Miniature Golf

Hello ! I know this is really far in advance - but you know how we DIS planners are ?

I have done 6 annual solo vacations in December while my DH stayed home with our two cats. My next vacation will begin on January 21st. I am going for 5 nights at BWV. It's going to be extra special, and unusual, that my DH will be going with me, but only staying for a day and a half. I will continue on for another 4 nights. We plan on Epcot the whole arrival day. My DH would like to go out to the Yacht Club again for a full buffet breakfast the next day. ( He's been there before ). After breakfast, but before he has to board the Mears shuttle back to the airport, I was thinking of doing the miniature golf with him. Isn't this miniature golf within walking distance to The Yacht Club ? How do we get there, exactly ?

ON FOOT: continue to the end between Atlantic Dance and Jelly Rolls Piano Bar. Cross the bridge toward the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin and continue straight ahead to the street. Fantasia is on the left and the tennis courts are on the right. (If the big tent is set up, guests may walk through the tent.)

To answer your question, in addition to the directions given: it would be a bit of a hike from the YC. Something like going from the EPCOT entrance to American Adventure. You will also have to cross the street to get there. Certainly do-able, but not a quick dash.

A few years back, I posted a complete guide to WDW-area mini-golf courses on rec.arts.disney.parks. Though it wasn't your question, you might want to know about the available options. You might be able to find it in the google archives.

To summarize the choices in the area you're looking at: you can choose either a whimsical course or one that is not themed as a usual mini-golf course but is a more "technical" (i.e., really hard) course. Keep in mind that Disney was a founder of the professional mini-golf tour, and one of the courses was at the Fantasia site. The Fantasia ("whimsical") course itself is a lot of fun, but it's not as easy as you might be used to.

The winter-summerland courses, on the other hand, are easy like regular mini-golf and tons of fun. They are over at Blizzard Beach.

There are some off-site courses which are just as much fun, but those aren't within your question.

In any case, have fun. mini-golfing at WDW is tons of fun. We often spend most of a "down-day" going to mini-golf and go-karts.
