Mine train letdown

I was letdown, too. It is too short. The seven dwarfs faces are great technology -- very similar to Belle's Tale, but besides that, it was a more tame coaster than Big Thunder.

This might be a problem with expectation. I think this is a family ride designed for the youngest and smallest of children, so of course it is visually rich, not too long, and not too thrilling.

Perhaps Disney can work with expectations, since it appears they did the ride just as they should have.

Reminds me of the boats in AK (that are long gone). They were a quiet, lazy river ride, but guests complained because they weren't like the Jungle Cruise. A delightful ride, but expectations closed it down.

Than k you for posting this!!
If I don't get to ride it-I'll just do the tried and true rides :)

Funny I think the expansion was extremely well done from a themeing perspective they added a great "kid friendly" coaster, BOG is one of the best things they have done to MK in a very long time. My only slight is the interior of the Little Mermaid feels cheapo, the exterior is great.

I'm always confused by the complaints that it's too short. EE: 2min, 50sec Space Mtn: 2min., 35sec BTMRR: approx. 3min RnR: 1min, 22sec Why does this have to be any longer? Most coasters are short. You can cover a lot of track in no time at all.

Splash Mountain is bang for your buck in terms of ride length. Don't mind waiting in line for 30 minutes to an hour if the ride has some length.

Enjoy it for what it is, a child's ride in Fantasy Land at Magic Kingdom, I will be enjoying my first visit in Sept and went to Disneyland for the first time last yr. Dumbo is just a ride that goes round and round but it was Dumbo!!
I can't wait to ride the Mine Train with my girls :) I do have a FP booked for it tho.

Unfortunately, Disney has lost its creativity -- which is why it now resorts to buying companies that are more creative than it is, (Lucas, Marvel, etc).

I personally don't wait over 30 minutes for many rides....characters yes, but not rides lol!

When hearing about mine train in progress, I did think that they cars were going to rock back & fourth a little more wildly than they did, but the thing that made New Fantasyland AMAZING for me was the detailing. It's that you walk through that castle archway/wall and you're literally transported into Belle/Ariels/Dumbo's world! It's completely magical in that way, you are walking through a movie, the tavern's there, the popcorn stall is nicknamed as one of maurice's inventions, the music pumped throughout the areas is all fitting, there's freaking peanuts embedded into the ground at circus.

The best part of the mine train was definitely the indoor animatronics! They were done beautifully, but I do wish MK had gotten another more "thrill" ride.

I like your description of NFL! I feel the same way, I love it and feel it's wonderfully themed. We've eaten at BOG 4x and each time I've walked in, I'm amazed. LOVE the theming of the Little Mermaid ride, in and out, and I actually really enjoy the ride, too. Just walking by Gaston's tavern gives me such a good feeling:goodvibes and I know how corny that sounds but it's true lol. I've enjoyed watching SDMT evolve on our last few trips and am looking forward to riding it next month. TOT and RnRC are my faves so I don't think I'll be wowed by the ride itself, but hoping I find the theming just as great as the rest of NFL

Where do we begin...

In Lucas they have a strong franchise beginning in the 70's. In Marvel, which they can't use in Orlando, they have a company that was almost bankrupt but have one hell of a following with recent movies. I wouldn't call either more or less creative, but they have assets and intellectual property which are valuable. Very valuable.

And if this was a slam, you do realize that Universal gave up creative rights to HP, don't you? Both parks successfully leverage to their respective advantage.

I was underwhelmed the first time I rode it. I got off and was like that's it. I think the hype didn't help.

The second time was at dusk (when you can see inside the cottage without the glare of the sun) and we must have been sitting in a better seat, because I enjoyed it much more. My teenagers liked it too.

I think the FL expansion is a visual delight! I could just walk around and take in the sights. I love going early when you can hear the "animal" sounds by Belle's Cottage and Be Our Guest.

Just returned from 18 days at WDW. I'm probably going to be bashed for this but...I wouldn't wait over 30 mins for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We rode it twice using FP+. The second time was a better experience, but it's over in a couple of minutes and there is nothing IMHO great or exciting about it! I know it's suppose to be a family friendly ride and I like that, but..where is the WOW factor? The whole Fantasyland expansion to me is just a disappointment :(

The line was down to 30 minutes one night during EMH when we were there and we still opted not to ride it again. Now I love the ride and will totally get the FP for it every chance I get. I don't find it a disappointment but it's not worth more than a few minutes in line to me.

Frozen seemed to resonate pretty well with a few people.

I said this already in other threads when the same subject comes up. Disney didn't hype this ride, the fan community did. And fanboy expectations got only higher as everyone waited seemingly forever for it to finish.

The ride was always targeted to a young audience, and it pleases the vast majority of that demographic just fine. Anyone expecting 60mph, EE, or even Big Thunder-type thrills wasn't paying attention and got caught up in the fan hype.

Well, you can't blame me. I tried to tell you all just how short the ride was and "how little dark ride portion" there actually is in this ride way back in February.

It's like finding a black fly in your Chardonnay.

What I didn't consider was just how bad the sunlight affects the final scene where SW dances in the cottage at the end to where it's completely wasted.

You can't blame a guy for trying. :rolleyes1

Uhm I don't even know where to begin....

Parks: Radiator Springs, Mystic Manor, Ratatouille, DisneySea. Yeah no creativity what so ever. Star Wars land once the general public get to see what is planned if were taking WDW only but you mentioned Disney as a whole.

Movies hmm, I feel like their is some snow related movie that has become a major deal, the name escapes me something like freezer or frostbite? Anyway yeah no good popular Disney movies as of late either. Have you been to DL World of Color anybody? Disney has not lost creativity, Iger has the creative team on a short lease in Orlando.

As for buying companies that's called capitalism. Why do people spout nonsense.

Thank you!! Almost word for word what I wanted to say. You did it so I didn't have to!

Very true lol. But unlike the previous poster I don't seen "buying companies" as a bad thing. If Comcast never bought Universal I doubt they would be doing the things they are doing.

If a corporation buys a company that company is now part of that corporation to section it off makes no sense. It's like saying ESPN or ABC is entirely on their own, no Walt Disney Corp is their parent. So anything they do good or bad hits Disney. On a side note please god let the new Star Wars movies be good I have high hopes because of JJ. Abrams, please Disney don't ruin SW. I will "stand by" them but if they screw up SW I will be pissed to put it lightly.

I completely agree. If Comcast hadn't bought Universal then I really doubt they could have survived.

I have faith in Abrams. He is talented. I really enjoyed his Star Trek reboot in 2009. I'm a big fan of SW (stood in a line 3 blocks long back in '77) and I think he will do an admirable job. I thought Lucas knew what he was doing too, though. One can only hope that Jar Jar Binks doesn't make a cameo.:lmao:
