Mini Wedding Cakes

IntheKnow, I'm confused... "for non-wedding functions (25 or more)"... more? More than 25 people? How could a $25 cake feed so many?! Obviously, I'm not understanding. Also, I was given prices by someone on this forum who recently got a castle cake, and she indicated that the base price is now $45 for the 6" cake, and then you pay for the topper above that. Was I misinformed...? We're getting one for our upcoming 25th anniversary, and I would like to know going in that we have ordered the correct cake. Thanks for any info! ~Ev

To clarify, the mini castle cake is 3" in diameter (1 3/4" high), and the mini castle is no more than 3" high. Sounds like the cake your ordering is actually a full sized cake (6" in diameter and 4 1/2" high) with the small $100 chocolate castle that weighs about 3 pounds and is 7" high.

There are a couple of the "Mini Cakes" available from the GF bakery. I am having a couple sent to our room for DF when we go in July.

I have tried to copy and paste photos, but the PP pics don't work that way. So, I will try to describe them the best that I can.

Traditional- this one looks more like a traditional wedding cake. The pic shows lilac and pink fowers on the side, flowing down. I am sure the colors can be changed if you would like.

Swirly - all white icing with white icing swirls and "buttons".

Mickey Hat - the pic shows this as white with red piping around the base of the cakes. A red Mickey Hat sits on top, with small red Mickeys on the sides of the cake.

Champagne - The icing is a champagne color with all white roses cascade down the side.

Coral and Shells - this is a smaller version of the wedding cake. I think Fantasia Sam had this cake.

Mad Hatter - to me, this doesn't look like the *original* Mad Hatter cake. It is multi-colored fondant that looks like marble.

Mini-Castle Cake - a white fondant cake with a small white chocolate castle on top.

I hope this helps.

For individual orders (non-wedding function under 25 cakes) the GF bakery offers the "traditional" 2 tier mini cake, and the single tier mini castle cake. The other styles you have listed are wedding function only. Also, no mini cake is covered in fondant. The examples you see are actually "dummy cakes" that were fondant covered to show durability. All mini cakes are either buttercream iced, or in the case of the mad hatter mini, are covered in white ganache.

Do you know how you pay for these and if they can be delivered to Pop Century? I am going to order two different ones!

You would have to see if the Pop-Century will pick them up for you. Please be aware that these don't travel well.

I disagree with this statement. My fiance and I ordered mini-cakes in early January to enjoy at the GF Cafe. Unfortunately, I got very sick, and we had to head back to Miami. We picked up the cakes and drove them 4 hours south. We then refrigerated them for 4 more hours until we were ready to eat them. The cakes actually held up and tasted really yummy. I can't say I enjoyed the icing though...just not my style. I think that if you take them straight back to Pop, you should be alright. Good luck!

I have a LV room booked at the GF for our tenth anniversary. Can I order just one of the Mini cakes and have it put in our room on arrival for a suprise??? I made dinner reservations for VA. I'm glad to see they are getting good reviews. I'm already counting the days to Aug. :woohoo:
Also I am searching for some gold mickey earings. If any one knows a where I can find some I would appreciate it greatly. On our vacation last year I was suprised not to find any high end jewlers but maybe I was looking in the wrong places. :confused3

Call the GF bakery. I am having some sent to our room upon arrival in July, as DF wants to taste the cake before he decides on a flavor for the wedding cake... I don't think he trusts me....(he HATES chocolate :crazy2: ) They were really easy to work with, and were very helpful.

I know that Arribas Bros. carries some of the better jewelry. You might want to check their website for some earrings. http://www.arribasbrothers.com/istar.htm I looked at their items when we were there in Dec, and I wasa quite impressed.

Hope this helps....

Thanks I'll look for them. I'm totally shocked I am having trouble finding an upscale Disney Jewler.

Some of the Swaro stuff is really nice but just not what I'm after. I really want to find some gold mickey earings. Last year I found a pair of Mickey gold hoops at DTD but they were not the best quality and my wife lost one. I'd really like to find a better pair as a gift for our anniversary.
