Minivan from MCO - Jan '10

Hey all,

The family and I have been making our plans for a trip in late Jan. '10 and I have been shocked to see the unreal prices of minivans from MCO for 9 days. I know I have shopped around in the past and gotten some great deals (in the $250-320 range) but they are currently pricing around $650+. I thought this was supposed to be a relatively quieter time... is there something that I'm missing!?!? THANKS ALL!!!

I've been hunting with the codes from Mousesavers, Hotwire, Priceline, BJ's, Orbitz, Expedia, etc. and just can't believe that the prices haven't come down at all. Has anyone had any better luck than I!?!?

I know we don't HAVE to have it but we have found it so helpful in the past with the kids. Plus my mom and a friend are staying at another resort...

Any advice or codes would be very much appreciated!!

I know. The prices are so crazy. And not just with minivans. I've been looking and refuse to pay almost $300 for a rental I paid $120 for before. And that's for an economy car!

We are going in mid January. Go to Mousesavers.com. We got the Orlando Magic card and used that promo code. (free to sign up - they recommend printing out card and taking it with you). Ours is around $300/week for a mini.

Agree w/above post, we did the same thing in October and turned rented for about $300/wk with taxes and fees.

You have to look everyday. I got a 10 day minivan for 300, it is now 900. Mom needed a minivan for 2 days in Ft Lauderdale, kept coming up 200, one day I looked and it was 100 and booked it, went back up the next day.

Go to Orbitz first just to get an overview if anyone has good rates. Go to Mousesavers and look for any codes for that company then try them on the rental companies website. Know anyone with an Entertainment Book? They have good coupons you can stack with discount codes. Also, BJ's, Cosctco and Sams has coupons on their websites.

Since you are getting close in travel dates, you can try priceline.

We got a Sienna minivan in November for just over $200 inlcuding taxes by reserving a full size with National using the last minute special and a $35 coupon from Mousesavers.

We joined the emerald club with National several years ago. If you book a full size you have two rows of vehicles to choose from. There was more than one Sienna to choose from.

I had another reservation for quite a while for just an intermediate but cancelled it when the last minute specials were posted and I tried different combinations to get that $200 price. I had to play with the times of day as well.

I did spend a lot of time checking online but the van came in handly for transporting our ownerslocker as we stayed offsite at the Waldorf for 4 nights.

I agree with getting the orlando magic card. We needed to rent 2 minivans for the week of christmas. They were coming up almost $1000 a piece!!!! With the orlando magic card discount they were $250 each. Much more doable! Keep checking and I'm sure you'll be able to find a code that works for you.

I got a mini for $33/day using name your own price (leaving in 10 days). This is saving me about $100 over the Magic Card rate.

Go book it on Hotwire. $288 for a mini for the last nine days of January.

Getting on Hotwire, ORBITZ , and other offer sites has brought last minute bargins in my trips. I had an offer last weeks email I think was Hotwire for $333 total.

Impala. $183.20 for 9 days the 20-29th of Jan. that is from $27.99 a day to $12.99 a day.......
