Mine Train soft openings

So I'm planning to be in the MK the week of April 28-May 2 and am hoping to at least be able to ride the Mine Train during a soft opening.

If the media event occurs on April 30-May 2, am I better off trying to ride earlier in the week (i.e., April 28 and 29) as opposed to later, or will it matter?

Also hoping for a soft opening. I do know that they like to be certain that things are running smoothly and properly to avoid any issues during the media events, so hoping for perhaps operations during morning or evening EMH or something to that effect.

This is our first time going at this time of year... how is the weather in your past stays during this time period? Our first visit was in the middle of June 2012. It rained almost every day for a long long time...

We will also be there during that same time period. Our MK days are the 29th and 30th...hoping for a chance on the 29th! I did notice that I couldn't' make any fastpasses for anything in the new fantasyland expansion on the 30th until 2pm...I assumed that was due to the Media thing.

This is our third late April trip and we have experienced good weather each time. It rained all day one day on our last trip but then it was fine after that. The mornings can be cool but afternoons are warm and we have always been fine to go to the pool or the water park.

Just saw on another forum that someone in the parks today saw Imagineers riding the ride, and overheard CMs talking about cast member previews starting March 18th.

based on what it looks like I would say that might a stretch. End of march I think is a good possibility so like maybe the last week in March or very early April as the media event is set for April 30th. I still think they have a lot of detailing to do.

We will be there that week as well! April 24th-May 3rd. Our Magic Kingdom Days are April 26th and May 2nd.

I am curious about the weather as well. I desperately wanted to go in Feb, but my son had a class that he couldn't miss. I don't handle heat well, and hope that it will be tolerable!

We've done some may trips and weather is generally nice although I usually expect a daily quick Florida rain shower.

Good luck to all of you! I know it is frustrating trying to plan a vacation and hope a new ride is open in time. We are going in September...and if the ride is not going by that time...there will have been disasterous problems!

the new parade just popped up a week ago and the parade opens next week so I would say a week or two prior to their official opening date.

I've not been at Disney during a media event for a new attraction. Can I expect the Magic Kingdom to be extra busy that day--especially in Fantasyland? April 30th is our last full day and we expect to be in MK for the majority of it.

I'm wondering the same thing. We are going the last week in May. Since I have read some people say changing fastpass + selections have been a pain. I wonder if we should leave a slot open for the Mine Train or should we add another ride in the slot and try to change it to the Mine Train if it opens

So many fingers crossed! Ours too are. April 13-27 and hopeful. Even so it will be so cool to see the ride's outside scenery.
