Sorry, I have not been here very much the last couple of weeks. Life has gotten in the way. Nothing bad, just really, really busy. I am going back to catch up. I hope that you have a wonderful trip.
Busy for everyone. We understand. Jill used the coupons toward the girls' Halloween costumes, in case we haven't told you. They were much appreciated.
Hope you enjoy catching up on the report. Unless Jill gets the chance to do any updates in the next few days, there will be a lull in the action.
I am doing my bi-monthly check in
I hate that I'm so behind. Mostly, I'm so sorry about your friends Dad. Thier famly is lucky to have you as a friend. I will say a prayer for them and you!
Not sure if you all are going to try to go to the zoo's halloween thing. It is SO much fun. We are going Sat, Oct 22 - hint... hint...
I hope you have a magical trip with Brooklyn. Can't wait to hear all about it.
We just went last week, and on the heels of a Disney trip, I am guessing that we won't be doing another zoo trip. I hope your zoo day is as nice as ours was. The weather was great. They had started putting up a few lights, but the big Halloween stuff wasn't out yet.
The Wildlife on Wheels program came to our school this week. They brought a hissing cockroach, a hyacinth macaw, and a boa constrictor. They told us that one of those giraffes is going to be delivering a baby any day now, so be on the lookout for information about that when you go.
I know you probably won't see this before you go, but I just wanted to chime in on the whole "I look terrible in pictures" thing.
I used to think that I was too fat to be in the pictures. I took them instead. I'd see myself in a picture and all I could see were fat thighs, bulging belly, round face... You get the idea.
But someone (a DISer) pointed out that this is who I am. This is the person my kids see and love. Why would I deprive them of the memories we are making together by not being in the pictures? Someday they'd look at them and say, why isn't Mom in any pictures? She always took them. I figured someday, they'd want to see the whole family in some pictures. (Thank goodness for photopass photographers!) So I decided to suck it up and get some good family shots. I still don't like myself in a lot of them, but I've stopped caring. This is me. Good, bad, fat, bad hair, crooked smile, whatever. My kids don't care, why should i?
I'm not going to tell anyone what to do, or how to feel about themselves, but just offering another perspective.
That said, now go have an AWESOME time and make some memories!!!!
Since sleep wasn't a big part of my evening, I did see this.

I'll try to get in a picture or two, but I won't like what I look like. I'll do it so my grandkids can have a faint memory of what I looked like. I'm sure their parents/my children will tell them of the sacrifice I made to have those pictures made.
*********************************************
In usual fashion, Kay arrived about four hours behind schedule last night. By the time I went out to the driveway when we heard the car door, she had gone from driver's side to back passenger's side and had managed to lose her keys. Our girls were already asleep, of course, so Breanna was not happy about not getting to play with them.
I have my hair rolled and my make-up on, so the last few things can now go into the suitcase and we can load the car. We're flying out of Birmingham, since Jill said those were the best flight prices this time. She checked us in yesterday morning, so we're ready to roll.
I may or may not make it home from the trip alive. Brooklynn has been known to cover my mouth and nose when I begin to snore. I wake up gasping for breath as she is smiling at me.

That's if she's in a good mood. If she is trying to fall asleep watching a Disney movie, she says in an agitated voice, "MeMom, stop it. I can't hear!"
Here's a crazy coincidence about this trip that I just learned yesterday. One of Kay's brothers is going to be in Disney World with his two kids, and she hasn't seen him in almost two years. (Her family is spread out all over the country.) They are staying at POR. I am so excited that she will get to see them. Her brother's wife died several years ago from cancer, and he has been on his own with the kids - a boy and girl set of twins. I think they are young teens now, but I will have to ask her. I remember her saying that he really took it hard the first year. I hope they have a wonderful time getting away and having fun, and I hope Kay gets to spend all the time she wants with them.
Everyone is still asleep here for now, but that will change soon. The house will slowly and quietly awaken in the next hour, and we will roll things out to the car in the dark. We were supposed to do this before dark yesterday, but Kay's delay sort of threw a kink in those works.
I still don't think it has hit me. Part of it is because I don't have my whole crew going, so I can't let myself be completely happy. I am sad to be leaving Jill and Bella behind. The thought of Bella's face when she wakes up and discovers that we are gone is not one that makes me happy. I will miss my big girl, too, and the laughter we always share on these girl trips. She made the executive decision not to go, though, due to work and finances. She wanted to try the beach trip, so she did, and she decided that it really wasn't her thing. She said it really helped John, too, as he discovered that a beach trip was nowhere near as good as a Disney trip both financially and in the availability of things to do. I am glad that it will only be two and a half months before we will all be going again.
Anyway, it's time to pack up the 'puter and say goodbye. Jill will FB update and do it here, too, I am sure. It's time to play 'Guess the Building', so lay your bets on where we will end up at Pop Cenchy. The only two buildings I have not stayed in are Lady and Mowgli and Baloo, so I'll hope for either of those. I think a lot of both of those buildings are preferred, though, so I won't count on it.
You guys have a great weekend!
