Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

I'm going with the idea of 9 more work days and I'm there. I am busy and can't get to think about it as much as I would like. It won't be long now and right now it is exciting!

Cam, PD to you.

TiffJ - You are right to be a little concerned about the humidity. I have been struggling the last couple of weeks with my runs and it is soooo frustrating, but I realized tonight that my body is having a really hard time adjusting to the heat again. It is not really that HOT right now, when I ran this evening - around 7'ish, it was coming down from being around 85 today.

I ran a good pace, I ended up with 5 miles - average 8:45 pace, but I feel HORRIBLE the whole time. I feel sick the whole time, my body does not adjust to the heat well.

The good thing about MINNIE is it starts at 6:15 am  , it is still getting down to 60's at night right now, so hopefully, it will stay that way for two weeks!! :sad2:

Either way, it is going to be so much fun and I can't wait to meet everyone!!:yay:

ON deck for tomorrow: Body Pump class in am (weights) then off to the beach :rolleyes1

angie

PS - Almost forgot - CAM GET WELL!!!!!!! :0)

Oh yeah, I'm going to get killed by the humidity too! Right now it is 32 deg and I'm thinking I should head out for my 7 miler soon while it is still sunny. Today we are supposed to "warm up" to 45 deg, but it is also supposed to rain, so maybe I should get out there before that happens....

Question about pics/characters: Are there handlers with the characters to take pics (with my camera) of them & me?

I know that at the last 2 Goofy's, they have CM's to take pics of you with the characters. I would assume the same thing as I am bringing my camera:)

I got my 7 mi LR in this morning. I got some hill training in too, running up 137 ft in 0.3 mi during my run. Ouch!! Only 2 weeks and a day until Minnie!

PS I have another question...I said before that my neice cannot go cause her grades, but I was going to bring one of DD's friends instead...I cancelled the flight for my neice and I am going to rebook in DD's friends name, now I am just wondering if I should rebook for the marathon and pay the reg fee again, or should I just let her run in DNeices name since they don't check ID's anyway...I would hate to have to put that money out again????

Any answers on this one?????

I believe they DO check picture ID when you turn in your waiver. I think that was the way they did it. I have a similar situation in that my SIL will not be coming, but I have someone else who could take her place. Then I remembered about the picture ID. I could be wrong..:confused3 Anne

sorry, michelle, not sure what to tell you on that one. It would be a shame to let that registration go to waste, but this new young lady might like her results attributed to her name.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. Hoping the PD works soon. I am totally wiped out and my coughing gets worse when I exert myself. Then again, it's pretty bad when I am sleeping, too. UGH!

Got my LR/W in today. We had beautiful weather - was about 60. I did 8 miles, 13:40 pace. The first four miles were great, no wind, great weather. I even did my first mile in 11:20!!:cool1: But as soon as we turned around, the wind was all of a sudden in our faces and it made it really hard. My leg pain kicked in around there too, so I had to do more walking than running. But I got the miles in and overall I am very happy. I feel very confident for the minnie now.:thumbsup2

My little sis is coming to stay with me tomorrow for a few days and she has a cold. I better start taking my airborne

Good morning team!!!!

Wow the weather here is beautiful right now, I think it is suppose to turn cool again next week but I will take it while I can.

Look at my ticker!!!! Yipeee single didgets!!!!!!!

Cam hope you are feeling better, I was sick at the begining of the month and it took almost 3 weeks to be totally gone.

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Kim

 IT'S COMING IT'S COMING!!!!!!

EWWWW I'm so excited I can't stand it. 14 days from today running the MINNIE!!

I hope everyone's training is going well. And even if it's not may I say - WHO CARES!! It is going to be so much fun no matter what. I just had to say that because I have been so frustrated the last couple of weeks, I had a goal I wanted to reach for MINNIE, but it is not going to turn out that way. I started to get a really bad attitude, even caught myself thinking I did not want to run "stupid" race:scared1: How stupid ( I have been under a lot of stress lately:mad: ) But then I thought - WHO CARES!!- It is going to be so much fun!!:cool1:

So in case there is anyone else out there who is/was feeling the way I was can I just say - :yay: It's going to be fun, no matter what!!!

Doing LR today, let you know how it goes later.

Angie--I've been there. Not necessarily for the Minnie, but definitely before the marathon. I have to say that the WISH team really motivated me to keep going--and the ultimate goal is just to finish, and then if I accomplish anything else, it's icing on the cake. I just can't wait to meet everyone and run my first Disney race!

Rest day for me yesterday, and then xtraining of some sort today. Not sure what, but we'll see! Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather! 2 weeks from now we'll be finishing the Minnie!!!!:cool1: Go WISH Go!!

This may have been posted somewhere in the thread but....does anyone know the approximate points for sweeping and/or pace requirements? My mother is coming to do the 15K with me and she just has the attitude of, "I walk a 20 minute pace and whenever they want to sweep me they can." However she wants me to walk with her as long as I can. I'm a runner who normally runs about 10:30 mile pace although I'm not in that good of shape right now. Anyhow...I would like to walk with her but will I get enough warning as to where they will sweep? I would like to finish the race. I can set my Garmin to watch for certain points. Thanks.

Morning Minnies!

michelle, I know they check picture ID's for adults and take the word of the adult on the kids maybe. I've not had kids w/o ids...we usually got state issued ids when traveling and the kids liked being "big" and using theirs from time to time.

I'm going to go with what Cam said. If I were a young thing, I'd sure like to have my name as a participant on the bib or listed in the results.

Angie, you've got the attitude right. It will be a great event. WISH Team will be there!

debm, I don't have the answer; if there is one I'm sure it will get posted soon.

Look at what I did! I went out yesterday for 7 miles (schedule I'm working with called for 9 miles). I managed a pace of 14:27 since I was trying to keep my "tender" leg from getting too stressed, I figured to go out and enjoy the view. I had plenty of time left in the pace department. I felt some discomfort, but then all is good today. The day was sunny and mild and my trek was fantastic!

Good morning team!!!!

No such luck here at Lake Tahoe. Nice winter storm has droped 6 inches of snow overnight with another 6 inches going to hit today. Above 7000 ft it is supposed to have 12-24 inches. So much for Spring. Can't wait for a week and a half. I want sun and heat:banana:

Debm: I asked EMMI about cut points for both Minnie races and all they would say is that you must maintain a 15 min pace or you can be picked up anywhere on the courses. Not very helpful and I think they don't want them publicizied:(

Hi, everyone! Now, we can officially say we are all going to Disney NEXT WEEK!!! YAY!!!
I am so happy everyone is enjoying their training or at least looking forward to just getting to the finish! ;) I am dying sitting here in my office looking at the beautiful blue sky and WANTing to be outside but also knowing there is no way I could manage it today and also that I don't want to get sicker. I really appreciate all the good WISHes. You guys are the BEST!!!!

Lily -- awesome pace!!!!

debm- not sure about the sweep points, but I'd want to be meeting that pacing requirement by every mile marker. Even by mile 1, making up 5 minutes of pacing seems impossible to me, but I don't run.

angie -- sorry you are under so much stress. Sending you a  sweetie!

Stephanie -- what a great positive spirit you have!

Hi to everyone I missed! Really looking forward to meeting everyone at the WISH meet on Saturday!

FAVOR REQUEST -- I am going to start a new list in the first post of people who will be at Earl of Sandwich on Saturday at 4:30 because I am going to bring the nametags Judy made for the marathon and I want to make sure I have enough. Please post here letting me know if you are planning to be at EoS and I'll put a note on the WISH roster in post 1 to keep track!

I am thinking about taking a cab to the 15k instead of waking up the kids so DH can drive me. If anyone is staying at BWV and interested in sharing a cab around 5 am on sunday, just send me a PM ;)

Glad everyone is doing so well! I can't wait to go!!!
