Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

Wow, I can't believe Jill found the back to your earring! The girls looked like they were having lots of fun.

Okay, you made me hungry! Guess it's time to eat breakfast! :)

The culinary tour sounds fun! I've never been to Boma (picky eater so I wouldn't likely sample any of the African foods), but it would be interesting to learn how the culture plays into aspects of the decor and to hear about the food. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I am super picky, and I found plenty of yummy stuff to eat. They have a small "kids food" section with chicken nuggets and macaroni and things so I was able to try some new foods without fear of starving. The roast was super yummy and the desserts are worth the ADR alone!

Great updates! The culinary tour sounds wonderful. I love the boneyard. The boys play and I can sit and take a break from the heat. Good job finding the earring back, Jill!

Oh my goodness. You should send your smell-o-puter idea to Apple, I bet you could get some BIG BUCKS out of that one! Then you could move the family to Florida to be in Disney all the time. :rotfl:
Seriously though, I would love to be able to smell all the food pictures I see on these TRs.
That Boma tour looks cool! I hope Amanda's family is able to visit her! How sad that she misses them so much, but definitely understandable.

I am amazed right now that Jill found your earring back in the dig site! THAT TAKES SKILL.

Oh earring back spotting! I do it everyday at my little jewellery counter....I should stop fumbling around so much! Sounds like a fun afternoon at AK!

Oh how I wish I could be on this list. Anita & I already had a "text" conversation about this. I gave my deputy the last week of Dec. off. We usually split the week but with Christmas falling on the weekend I did not take any more time off. The last week of the year is one of our busiest in our office. Everyone is registering their vehicles at the end of the month & also paying property taxes so that they can claim it on their income tax. So the last week of the year is not one I can take off. (when I retire maybe)!! But that is YEARS away.

I'm not sure what the holidays hold for us next year. We are planning on going in October, but I doubt we'll go for Christmas two years in row. We'll either do a short Thanksgiving trip, or we'll tough it out from October until spring break.

Wow, Jill found your earring back in that pile o'stuff?! Impressed! She's like a super sleuth.

Crazy, huh? If I drop them at home, I usually end up finding them by sucking them up in the vacuum cleaner.

Good job finding the back of the earring Jill!
I'd really love a smell-o-puter, especially when looking at food pictures.

It always smells so good when you walk by Flame Tree. That aroma can certainly lure you in!

Wow Jill, good find! My husband has eagle eyes as well. I can look for something tiny on the ground for minutes and he will come find it immediately.

Your AK tour sounds interesting. It is always amazing to hear all the things you all can fit into a trip.

Well, either we pack a lot into a trip, or we just stretch out the reporting to you so much that it seems like we stayed fooooreeeeveeeer! ;)

In 3 trips, we still haven't been to the boneyard. Your girls always seem to enjoy it though. I fully intended to get there this time, but... you know how it is. Too much to do, too little time. DH and I wondered on this last trip what Disney would charge for a monthly rate on a room. When we retire, we want to go and stay from October-May. Hey, if you're going to dream, dream big, right?

We spend A LOT of time thinking about food at Disney too. Too much time really. I have an extra 3 pounds right now to prove it. And that was after walking 10+ miles a day. When you do the math, it makes you wonder just how many calories you are consuming in those Disney meals to walk that much, and still gain weight!

We have that 'too much to do in too little time', too.

We are scheduled for dinner at Boma one night when we're there in December. Not sure if it will happen, but I'd really like to see the tree at AKL.

I need to get a smell-o-puter!

Can't believe Jill found the earring back in the sand!

The tree is really neat - very unique. I hope you make it to Boma.

The Boma tour looks like fun! And I cannot imagine being that far away from home! I'm sure there's a lot of CM's like that..

I'm jealous of Jill and her zebra dome.

And I'm also jealous of Jill's amazing eye sight. How did she ever find your "earrang" back?! Lucky!

Amanda was definitely homesick. She said she was trying to get used to it, so she didn't want them to come over here and visit because it would be too hard to say goodbye.

Impressive archaeologist skills, Jill! I've never been to the Boneyard (not ever having been to Disney with little ones), but it looks like a fun place to play! (But not the most fun place to lose a tiny object! )

No telling what has been lost and found in that Boneyard!

I can imagine that many kids have hours of fun in that boneyard...I haven't been there myself since I was a kid, the first year AK opened!

Jill must have supersonic eyes to find your earring back!

Food is all I generally think about, EVER, so in WDW it just gets that much worse :rotfl:

And in a few short years, you will be able to take your own little archaeologist and dig again. ;)

Food, glorious Disney food. :goodvibes

Very impressive that Jill was able to find the back of your earring!

Food is a very big part of Disney trips, it's all so yummy! You have to make sure you get a sampling of all your favorites while you are there.

I intended to get several things at F8W, but time was against me. Also, my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I have big plans for getting lots of delicious things, but I fill up after two or three bites of a couple of things.

Wow, I can't believe Jill found the back to your earring! The girls looked like they were having lots of fun.

Okay, you made me hungry! Guess it's time to eat breakfast!

Hope the breakfast was good. Our PTA fixed lunch for us today, so I just finished eating lasagna. :)

The roast is only served two nights a week. Saturday is one, I am pretty sure she said.

Great updates! The culinary tour sounds wonderful. I love the boneyard. The boys play and I can sit and take a break from the heat. Good job finding the earring back, Jill!

Yep, it is a good place to sit and relax. ::yes::

Oh my goodness. You should send your smell-o-puter idea to Apple, I bet you could get some BIG BUCKS out of that one! Then you could move the family to Florida to be in Disney all the time.

Seriously though, I would love to be able to smell all the food pictures I see on these TRs.

I am amazed right now that Jill found your earring back in the dig site! THAT TAKES SKILL.

I can see pictures of the AKL lobby over by the steps that go down to Boma and bring that wonderful aroma right up.

As much as she wanted to see them, she said it would be too hard to see them leave, so she was going to tough it out.

Oh earring back spotting! I do it everyday at my little jewellery counter....I should stop fumbling around so much! Sounds like a fun afternoon at AK!

I am looking forward to being back in AK and seeing the Jammin' Jungle Parade again soon! :dance3:

Apparently the ribs are only served a couple nights a week at Boma too. My DH was highly disapponted when they didn't have them on our last visit. That's why he wanted to go back. He found another meat that was a close second.

Good eyes Jill!! My kids have not really wanted to spend much time at the boneyard. Okay by me. Now I think they're getting a little old and would rather go on rides than a playground. But sometimes they surprise me!

How nice of your PTA to make you lunch!!!

MeMom/Jill - 7 or 8
Momof2TNboys - 4
Wigd and Shocker - 2
Pat, the one and only Poolrat - 1 or 2
CanadianWDWfan - 3

Added us to the list! :woohoo:

The shopping trip went great on the weekend.
I came home with several bags of Disney stuff.
They were having a 25% off sale on everything. :)
Sorry no pics of the Disney Store...my DMom forgot to pack the camera.
If you go online you can see all the fun Christmas stuff.
I got some cute Mickey & Minnie snowman at Walgreens. :goodvibes

Cracker Barrel is awesome! Glad to hear you got to share a little breakfast time with your kids.
I loved seeing all their Christmas stuff on my last visit. Wish I had a bunch more money to buy everything...they have the neatest decorations & gifts.

Wow! I can't believe Jill found your earring back. Very lucky! :thumbsup2

Boma is such a beautiful restaurant. The CM's are so nice. I haven't tried the dinner but I can say that bkfst buffet was wonderful. ;)

What a lovely photopass picture :) I'm applying to the Disney College Program this January and my number 2 job is photopass! Maybe I'll be taking photos for the Memom clan next year :) I can't believe Jill found the back to your earring! Looks like the girls had lots of fun! Doesn't everyone think about food at Disney? I think it's mainly because there's so many options and you get so hungry from having fun at the parks!!

Wow Jill I cannot believe you found that tiny earring back in all those tiny pebbles!!

We think about food a lot when in Disney also. It just tastes so much better there.:goodvibes

When you know what your dates are for next Oct. let me know. Jeff & I want to go back for Food & Wine again. I know Anita will be going towards the end of the month. I am not sure yet when we will be able to go. It depends on when my conference will be & I have to work around that.

Look for a package to arrive in the next few days.

I would definitely want to go on a roast night. ::yes:: The roast was good at Crystal Palace, too.

The lunch was a teacher appreciation meal. When we went to get our lunches, we got tickets. There was a drawing for ten $100 gift cards that Walmart had donated. I had number 594.

Guess what number was one of the ones called?

3!

Whoever was right in front of me got one of the winning tickets. Wouldn't it have been nice to have an extra hundred bucks right here at the holidays? :santa: I was happy for those who won, and it was funny to hear the shouting up and down the hallway as they called the numbers after the kids had left for the day. :yay: The last one called was for a girl who is having her second baby in January, so I know she can use the extra for that. I was very excited for her!

I went to Target after school. We were almost out of toilet paper, so I really, really needed to stop somewhere. Since I knew what was awaiting on an certain Target endcap, Target was my logical choice. I got the black salt and pepper shakers and the black Mickey bowl, ssince they can be used for other occasions, and then I threw in two of the Christmas bowls for the girls. Most everything I get for them stays here, because they have so much at home. I just figure I will have a couple of extra ice cream bowls to the cabinet, and they can use them any time, Christmas or not. As you may have noticed, we are about as far away from formal as it gets around here. We don't much care if things match or not.

You had to mention the snowglobes, din'tcha???

Maybe you will take a Photopass picture, but it will be of my clan, not me! Not a PP person yet has been successfull in the attempt to get me in one of those!

Did you get the collapsable ones? I got those and the felt ones you hang on a doorknob! They are both cute!!

You people stop telling about cute Disney stuff!!! I did good in just getting the few things I did tonight, but I had already gotten two trays and a tree skirt at Kroger. I cannot go back into a store. No, no, no!!!

Wow Jill I cannot believe you found that tiny earring back in all those tiny pebbles!!

A package? Fun! :woohoo:

I don't know about the October dates. I am guessing Jill will want to go during Brooklynn's fall break, which is probably the first week in October. They are planning to go with another family, and I am the invited tag-along photographer. It'll be a mix - I'll do some things with them, and I'll keep the kids (4 girls) some so that the two sets of grown-ups can go ride some big stuff and have a quiet meal or two, and I'll do some walking around taking pictures on my own some. Since it won't be my fall break, as I think that will come a couple of weeks later, I will only be able to take off 3 days at most, so I may have to come back sooner than they do. We haven't really worked out details yet - just a general idea.

We had been enticed, as you well know, by the pleasant aroma of Flame Tree as we had gone by earlier. It was decided, by whom I am not sure, that we would partake of our dinner here.

DisneySummer20112ndset958.jpg

Across from the Flame tree sitting areas, you can see this.

DisneySummer20112ndset959.jpg

Some people do not like to eat in this area because of.....

DisneySummer20112ndset960.jpg

DisneySummer20112ndset961.jpg

but we don't mind the birds at all.
We think they are interesting and pretty, and we have never been attacked by any there. I may feel different if one of them ever tries to eat Brooklynn or Bella, but so far, it's been okay. :thumbsup2

We ate in this section.

DisneySummer20112ndset962.jpg

Remember, Jill's family was on the dining plan, so there were desserts this time, and that's not really very usual for us.

DisneySummer20112ndset965.jpg

A hoppity friend came along to see if there might be crumbs falling around.

DisneySummer20112ndset966.jpg

This is such a pretty area to eat, if the weather is not too hot or too cold, or if there are not too many birds. ;)

DisneySummer20112ndset967.jpg

We did see a gator down in this area once, though.

On our way back up to the main path, there were pretty flowers.

I was able to book BCV for Oct 15- 19 2012. I know my conference is Oct 1-5 in Las Vegas. I need to split up the trip a bit this year. I will go, maybe take a a quick trip to DL for the weekend and then come home. Spend a week home and then go back out M- F for F & W. :cool1::cool1:

That's it for now. Enjoy your evening, friends!

I've always wanted to try Flame Tree BBQ, it sounds really good there! And the view looks gorgeous! But I do fear those ankle-nipping birds! Good thing your only animal company was a cute bunny! :goodvibes

Thanks for the walk through AK this evening.:banana::banana:

Looks like the tigers were being sort of cooperative. The only time I have seen them in action is when is was 45 degrees out. :cold:

I love that blue bird; the little head feathers crack me up!

I love the tigers, too! I could seriously watch them all day, they're so pretty.

We are at just seven weeks today, so seven weeks from right now, I will finally be back at WDW! I actually called the vet yesterday to make an appointment for my dog's rabies vaccine and anything else he needs, since I'm boarding him there the week we are gone. For some reason, that was what really made me think we are coming up quickly. When I think about the fact that we are at seven weeks, I get a little freaked out because I feel like I still have SO much to get done. And, of course, after the countdown gets out of the forties, it's in the thirties, which to me always mean it's really, really close! :yay:

I love all the animal pictures. Especially the tiger. And the bunny. But I have never seen a bunny with such short ears. Are we sure it was a bunny, or was it something else? So glad those birds don't try to eat the girls!
