Miss B's Magical Wish Trip Adventure to Atlantica

Some very exciting news around here! :yay::yay::yay:In fact, I've known about it for awhile now, and was near bursting with excitement to tell someone. Seems like I have been keeping a lot of secrets lately! Ha!

Well, Brooke and Avie were selected by the wonderful people at the Big Give to take part in their amazing, volunteer-based program. I couldn't have been more delighted--as I've seen many of your PTRs and seen the amazing work that these women (and I suppose, some men!) do in the craft-department and the adorable trinkets that the kids get pixiedusted with. Just amazing--both the gifties and the hearts of these amazingly, kind and generous strangers who just hope to make a magical time for our family all the more magical. Truly breathtaking.

So, of course I kept it quiet from the girls, but I did tell my husband about our family being selected for the Big Give--and he was gobsmacked. ''But they don't know us?!'' he said.

That's just the point. We are amazed by you--all of you--for sharing in our wish trip even though you've never even laid eyes on us--whether it's taking the time to comment on a posting or sending my girls a little magic in the mail, we just appreciate all of you so much!

On that note--onto the Give!

We live in the country, so we receive most packages at our local post office. On Thursday night, I came home to a slip in the mail box, telling me there was something waiting there for the girls. I didn't even pull into the driveway, I just climbed back into the car and headed straight to the post office, arriving with just two minutes to spare before they closed. And, what did I find? A big red box with Mickey heads covering it for ''Miss Brooke's Underwater MAW Adventure." I just smiled all the way back home.

When I opened the front door, Brooke came running up to me shouting ''A delivery man was here, Mommy! We got a package!'' Only then, did she realize that I was also carrying a parcel. She was wondering what it was--especially intrigued by the Mickey heads. My mother-in-law (who is babysitting the girls this summer) explained that UPS was here. She winked at me. She was in on the surprise.

So two packages on the same day! What fun!:yay:

Pascal was in Toronto on business and wasn't going to be back until the girls were in bed, so he wasn't there to open the packages with us. We considered waiting until today, but the girls were just too excited, so I let them open them before he came home.
I'm lucky I even got pictures! They were ravenous beasts--Brooke was tearing into tissue paper faster than I could snap photos and shrieking about the surprises she found inside. Avery was into everything and shrieking about anything--the paper, the box, something she snatched from Brooke's hands. It was a little crazy!
DSC_0011-1.jpg

The first package was the red box, as Brooke wouldn't put it down. The red box opened up into a Princess gift box with a cute little green ribbon. :wizard:It was from Angie (aka Angeque143), Carissa, Anthony and Eva.
DSC_0018.jpg

In it were several tissue-paper wrapped packages--a few for Avie and a few for Brooke. Now, here's where it got chaotic. The kids were ripping open packages faster than I could figure out what belonged to whom. (A lesson learned for sure! At Christmas, we actually practice patience and everyone gets one gift to open each, waiting for the next until the other person is done. I think we'll have to adopt this for the next Give package.)
DSC_0031.jpg

Brooke's packages included (I think!) a box of Disney Princess crayons, a cute little Princess pen with sparkles and pompoms and geegaw, a small Princess notebook to write all of her secrets in, a great white sun hat (with an adorable monkey on it), and a Tigger Pez Dispenser. There were also some glow bracelets for both girls.
DSC_0071.jpg

DSC_0037.jpg

Avie's included (and again, this is just an assumption!), some pink and purple Princess hair clips (or maybe they were for Brooke and the hat was for Avie?!?), some Minnie Mouse socks and the softest bibs I've ever felt. The bibs are in a Minnie and a Cinderella print. (Did you make these Angie? They are perfect!!)
DSC_0077.jpg

DSC_0059-1.jpg

And then the highlight of the box: two little fans on ropes, that you can hang around your neck. When you push the button, the fan starts spinning and some colourful lights start up. I don't know where you found these, but, as you can imagine, it was a hit with both girls!
DSC_0030-1.jpg

Thank you so much, Angie and family! That was just so sweet of you!! The girls couldn't have dreamed of a better box of magic! I hope our families run into each other at GKTW (I believe our trips will cross each other by a few days). We would really love to thank you guys in person! :lovestruc
DSC_0074.jpg

Brooke then opened up the other package, which was from Michelle (Miprender). And, to all of our delights, we found two beautiful, handmade, personalized autograph books in there. One for Brooke (with Ariel on the cover, of course!) and one for Avery (with Minnie Mouse on the cover). There's a page for every character and then a bunch of blank, colourful pages in the back for extra characters. Just perfect! Brooke finally stopped moving and took a few minutes to flip through every page, naming each of the characters she saw there.:lovestruc

DSC_0031-1.jpg

My husband thought these books were especially cool! Very clever! I think he wished he had one. I told him he could get Avie's signed for her. He laughed!

Thank you so much, Miprender! The books are going to make the most amazing souvenirs of our trip. I just know that as soon as Brooke starts getting signatures, she's going to start asking everyone, CMs and servers and monorail drivers and other guests to sign her book.

The dilemma I had was the questions. Brooke still doesn't know about the trip. (We have been waiting for the MAW presentation, so that our wish grantors could tell Brooke themselves. It looks like this presentation isn't going to happen until at least the second week of August, which will be just a month before the trip, which is good because I want to get Brooke started on her countdown calendar. If it doesn't happen in time, I might end up telling her myself!) Anyways, Brooke was asking who sent these pacakages and why. I read her the cards and explained that these were Mommy's friends on the computer and they were Brooke's special fairy godmothers.:wizard: And, the reason they were sending her and Avie gifts was because they hoped her wish to meet Ariel would come true. She seemed to think that made perfect sense, so she was fine with it!

The only problem is she wanted to colour and draw in the autograph books with her new crayons. I told her they were special books and we had to save them in case we ever went to Disney. She was a little disappointed when I had to take the books away, but seemed to get over it when I allowed her to sleep with the notepad and pen under her pillow. Go figure!:cloud9:

Anyways, it was an amazing evening. And, we just want to thank all of you once again for thinking of us. Words just don't seem enough.

They were thrilled! Thanks so much! I don't mind at all about the bibs. They are wonderful! Thank your aunt's friend for me. They are quite adorable and will come in very handy. Avie likes to eat--but man, she is not a delicate eater! :)

Hi everyone,

So, here's our intinerary (or at least a first draft of it!). I've tried to stagger big days with shorter ones in between, to give us some time to rest and enjoy GKTW.

Let me know what you think--whether I've forgotten something, if you think it is too busy or if there is something you think might not work out. Of course, we can't do everything and there are four Disney parks to fit into three days, so there will be a bit of hopping back and forth. It is especially tricky to try and make it to the nighttime shows. Brooke would have no problem staying up past her bedtime, but Avie is still a baby and keeps pretty close to the routine.

I appreciate any help with the planning--especially timing-wise. I just don't want to miss that first 9am BBB appointment on our first day, and I'm wondering just how much time we should be there in advance (or how much time they'll let us in in advance) so Brooke can gawk at the castle! LOL!!

Anyways, all suggestions and thoughts welcome! Thanks!

Your intinary looks good to me....make sure you take breaks though when in the parks....September can be pretty hot during the day, drink plenty of fluids and find shade/AC when you can!

As far as BBB....make sure you have plently of time for driving, parking and getting to the entrance gates...you have to take the monorail or ferry to the gates....I'd probably plan at least an hour + for all the travel time...if the park isn't open yet, they will let you in a bit early since you have an ADR for BBB,make sure you have the # with you if they need it!

Whaddayathink?

Your itinerary looks good to me. I would agree that at least an hour to get to your appt at BBB is appropriate. At Islands of Adventure your girls are going to love the Dr. Seuss area. I think we rode the Cat in the Hat ride about a dozen times! I am sure you are used to letting the kids' energy and crankiness levels help determine your plans. It sounds like such an amazing trip!

Okay! Thanks for the info. I was most worried about that appointment since it is so early in the day. My girls are early risers so we can leave GKTW pretty early on, but I just didn't want to cut it too close with the appointment. It will be our first day, so we won't be able to really gauge distance and travel time yet. So, if we leave GKTW at 7:30, we should arrive at BBB around 8:30 or 8:45?

As for A/C and shade--I'm thinking of trying to do an outdoor attraction, then an indoor one, then an outdoor one, then in...just to help cool down and get us out of the sun for solid blocks of time.

They LOVE Cat and the Hat, so yes--I'm sure we'll be hitting that one for sure! Yup--as much as Hubby and I would love to drag the kids around all day and keep them up for every fireworks show available, it's just not realistic with our little ones. We'll have to take each day as it comes and just go with the flow. If they become too exhausted, then it's time to call it a day and head back to the resort. Avie can have a nap and Brooke can go for a swim or something....

Last question, the Disney Park tickets are Hoppers, right?

More BIG GIVES came yesterday and today! A pink princess-sticker-covered package arrived yesterday, which Brooke was excited to show me.
DSC_0003-2.jpg

DSC_0008-2.jpg

It was from Diane (no disname) and the girls were amazed to find in it two gorgeous matching pillowcase dresses and capri pant sets!
DSC_0022-1.jpg

One for Avery (with an adorable Pooh Bear appliqued on it, which Avie couldn't stop cooing over) and one for Brooke with a pink and blue Cinderella's castle on the front it. The print used for Brooke's is also Cinderella, while Avie's is Winnie the Pooh. The girls were so excited!
DSC_0033-2.jpg

Brooke was especially taken with the rainbow-coloured ribbon that the outfit is trimmed with. She actually kinda hugged the outfits here. Kook!
DSC_0030-2.jpg

DSC_0038-4.jpg

When the girls tried them on, Brooke insisted that her Cinderella and Ariel Barbies sit with her on the sofa.

Here they are goofing off with the outfits on. A perfect fit!

DSC_0073-1.jpg

Thank you so much for the beautiful outfits, Diane. The girls are excited to wear them--and if Brooke knew about the trip yet, she would be insisting on wearing them to meet the princesses. These outfits will be cherished!

Up next, a Priority Delivery truck that arrived this morning with a huge box covered in Mickey heads for the girls. We debated waiting for Dad again (he was present last night!), but decided we just couldn't! So, the girls tore right in!
DSC_0077-1.jpg

This package was from Lisa (mommy2mrb) and Megan--and they spoiled the girls! Inside were these adorable little purses, one with a little Pooh bear for Avie and one with a baby Cinderella doll for Brooke. (I've never seen these little dolls before, but Brooke is now obsessed with hers. She's made a bed for her and everything! Has been singing lullabies to Baby Cindy all day....).

DSC_0091-1.jpg

Then, the girls opened up their own little packages--Avie's contained an adorable pink Princess sippy cup, some cute Ariel socks and some Minnie Mouse hair elastics. We never seem to have enough hair elastics, so these will definitely go to good use!
DSC_0120-1.jpg

DSC_0143.jpg

Brooke's package was overflowing with pixie dust: Ariel socks, an Ariel watch, Ariel bracelets, Ariel sports cup, a colouring book with Ariel on the cover, princess crayons, princess hair elastics, princess stickers of all kinds, a little goody bag with a wand and a maze toy (Brooke was amazed by the wand--go figure!), glow sticks, princess card pack--I may have missed something! There was just so much magic--oh yes, and one of the highlights--Mickey soap bars! Brooke wanted to go wash her hands right away, kept saying how nice they smelled.

DSC_0128-1.jpg

And, then in the card--a gift card! I had to explain to B how a gift card worked, but then she was so excited. She can't wait to go shopping. I think she'll be on the lookout for more tiny Baby Princess dolls! :)
DSC_0099-1.jpg

Lisa and Megan--you are clearly two very generous souls! Thank you so much for adding more magic to this trip.

Then, today in the mail--another package! We are overwhelmed by the kindness of so many of you. Just amazing.

This package was yellow with blue stars and was from Nick, Jill, Ella and Ava (DISname jaso202)! Brooke loved that one of the girls coloured her an Ariel picture. She would like to thank whomever did!

Inside, each girl had a package. Brooke's was very Dr.Seuss heavy--it contained a Minnie Mouse book, as well as Dr. Seuss markers, a Horton Hears a Who notebook (she just loves little notebooks. Scribbles little notes to me, to her father and to herself all the time!), and Cat in the Hat shape bracelets! How cool are those?!?! She kept repeating "Thing 1 and Thing 2 bracelets" over and over!

[Avie's package contained a little Disney board book (which she just loved!) and three beautiful handmade bibs: a blue one with a dolphin and whale design (perfect for a Sea World lunch! ;)), a pink Piglet one (which she recognized right away) and my favourite and I think it's her's, too!--a striped one with an adorable sprinkle cupcake with Mickey ears!! We call Avery 'Aviecakes' and cupcakes are the theme of her bedroom and were the theme for her first birthday party. Perfect for our little sweetie! She kept pointing at the cupcake. Love them!

Thank you so much Jaso202 family! For all the gifties--but especially for those bibs. They are just wonderful! I've maxed out my photo limit here, so I'll add the photos from the last BIG GIVE in the next post.

love the cute dresses, the girls look so pretty in them!

Yay, it got there! it was fun picking things out for the girls (I had just bought a couple of the Pooh's, so it was good timing) happy they love all their goodies, hope it will help pass your quiet times during your trip!
We enjoy bringing pixie dust to all the kid's, it put a big smile in our hearts!

I am so happy that the girls got the package that we sent to them! My girls loved decorating the package with the stickers. It was so fun to see the girls actually trying on the outfits. I made them a little bit on the big side so that hopefully you will be able to use them again next spring. Living up in Canada I figured that you will not be able to use the outfits for a few months after your trip. I remember reading somewhere that Brooke loved rainbows so I made sure to incorporate the rainbow ribbons. I hope you enjoy a wonderful and memorable trip to Disney!

Yay! They arrived in one piece! I was my first shipment to Canada, so I was nervous. :) glad you liked the bibs an pixie dust! I have two girls too, and your story touched my heart! I hope your trip is truly magical!! :wizard:

Thanks!

Whaddayathink?

Great... Our girls are about the same age!! Universal didn't have much my dd could do and she is very tall for her age!! And they wouldn't let my youngest dd on ANY of the rides.. Check out the heights at Universal!! We did both of the parks in one day! Make time to play golf at GKTW. My dd loved Hollywood Studios and their is so much to do at MK!!!
