Mini M&M holders

Just don't put coins in there, and then bring them in your carry-on for the airplane. I did that, and it created quite a stir! The security person said it looked 'suspicious' with all that metal in that shape. She burst out laughing when after doing all their security procedures, it ended up being a mini M&M container covered with Pooh Bear and Tigger stickers. I'm putting it in the checked baggage next time!

I had the same thing happen to me ... several times ... and the TSA agent then has to dump the container out to make sure you've really got coins in there. And the only time my checked luggage has been opened was the time I packed a container of coins in my bag ...

So I've switched to using small pill containers ... the contents are visible w/o having to open and dump the container and the locking lid keeps the coins in the container.

I also layer my coins ... penny, two quarters, repeat!!! I like the idea of putting a Disney sticker on the container!!!

does anyone know around how many pennies and quarters you need to do all the pressed pennies? my daughter is collecting for out October trip and I want to make sure I have enough!

A smooshed penny book ($6.00) holds 36 smooshed pennies @ 51¢ each ($18.36) and 6 smooshed quarters @ $1.25 each ($7.50) for a total cost of $31.86.

I just save my change all year long ... roll the quarters, nickels and extra pennies and exhange them for more quarters ...

Definately do use the pre-1982 pennies. On our last trip, we tried out a newer penny to see what it would look like and it did not look good with the silver streaked through it. An easy way to get your pennies to shine up, at least for a while, is to soak them in vinegar.

When you put the pennies in the vinegar, is there a certain amount of time you should leave them in the vinegar to get a really good shine?

From what I have read, there abour about 300 different coins through out the parks, resorts, shops, DTD, etc. Here are a few links I have found helpful.

I understand you can also get the little books to put them in in a lot of the stores. We have one book from our other travels but plan on getting a new one there. It's a great "cheap" souviner that is easy to carry and store.
