Minne Marathon Team List

Thanks Robert. I'm not too concerned about myself, but family that is doing it with me. My dad really wants to do it. He is 72, has a bad knee, but is trying to walk 3 days a week and increase his pace. He keeps about 16 min pace for 2 miles right now... I'm going to wait a bit longer before I sign us all up, but I guess we'll just see. My thinking is we all do it together so I really don't want any of us to get swept, but I don't want him to have to drop out and us keep going without him either...

I noticed there seemed to be quite a few finishing later in January, but I didn't know if they swept it or not... Didn't the last person finish in like 1hr 20 minutes??? or did I toally make that up? :confused3

Thanks again!
Stacie

Stacie,

I know the "clock" time was something around an 1:00. I do believe there were a fair sized group behind us and their time might be something around that. If you family can do 16 min pace for 2 miles, they should be fine. They ones that start out at 20 min + pace and slow are the ones swept.

Thanks Robert!!! I feel better now! I just haven't done enough Disney races to know how strict they are on these things... Seems from what I've read, they are stricter for the longer distances... I guess I'll find out for the 15K... Well, wait, no...I don't want to find out! :goodvibes

GETTING VERY EXCITED ALREADY!!!!:cool1:

This race has so many emotional, special meanings for me!!! So I just wanted to say I can't wait, I'm so excited and I hope everyone is pushing along in their training.

Honestly this is when it can be hard because it seems SOOOOOO far away but what we are or are not doing right now can be the base for how well we do or do not preform later!!!

SO I WANT TO SAY: GO TEAM!!!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

Just to br clear...loved ones can watch the finish at epcot or do they have to wait outside the park?

i think i have convinced dh i can do this...i have completed one week of training from the hal heigdon training guide...figured out i just can't justify the cost--it's just "priceless"

The actual finish is just outside the park in the parking lot. No need to have the family enter the park to see you cross the finish line!

Yes, you CAN do this!

Note to everyone--don't forget:

Plan to wait for the WISH Team at the end of the event. We took an awesome race event pic after the last runner crossed the line.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks tiger lily...I looked at that disneyrunning web site and saw the finish. Loved the girls in the minnie outfits.

Now, any chance someone is driving and I could get a ride the starting line. I still have to make all the reservations and actually enter the race.

If I can figure out how..I'll post the "priceless" video I made for my DH. That is what got him. You know $ for airline tickets, $ for hotel...seeing wife at finish line "priceless"

Just checked the Flower Power Concert series and Arlo will be there on May1-3 and we have reservations at Alices' Resturant after we arive on the City of New Orleans, that is if my bags don't get checked buy the Customs Man, but what the heck I don't want a Pickle just want to ride my Motor CY Kle. :goodvibes :goodvibes :hippie: :hippie: Ah the 60's they were the best of times they were the worst of times :hippie:

Scott H....you are coming to WDW by TRAIN???? :rotfl2:

p.s. I know ALL of what you speak!!! My first car's name was Arlo! :lmao:

I'm in for the 15K on Sunday...

Booked the flights, reserved a hotel room at Pop (last detail how to get from Pop to starting point on Sunday), and registered to run the race (and I do intend on running or something that looks like it).

All I have left is 9 weeks of training. You guys do train don't you?

Actually, we iscuss our training on teh wealking/running club weekly thread. That way, we don't just talk about one race, so that those that aren't doing the next Disney race can discuss their trianing too. COme join us there!

Thanks for the update, Scott......

I knew he wasn't a one-hit wonder, but all I could remember was the City of New Orleans.......can't believe I forgot all about "Alice's Restaurant"! Actually I thought it might be fun to see him at Epcot. I suggested it to Nancy and she said she saw him a year or two ago and he was horrible so I'll probably find something else to do with my time.

Just wanted to update that I made my reservations - I got AKL - YEAH. Its a standard room no savannah view like I always said I would HAVE to have in order to book here again - I got spoiled by cheap rates a few years ago that allowed me to wake up and see my giraffes!! BUT I will take AKL standard view over the prices they are charging for the moderate resorts!!! :scared1:

Hi Tricia That'll make a few of us at AKL (including some AKV). I booked a Passholder rate--saved me enough to just about pay for the pass. So, of course, now I have planned another trip! Ah, the danger of Disney......

Maura

I don't think I updated where I am staying, DH and I are at POP.

Is anyone planning on a ride share to the start? If so, I am in it so DH doesn't have to drag his butt out of bed so early.

Jen117...I'm at the Pop too and would love to look into a ride sharing thing. I
won't have a car, but if some one else does or you want to split a
taxi.

Joan, I'll take you up on the offer. Let's hang loose and see what others are planning on doing and then make a game plan. DH will be happy to hear he doesn't have to drive me to AK so early. He is planning to drive to Epcot for the finish.
