Missing Yale student's body found

So incredibly sad...It's been a bad wedding weekend. This, and a local groom was on his way to a wedding day breakfast with his groomsmen and was killed in a car accident. The wedding became a memorial.

I just saw this. So very tragic that her body was found on what would have been her wedding day.

There was another sad story about a groom killed on the way to the wedding this weekend in Raleigh. Just awful - his body was thrown from a car and another car hit and killed him. Guests showed up expecting a wedding (some had not been able to be notifed) and they held a memorial service instead, at which the bride to be spoke. I can't imagine the pain she must be in.

So very very tragic. Prayers for the family and her fiance.

Will it have been a maintenance worker, do you think? Someone who tried to date her in the past and was rebuffed? Who would know about and have access to the place she was hidden?

Goosebumps because I thought this might be what happened to her. :guilty:

Anyone else remember back a couple months ago in the news when they were searching for a cleaning woman in NYC, and finally found her body in an air conditioning duct? When they said this girl swiped her ID into the lab and then never came out, I wondered if it was the same type of crime and she was hidden in the building somewhere.

Now Godspeed to the investigators to find who did it.

This literally made me feel sick to my stomach. I so hoped she would be found safe and alive. What a tragedy. My prayers are with Annie, her fiancee and her family.:sad1:

I was thinking of that or I'm sorry but her soon to be husband. I really hope it's not him.

It's very sad. :sad2:

.

I remember this and thought the exact same thing when they said that there were no record of her leaving the building.

That was the first thing I thought of when I heard. There was no record of her leaving the building on any of the surveillance cameras. It would have to have been someone with access to the building. Since she was to be married this past weekend, it seems that it was someone who did not want to see her married. My first thought was a former boyfriend. I did see a picture of someone they were trying to identify. It was a guy caught on camera entering the building. His back is to the camera, so no picture of his face. He was carrying what appeared to be a rolled up blanket or beach towel of some type.

While I have no knowledge of the building at Yale, I work in a similar type of facility, and it is not inconceivable that many people in the building might have known how to access the chase.

It is very important that the plumbing and wiring systems in wet labs not go down for long periods, so in modern buildings the pipes/conduits are sometimes run through open chases inside utility closets, with only a grid cover to keep things from falling in. This lets them be serviced without having to tear out and subsequently repair walls. Storage space is often at a premium in labs, so it isn't unheard of to store unused equipment inside the utility closets, if there is room (it is normally not supposed to be done because of fire safety issues, but it happens.) If the chase was structured this way, with closet access from inside a lab or in a hallway, it is possible that workers other than maintenance personnel might have known how to get to it.
