I think I'm an honorary Missouri DISer...I grew up in St. Louis County and moved to Boston 12 years ago. Actually, I've been all over Missouri -- I grew up in St. Louis, my parents were from Chaffee and Bloomfield (bootheel), and I went to undergrad at Truman State (Kirksville). My BFF was from Salisbury, and we would go to KC on weekends to visit her boyfriend. We used to vacation through all the state parks when I was little, and also spent time in Hannibal, Lake of the Ozarks, Branson, and Meramec Caverns. I loved Tom Sawk Mountain and Elephant Rock State Park. Another BFF lives in Troy, and we still have good friends in Florissant, Hazelwood, Creve Couer (I always spell that wrong, sorry!) and Spanish Lake, not to mention relatives spread all over the state.
Anyway, we've never been to DL, no matter where we lived. I would like to see it sometime, but everything I've read has lead me to believe that WDW has much more to offer for my vacation dollar. We actually love the variety of options in Orlando -- we love staying onsite, on I-Drive, and onsite at Universal. We find so much to do with the various parks and other area attractions, it's much more attractive to do a 3.5 hr plane ride than a 5-hr one, and frankly we just aren't that interested in going to CA.
It's great to see the big Missouri presence on the Board! I miss the big river, we have nothing like that here. The ocean is awesome, but it's just not the same!
