What is the minimum number of points that you need to purchase to be considered an owner at a particular resort. We have never added on to our original contract and might consider buying at the Hawaii resort so we can reserve a room at 11 months out. I would think the annual dues would be fairly high given the location so just wanted to add the least amount of points. TIA.

Current owners can add-on as few as 25 points. You are considered an owner of a resort if you own points at it. At the 11 month mark, only points for the resort being booked can be used to make the reservation.

If you want to book Aulani 11 months out, you will need enough Aulani points to pay for your reservation. You can use current, banked, borrowed and/or transferred points but they must be Aulani points.

A 25-pt add-on at Aulani won't go very far unless you plan to go only every 3 years. By banking and borrowing your points you would have 75 points to use every 3 years but that would only buy you 4 nights in the least expensive studio (Standard View) in the least expensive season (Adventure) at 18 points per night based on the preliminary point charts.

My guide just told me yesterday that new members can buy as little as 50 points to become a DVC member.

Oh, it looks like you're not a new member, but still, this is news, I think.
