I have seen other threads where people have said they love this ride and others who have said to avoid this ride like the plague. Well, I wish I had listened to the plague people!

We just got back from WDW and I am still talking about Mission Space. My daughter and I love simulation rides and go out of our way to find them. So we ignored the warnings about MS. I also never have suffered from motion sickness.

Well, there is always a first time!! Between the hysteria of my daughter and the fact that I thought I might actually have to use the vomit bags they so kindly supplied....

After the ride we went looking for some supper - my husband was starving! - well you should have seen the picture. My husband wolfing down a platter of mexican food while my daughter and I munched on dry nacho chips just to see if our stomachs would settle. It wasn't pretty.

So be prepared and never assume that you will be immune.
The irony is I would love to try it again to really try and understand how they made it so real, but I find that my bravery level has dropped too much to attempt the ride again.

Sorry you didn't enjoy! I myself loved it, but the rest of my family did not. In fact, we'd all gotten Fastpasses for it that we didn't use, so they all gave me theirs and I rode it 5 times in a row. It was awesome, but obviously not for everybody. I now rate it as my favorite WDW attraction, for everyone else it's near the bottom.

If you do decide to try it again some time, be sure to follow their instructions about keeping your eyes open and face forward. Many have found that really does the trick.

Hi, so sorry that you had such a bad experience. When we were there last November we were at WDW for 2 weeks, and we rushed to MS on the first day, as the new ride that we had not done before. My DH and I ride all the fun rides and never have had motion sickness. We both got off the ride feeling not well, so we didn't ride it again until the last day were there. We had been talking about it for the whole 2 weeks and decided that we didn't want one ride to form our opinion on a Disney attraction. So we went to the ride and the line was pretty short so we got in, feeling a little apprehensive. As we were standing there, listening to all the warnings and instructions, we decided to follow the directions exactly. We were not bothered at all by nausea or headache, and only momentary dizziness that disappeared by the time we were outside. We were sure to keep our eyes open and focused on the screen, we kept our heads back against the seat and took slow deep breaths of the air blown in our faces. We were able to not only not get sick, but we really enjoyed the ride and went back later in the day to do it again. Now we think it is really fun and look forward to doing it again next week.

Back before it opened, I remember reading all of the rumors and notes about M:S from here and WDWMagic. I read through the ride manufacturer's web site http://www.therideworks.com/.

From hearing CM reviews and speaking to some CM friends, I was VERY nervous and excited to ride it.

The firs time, I rode with a friend of mine. We were almost obsessed with following the warnings and instructions exactly.

The ride was like nothing I have EVER felt. I get motion sick when an airplane does turns or ascends quickly. I did not feel sick on this ride.

Getting off the ride, my friend and I were almost dazed. I was afraid to look in any direction but straight ahead. We left the M:S building to go meet up with Holly and we noticed it was POURING rain. We then ran to Innoventions, where Holly was. By the time we got there, the running and rain knocked MOST of the daze out of us. I was afraid of the delayed onset sickness that people have told me about. A CM that worked at Mouse Gear who told us about how many people didn't get dizzy or sick until they got inside the store. They told us of a few instances where people dropped in the store soon after riding M:S.

Since then, I have ridden it without any ill effects.

A few months ago, there was a CM rumor, or at least a rumor I heard from a CM that M:S might be throttled back a little. Not because it was making people sick or anything but I guess they were noticing some wear on the ride. I am not sure if this is true and I have not noticed any difference in the ride.

DH and i were there 2 weeks ago. We waited til just before closing to try it so if we got sick it wouldn't ruin our day at EPCOT (not to mention it was a walk on!). My DH usually gets very sick on spinning rides and I've never had any kind of motion sickness problem on any kind of ride. Well we both loved it and neither of had any ill effects (my DH did have momentary yet mild dizziness just as we exited the ride but it very quickly subsided). From all the hype about this ride, the intensity was a lot less than what I was expecting, although I found it to be the perfect amount of intensity (I was expecting the absolute worst). Sorry you didn't have a good experience...I guess it truly depends on each individual how he/she will react, and there is no general prediction that can be made for anyone; people just have to try it and hope for the best! I'm glad you at least gave it a try!

I have to agree, we didnt like MS either. We rushed to it upon arrival and had 0 min wait on sat night, 630 pm on sept 11. We went right in, listened to the warnings and took off. I loved the blast off! Once the ride got going, it was fine at first, but then i didnt like it at all. When it was my turn to push a button, i could barely move my hand to get to it. I looked straight ahead and kept my eyes open, though i did think about closing them at a time, but i didnt. Then i even looked for a vomit bag thinking i may need it, or maybe to try and signal the castmembers to stop the ride if they could, but finally it was over. i had a wierd feeling in my stomach and i didnt like it. My kids loved it, but not me. They rode it again, but i didnt. I dont think ill do MS again.

I get motion sickness swinging on a swing  , so it's taken me about 4 trips to WDW to get the nerve to try MS. I went on it for the first time last week... and loved it! Like a previous poster, I followed the directions EXACTLY - I almost didn't blink, lol! It was an awesome ride and I'm excited to do it again on our next trip :)

Im sorry that some people get this reaction.... its a shame. Personaly i dont ever have this problem and would ride it 10 times in a row... i love it! Hope the rest of your trip was awesome though!

I love Mission Space. I'm very lucky, I guess. No problems, yet, with motion sickness. Sorry you had a rough time.

My BF absolutely loved it and went on it three times in a row. While I was waiting for him, however, I saw a boy dry-heaving when he came off the ride. The parents said "What's wrong with you, you loved it". I felt bad for him.

I think there is no way to know how you'll be affected unless you try it...which makes it a Catch 22 for a lot of people.

Spinning rides usually make my tummy queasy & I really had reservations about going on MS; however, the curiosity factor won & I did it. I wound up loving the ride and had no ill effects. Was I surprised? You bet I was! Now, having said that, the spinning teacups can do me in in a heartbeat. :confused3

I had very mixed feelings on this ride previous to our trip. As someone who gets motion sickness just riding in a car, this ride didn't seem like one for me.

However, I have a DS (10) that couldn't wait to go to space. So I risked being sick to not disapoint him. We got fastpasses for as late as we could (get them by noon on an EE day or they will be gone THANK YOU CM) and I did okay during the ride (felt the spin at the very start), but it was after that really got me. I didn't feel sick exactly more of a dizziness that I just couldn't shake. We stayed for Illuminations but I went to bed as soon as we got back to the resort.

If my DS wants to do this again, it will have to be with DH or when he's older as a single rider. Never again for me!

BTW - Star Wars was also a difficult one for me so if motion sickness is an issue this is another one to avoid or do late in the day.

MECLIZINE, MECLIZINE, MECLIZINE!

Or Bonine if you want to pay non-generic prices. I also feel woozy swinging on a swing (but enjoy roller coasters).

12.5 mg Meclizine the night before and another 12.5 mg the morning of Epcot and I didn't feel a thing except exhilaration. I rode twice, and wanted to go back for more.

the first time we tried this I felt dizzy and queazy when we got off the ride. (I think 7 out of 8 of us were somewhat effected) I think it was because we were so nervous (they really do make you feel nervous with all the warnings!) this year only my mom was sure she wanted to ride it again so DH and I said ok - and we loved it! still got a little dizzy but It was awesome!
