Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

No baking yesterday. I managed to go to the grocery store and then pretty much spent the rest of the day on the couch feeling lousy. Hopefully, I can be more productive today since I need to bake a birthday cake for Charles (his b-day is on Tuesday), do laundry, and grade papers. That's just the tip of the to-do list, but those are the priorities.

The culinary tour looks like a lot of fun -- plus, you got to eat zebra domes! :thumbsup2

You know I love the decor of AKL, too! :goodvibes

Grading papers - yuck, yuck, yuck!!!

I hope you were feeling better Sunday. We're all coughing around here, but not feeling too bad. Sinuses, I guess, since my left ear hurts and then right over my eyes there is pressure.

I always think of you at AKL. I plan to send you a Christmas tree picture from there in December.

I didn't know about the Boma tour. How very cool! I have only eaten there for breakfast but would love to eat there for dinner. However, with such picky eaters around me, not sure it wil happen.

I was worried about my group, too. but there was plenty of 'normal' stuff there for everyone to be happy. The roast was sooo good!

I do want to try breakfast there, as well. :thumbsup2 That's actually how I thought I would get my bunch there to start with, but they agreed to dinner, and everyone was pleased.

Just wanted to share some happiness...

6 weeks!!!!!!

I am headed to meet Mom and Trent at Cracker Barrel to eat breakfast together. There is one almost exactly halfway between us. I also finally have my photopass cd so I will try and post some of those this afternoon when we get home.

And surprisingly, someone else joined us for breakfast. Although he needed to shave, it was nice to have the whole crew.

You act so excited to go to Disney World - like you haven't been in years. You were just there this summer. Some people just think they should go all the time. :sad2:

:upsidedow :flower3:

A tour of Boma, sounds cool. How do you arrange that?

They have it right before they open for the evening. I think it was at 4 maybe? You just show up.

MeMom the matchmaker! ;)

I have never heard about the Boma tour, very cool thing to do. Especially since it's free! I bet after this report there is a rush on the Boma tour due to your popularity. :goodvibes

Happy 6 weeks! That is a wonderrrrrful feeling!

Well, if I can't find love for myself, I can find it for others, right? :thumbsup2

Hopefully not enough to make them discontinue it. I don't think it'll be that big of a rush. Like I said, there were only three of us in the 'group'.

The tour looks like fun!
AKL is just so beautiful.

It will be even prettier in December. The AKL tree is so cool.
I think that about all the Disney trees, though. I love how they are so well themed.

Hurrah for six weeks! I cannot believe that there are already Christmas ads on tv but I guess it is time. :santa:

Looks like a fun afternoon at AKL. Thanks for sharing the details of the culinary tour. What a fun free extra treat... complete with zebra dome!

Hallmark had Christmas movies on yesterday. :santa:

We tasted the carrot ginger soup, as well, and it was good. I did not think I would like it, but she gave us some bread, and I dipped the bread in it. It was good. :thumbsup2

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:
Six weeks for you means the same for us!!!!

I think I'll ask Marc if we can go to Cracker Barrel too and pretend we are meeting you guys....

Cracker Barrel was good, and the company was better. They had Christmas decorations up, too, so it was extra fun to look around.

I saw on FB about Crystal Palace on Christmas Day. What time is your ADR?

Wow, I never even knew they did those tours at Boma, and for free! That's looks great :goodvibes

There are no buses like Disney buses :thumbsup2

:yay::woohoo: 6 weeks!! :woohoo::yay:

Good way to get a free zebra dome and learn more about something Disney. If we had wanted to stay, they would also have let us do the same at Jiko.

Love the AKL pics. And Boma is one of my favorites to eat at. LOVE me some zebra domes!! I am glad Cody picked Boma as one of the places to eat at in April. After spending a wonderful day at AK we will enjoy a wonderful dinner there.

I hope you all had a great breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

Boma will be a perfect way to cap off your day. :goodvibes

We all ate plenty at Cracker Barrel and had three boxes left over.

Looks like an awesome day at the AKL!!! Can't wait for more updates, as always

Maybe more pictures tonight. I have to load the last SD card, as I am almost finished with this load of pictures.

Oh my gosh, he would get the biggest kick out of someone doing that! I am pretty sure he'd bow down and then shake hands!

I am so excited about getting to see the lights; I have wanted to for so long, but never thought I'd get to any time soon. My mom saw someone posted about it here on the boards, and then checked the Disney World website just to be sure. I can't wait, it is going to be such a great addition to our trip, and such a treat!

I had no idea Boma offered that tour; that's really cool. It made me excited to eat there again!

Happy SIX WEEKS! In three days, we'll be in the 40's, which also means we will be just seven weeks out :dance3:

Jill can send you a preview on FB when we see the O Lights. :santa:

Keep dancing - it is getting ever, ever closer! :dance3:

Those Boma pics are making me homesick for AKV....We are trying a new resort OKW in Jan but Kidani is our home  Hurray for six weeks!!

I want to stay at OKW sometime, too. It is a pretty place, and I like the beachy feel there.

AKV looks beautiful and the scenery at Boma looks amazing too. I just don't think that I would enjoy the food, except maybe the Zebra domes.

There are enough normal foods there that you would be fine. ::yes::

YAYAYAYAAY for 6 weeks!! Time is going to fly by!!! I can't believe the first semester will be done!! WOWZA!!!!

The October/November/December block of school does seem to go quickly.

Wow I've never seen a pin on a backing paper that has seeds in it. What a clever idea! Now I want to buy a Land pin just for the backing.

You make me miss AKL. We stayed there last September (2010). Looking forward to Poly, but I will miss AKL. Ahhh the fireplace. Many nights we picked up a cocktail at Victoria Falls Lounge (I think that's the name?) and sat by the fire.

And I LOVE Boma - and Zebra Domes!

I kept the seed thing, but now I don't know what I did with it. :sad2:

When will you be at AKL next?

I had really wanted to do the Boma tour on one of our previous trips, but since they start at like 4, it was a weird time to navigate over to AKL before a dinner ADR. But it looks like fun! They let you just go down the buffet line and take what you wanted? Or there were specific things to take?

And I agree, there is definitely no bus like a Disney bus! :goodvibes

The Boma tour look'd like a blast! What a fun thing to do!!

And if you're 6 weeks, that means I'm just 7?!?!! Woo
Hoo!!!!

That Boma Tour sounds really interesting. I would love to do that sometime.

I am excited for you all and your wonderful NYE DIS meet!!!!!! :cool1:

Thankfully, I don't eat the cafeteria food, just in case any of it is remotely related to that menu.

And I am making no bets that Friday's chicken is really truly chicken.

:rotfl: Another good reason I live at home. I only have to eat one cafeteria meal a day instead of three :scared1: I haven't tried the hot meals they have here. I usually just get the pre-made cold sandwiches. They seem safe and they're pretty good

Bella must be from Boston! :rotfl: I am pretty sure I must say "watah." I really never notice how I speak till someone points it out to me. When I was on the phone with Katie once, she said that she loved how I say "garden." I actually watched something on the Ellen show a few weeks ago -- there was a huge fire in an apartment building and a Boston firefighter caught a little boy from a third floor window. When he was talking, I kept on catching how he spoke and thinking, "gosh, I sound like that." He said "ahms," "fiah," etc., which is totally what I say! It's funny because people from the Boston area, like me, and people from the western part of the state sound distinctly different.

I don't even notice your accent because I'm so used to Boston accents :rotfl: When I went to a Sox game with my dad a couple years ago he kept talking in a fake Boston accent. He put up a picture on facebook the next day and the caption said "I went to a game at Fenway Pahk yestahday with my daughtah. We had a great view of the Green Monstah." :rotfl: He's from the Worcester area so his New England accent isn't as strong

I am from the south, and I sound pretty country to you guys, I know, but I could introduce you to some people around here who sound a lot worse. Southerners tend to ay-ud syllables when they talk, so there comes out like thay-ur. I think I am a little mix of dialects, since I moved around when I was younger. Living in Florida, you are around a lot of northeners, so that influenced my speech, I am sure. Although you guys may have me pegged as soon as you hear my country twang, people from around here have tried to figure out where I am from because of my mixed accent. Better known here as ax-ee-yunt. ;)

I didn't have any trouble understanding you or Jill when we met but one of my mom's co-workers in North Carolina has a VERY strong accent. My mom's gotten used to it but I can barely understand her :rotfl:

I love AKL! I want to do that Boma tour next time! I had to call my DH over to see the pictures of the resort and Boma. We both sighed and said, 11 more months and we'll be there!

Yesterday we booked our stay for October 2012 at AKL (we may move at the 7 month mark). We're going to add a night or two at OKW once our new contract clears ROFL since it has some banked points that will need to be used.
I am wearing AKL jewelry today with my animal print sweater, so I'm totally in that mood!

The culinary tour sounds fun! I've never been to Boma (picky eater so I wouldn't likely sample any of the African foods), but it would be interesting to learn how the culture plays into aspects of the decor and to hear about the food. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

No, we were only able to taste those few items. It smelled so good int here, though. Made me wish we had and ADR so we could have stayed. ;)

The Boma tour look'd like a blast! What a fun thing to do!!

And if you're 6 weeks, that means I'm just 7?!?!! Woo
Hoo!!!!

And it seems like weeks go so quickly at school this time of year. We only have four more days this week, then two next week before or Thanksgiving break. December always zooms by!

That Boma Tour sounds really interesting. I would love to do that sometime.

I am excited for you all and your wonderful NYE DIS meet!!!!!!

It was a nice way to spend a few Disney moments doing something a little out of the ordinary. I always think of Amanda now and wonder how she is.

Another good reason I live at home. I only have to eat one cafeteria meal a day instead of three :scared1: I haven't tried the hot meals they have here. I usually just get the pre-made cold sandwiches. They seem safe and they're pretty good

I can do accents - British and Bostonian, as well, but they would definitely have a southern twang to them. ;)

See, if you only had my AKL bathroom, you'd just totally be there in every way!

AKL is an easy place to love, isn't it? :thumbsup2

I promise, you would find plenty to eat, and the dessert bar is incredible. The roast was so good! I would go back just for that. :goodvibes

Adding you to the list. :thumbsup2

MeMom/Jill - 7 or 8
Momof2TNboys - 4
Wigd and Shocker - 2
Pat, the one and only Poolrat - 1 or 2

Everyone else, add your name and number, if you will, and we'll see what kind of crowd we're going to have.

And you have to go through this bruising ordeal how often?

Big day for Baylor Monday! :dance3:
Don't spoil him too much. He's about to become a 'bratty' teenager, you know. ;) I'm guessing he wants new basketball stuff - shorts, shirts, breakaways, ....

Oh how I wish I could be on this list. Anita & I already had a "text" conversation about this. I gave my deputy the last week of Dec. off. We usually split the week but with Christmas falling on the weekend I did not take any more time off. The last week of the year is one of our busiest in our office. Everyone is registering their vehicles at the end of the month & also paying property taxes so that they can claim it on their income tax. So the last week of the year is not one I can take off. (when I retire maybe)!! But that is YEARS away.

Here we are back at Animal Kingdom, a park we really, really like. :)

Jill's group had a Photopass picture made.

The Photopass girl who took the picture.

Every park is so unique in its decor.

If you had smell-o-puter, you would have a wonderful aroma wafting out of the 'puter right now.

DisneySummer20112ndset946.jpg

Brooklynn wanted to play at The Boneyard.

I think John went to ride Everest.

While we were sitting there talking, I realized a back had come off of one of my earrings.

Or as Heather's Hollie would say earrangs. :cutie:

Can you believe that in all those tiny pebbles,

DisneySummer20112ndset952.jpg

Jill found it??? :thumbsup2

When John got back, it was time to think about food.

Really, we think about food a lot when we are in Disney World. :goodvibes

Good job finding the back of the earring Jill! :thumbsup2

I'd really love a smell-o-puter, especially when looking at food pictures. :goodvibes

Wow Jill, good find! My husband has eagle eyes as well. I can look for something tiny on the ground for minutes and he will come find it immediately.

Your AK tour sounds interesting. It is always amazing to hear all the things you all can fit into a trip. :thumbsup2

In 3 trips, we still haven't been to the boneyard. :confused3 Your girls always seem to enjoy it though. I fully intended to get there this time, but... you know how it is. Too much to do, too little time. :sad2: DH and I wondered on this last trip what Disney would charge for a monthly rate on a room. When we retire, we want to go and stay from October-May. :) Hey, if you're going to dream, dream big, right?

We spend A LOT of time thinking about food at Disney too. Too much time really. I have an extra 3 pounds right now to prove it. And that was after walking 10+ miles a day. When you do the math, it makes you wonder just how many calories you are consuming in those Disney meals to walk that much, and still gain weight!

I kept the seed thing, but now I don't know what I did with it. :sad2:

When will you be at AKL next?
We are scheduled for dinner at Boma one night when we're there in December. Not sure if it will happen, but I'd really like to see the tree at AKL.

I need to get a smell-o-puter!

Can't believe Jill found the earring back in the sand!

The Boma tour looks like fun! And I cannot imagine being that far away from home! I'm sure there's a lot of CM's like that..

I'm jealous of Jill and her zebra dome.

And I'm also jealous of Jill's amazing eye sight. How did she ever find your "earrang" back?! Lucky!

Impressive archaeologist skills, Jill! I've never been to the Boneyard (not ever having been to Disney with little ones), but it looks like a fun place to play! (But not the most fun place to lose a tiny object!)

I can imagine that many kids have hours of fun in that boneyard...I haven't been there myself since I was a kid, the first year AK opened!

Jill must have supersonic eyes to find your earring back! :thumbsup2

Food is all I generally think about, EVER, so in WDW it just gets that much worse :rotfl:

Very impressive that Jill was able to find the back of your earring!

Food is a very big part of Disney trips, it's all so yummy! You have to make sure you get a sampling of all your favorites while you are there.
