Mission Space opening?

Does anybody have any idea when Mission Space is supposed to open at Epcot? We were at WDW for a week end of April to beginning of May and heard late 2003. We are going back for a long weekend end of September and I am hoping it will be open, although I have my doubts, when I remember how long the delay was for Test Track was to open!!

The latest Mousavers newsletter says August 15th is the current launch date. We will see ....

I heard 'soft' opening in August and full opening in October/November.

Off the subject, how do you get the trip countdown in your response?

As mentioned on another board, the official Disney web site for Mission Space is now saying that the "launch date" is August 15. The press event will be in October, but Disney is clearly communicating that if you are there after August 15 you can ride it.

This leads to speculation, of course, that there will be more "traditional" soft openings (random, unannounced) throughout the summer.

I subscribe to Family Fun magazine, and the issue that arrived yesterday had a contest to win a trip for 4 to WDW for the "official" opening of Mission:Space on October 9. I haven't seen this date anywhere else yet, though...

Soft opening as stated in their press release is August 15 and the Official opening on October 9.
