Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

I love Resort specific merchandise, so sad they pulled it I would have loved a keepsake from the Boardwalk this trip :(

It's funny you reported on the Poly this morning, I had a dream last night that I hated the BWI so much I asked to be transferred to the Poly haha!

Love the girls patriot outfits. I miss the days I could dress my girls like that.:sad2:

Beautiful pictures of the Poly. It's my someday dream resort.:cloud9:

I see some cute girlies!! They looked so cute that night in their matching outfits!!

I've been MIA recently but I made it over to vote for your room!
I agree with you about keeping the halloween party family friendly!

Oh & I hope they aren't trying to make it scary!! I would hate that.

I wonder though if they're trying to attract the families with older kids - maybe the Not So Scary part sounds too "kiddish", just a guess. I hope it stays the same!!

I'm totally with you on keeping things family friendly at Disney. I worry about things changing there as well, not just with the party but other things too. It seems like all the other animated film makers have crude humor, violence, "adult" storylines/punchlines, and even cuss words, and I'd hate to see Disney follow in those footsteps. I was worried about that with Toy Story 3. It had the scene with Barbie commenting on the 'ascot' that I could have done without. I hope that isn't the beginning of a new trend for Disney because I would be extremely disappointed.

One thing I am certain of is that our 2011 society is trying to snuff out any and all things wholesome and family friendly. There is absolutely NO such thing as family TV anymore, and we are finding it harder and harder to do activities with our DD outside of church sponsored events. I think it is very discouraging that so many people are not happy with wholesome, good clean fun anymore.

And I'd actually like to see MNSSHP go in the opposite direction. I wish it was more of a fall carnival type thing than a Halloween party. Anytime you throw in the word Halloween, you never know what you're going to get. Personally, I wish they would do away with the "Halloween" aspects of it altogether and just have a fall theme, but that is just my opinion (and you what they say about opinions). So I would be be very sad to hear that things are going to the dark side for the party. Let's hope that's not the case. Surely a company as large and successful as Disney realizes that it's bread and butter is in families and especially families with young children who don't want to be chased by a chainsaw wielding zombie with one bloody eyeball hanging out of its socket! :crazy2:

I LOVE the girls in their dresses!! They are so cute! Can't wait to hear more about the fireworks and your evening. I love the resort specific stuff. I know they brought it back because I saw it last trip. I wonder if it will still be there when I go back in 3 days!!! Sorry, just a little excited.:cool1:
I agree with the Halloween party. I think right now, they are just trying to bring more people in by dropping the NSS part. From what I have heard, it is the same as always. I will let you know personally in 8 days!! :cool1:
Can you tell I am ready to go?

I'm excited to hear MNSSHP details - I'm thinking I'll take my niece next October. She'll be 3 1/2 then so I wonder if she'd have fun.

I voted and copied Wigd's FB post and put it on my wall and some of my friends have voted too! Love it!

I will go home and look - in my garage I have a BOX of books! I will find some 2nd grade-ish books and send them to you. We have lots of stuff that I can send to you for your class! My kids will LOVE to help other kids!!!

I remember being very young and being at a party where we had to sit in a circle and pop a balloon. I hated it, and I did not want to pop mine. I have never liked that sound ever since.

As you may remember I do not like popping balloons ( type slowly to make sure you type popping and not pooping - two p's and not two o's):)

Still don't. We would play that game and I think I was small like Bella so I could not pop the balloon and that also made me self conscious and then when it did pop I went slamming down onto the floor onto my then not so padded behind.

I still need to get this picture. I always seem to be there when it is dark so I can't get it.

Totally off topic from the 4th of July trip -

Is anybody else a little concerned that they have dropped the Not So Scary from the MNSSHP advertisements? I hope they are not going to try to 'compete' with the wildly popular Horror Nights at Universal by trying to add a fear factor into Disney's party. I had already thought about this when I saw a particular Mickey Halloween face that looked a little scarier than in the past, and now I see that the ads have dropped NSS from the title. I'm for keeping it very, very family friendly. :thumbsup2

I have not seen this year's advertisments or noticed the absence of NSS. Hopefully it was just to free up some space on the ads to take out some words.
I would hope that by now Mickey and Not so Scary would be synonymous. :confused3

The Classroom Contest is up, so if you can throw a vote my way, my kids would very much enjoy the new Disney books for the classroom.

http://www.wdwradio.com/2011/09/my-classroom-went-disney-vote-now/

Tell your friends, too, if you will. Thanks for the help. :goodvibes

We're dropping rapidly in percentages. I knew that would happen when everyone else got word that the contest was on. If you can promote it on your FB walls, I would appreciate it. I bet somebody at the bottom is going to come up right at the end and blow us all away! :car:

My paperwork is turned in, so the biggest burden of the evaluation is off my back now! :woohoo:

Hi MeMom,

Brook posted the link on her FB page, and I voted! I truly hope that you win, I know your kids will love the books! :goodvibes

Unfortunately, I can't remember the price of the Mingo with Mickey ears. I want to say low $20's, but I am blanking out at the moment. I thought of you when I saw them... guess I should have taken a picture. My DH wouldn't have even thought I was crazy as I was taking pics of lots of things and sending to my kiddos for gift ideas! My DD wants a garden gnome and they were right beside the Mingo, so I was concentrating on that more. I wish I would have thought of keeping the Mingo inside when I was there, then I'd have it in my family room right now! :goodvibes I have a friend going in a couple of weeks and at this point I may have to send her an empty suitcase along, just to bring back all the things that I should've gotten when I was there! :rotfl:

Don't feel guilty about entering the contest. Just think how much your kids deserve those books! You still could put out a request for yard sale books too... :rolleyes1

Have a great week and don't let those administrators get to you!

Ah, I love the girls matching Fourth of July dresses! So adorable!!! Brooklyn running while covering her ears is too funny, and I love Bella all decked out for ballet class. Such precious girls!

They were pretty cute, I think. :lovestruc

I always have dreamed to stay at the Poly too...it just looks so beautiful there! I love the girls' patriotic dresses, they're so cute! :goodvibes

I did notice that too about the not-so-scary being dropped! I just looked on the Disney site though, and it seems to still be not-so-scary there, with a picture of Dopey and some kids dancing in front of the castle. Probably the least scary ad for a Halloween party they could find, so my guess is it still should be the same-ish.

I just hope they keep family-friendly in mind and don't veer too far off the good Disney ways.

-AWWWW! I, once again, love the girls outfits! They are just too cute!
-Love the one of Brooklynn and Bella holding hands! Just precious!
-Love the Poly bag and shirt!
-I'm with Bella and Brooklynn-I love looking at jewelry!
-I've never been to MNSSHP, but I do agree with keeping it family friendly. If they want something scary then why not do one attraction at hollywood studios? They should still keep everything else family friendly!

It's worth going to. The parade is awesome, and it's fun to see the characters all dressed up for Halloween.

A special event at Hollywood Studios for the scarier crowd sounds like a great idea!

I love Resort specific merchandise, so sad they pulled it I would have loved a keepsake from the Boardwalk this trip :(

It's funny you reported on the Poly this morning, I had a dream last night that I hated the BWI so much I asked to be transferred to the Poly haha!

Supposedly they are bringing some resort merchandise back. We shall see. There was a time when even Pop had a good variety of clothes and other resort items.

Love the girls patriot outfits. I miss the days I could dress my girls like that.:sad2:

Beautiful pictures of the Poly. It's my someday dream resort.:cloud9:

I dream of staying at Poly, too. :goodvibes

It will be interesting to see when Brooklynn first refuses to go matchy matchy with her little sister.

I see some cute girlies!! They looked so cute that night in their matching outfits!!

That was a good evening, wasn't it? :)

I've been MIA recently but I made it over to vote for your room!
I agree with you about keeping the halloween party family friendly!

Spread the word. We're falling behind. :sad1:

Oh & I hope they aren't trying to make it scary!! I would hate that.

I wonder though if they're trying to attract the families with older kids - maybe the Not So Scary part sounds too "kiddish", just a guess. I hope it stays the same!!

We'll see what the future holds. We may be saying 'We knew it when...' one of these days.

I don't very often turn my TV on. I watch House Hounters sometimes, and soemtimes I'll turn on TV Land to watch Raymond shortly before I go to bed. Most nights, the TV never comes on. What happened to all the funny and wholesome 30 minute shows? It's all reality TV and competitions for dancing and boyfiends and girlfriends and such, and I can't stand any of that kind of stuff just on commercials, much less to watch the show.

I LOVE the girls in their dresses!! They are so cute! Can't wait to hear more about the fireworks and your evening. I love the resort specific stuff. Yeah, you are slightly excited. I will be, too, in about three weeks. It all looks pretty much the same, but maybe this is just the first step in the wrong direction. Time will tell.

She will have a blast!!!

I hope they're not trying to get more of Universal's crowd in a way that makes them lose their Disney standards. There really doesn't appear to be any big difference in past parties, according to the map.

No popping balloons for me.
And most assuredly none of the other kind you referred to!

Hi MeMom,

Brook posted the link on her FB page, and I voted! I truly hope that you win, I know your kids will love the books! :goodvibes

They would. They're proud of our room when anyone comments on it. ;)

I'll take yard sale books any day. If the other rooms are more worthy, I hope they win and enjoy the books. Any way around, they're going to the kids, so that's cool with me.

Just posted it on my wall! :goodvibes

Thanks so much!

Hey MeMom and Jill!! Just checking in with ya'll!

Love the girls sweet matching outfits! Its so hard for me to find any for Hollie and Hannah since there are quite a few years between them! ;)

Oh, and I shared your link on my facebook page MeMom!! Hopefully I will get you a lot of votes! :goodvibes

The girls look adorable in their matching 4th of July outfits, so cute and I love the two tiki guys hiding from one another (well, one's hiding and one's searching, but... I think you know what I'm talking about). Definitely a great resort to go to for 4th of July :goodvibes I really hope to stay at the Poly someday too.

Totally off topic from the 4th of July trip -

I don't think you have to worry about this MeMom. The purpose of MNSSHP originally WAS to compete with the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, which personally I would never step foot in (I'm such a wimp), but to cater to the younger audience, so it is definitely not a matter of adding a fear factor into it. Also, in DLR, they have a similar Halloween party to MNSSHP, just not with as much to do, called Mickey's Halloween Party, no fear factor at all. I wouldn't worry and I've kept up with all the things going on involving MNSSHP (wishing someday I would go). They have changed a few things, but it's really the same. I don't think Disney would drop it's image of being a place where you get to be a kid again just to compete, I could never see them go that low.

The girls look so adorable in their 4th of July wear! Very partriotic indeed!:goodvibes My niece has the same dress that she wore that day! I bet the Poly was a lovely place to spend the evening!

As for MNSSHP no longer being NSS...I hadn't noticed it! From all of the stuff I've seen online it looks the same as every other one I've been to so far! I would think the only reason they would drop it from the title is because it is a tongue-twister and a little long. I really would hope they wouldn't be moving to Universal territory - plus their characters who are villains are certainly worlds different! I will let you know if there were any big differences when I get home next Sunday!

Awww, the girls look so beautiful in their 4th of July dresses.

I love the Polynesian. I, too, will spend at least one night there in the future. Such a beautiful resort.

Thanks, Heather. We've dropped to second now, but we'll keep plugging along. Whoever wins, the kids will get the benefit in the end. I think there are some nice entries and fun classrooms. :)

I'm sure the day will come in the not too distant future that Brooklynn will not want to match. Maybe she'll go for coordinating, instead. ;) They normally don't dress alike at home, but Jill likes to have them like that in Disney World. Just makes things simpler.

As far as I can tell from this year's map, all is well. :thumbsup2

I'm all for them having something a little more geared to the teens, and having an event at Hollywood Studios separate from Mickey's Not So Scary, as someone mentioned earlier, sounds like a great idea!

I love the Polynesian. I, too, will spend at least one night there in the future. Such a beautiful resort.

I want to be able to afford to do that on a NYE or a 4th or sometime when we can watch some special fireworks and then just walk back to the room instead of get into the mass exodus mess. Although I will say, it was not bad at all when we left this past 4th. I was pleasantly surprised. We had a car, but traffic was not bad. I think a ton of people went on the 3rd.
