went to California Grill and they said the same. If going from 4 to 7 was not a problem I would say that going from 3 to 4 will be fine. I bet they would not even ask.:thumbsup2

I realize I should have mentioned the ADR is for Tony's in MK. Now that several of you mention it, I don't recall ever seeing a table for just 3 there. We've been several times as a party of 3 and we've always been seated at 4 top. So I'm more hopeful now that we will still get seated if I can't get the ADR changed.

Thanks everybody!

Yippee! I did finally get the last ADR rebooked for 4 an it is within 5 minutes of the original time. Thx for all of your advice.
