Mine train letdown

Just returned from 18 days at WDW. I'm probably going to be bashed for this but...I wouldn't wait over 30 mins for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We rode it twice using FP+. The second time was a better experience, but it's over in a couple of minutes and there is nothing IMHO great or exciting about it! I know it's suppose to be a family friendly ride and I like that, but..where is the WOW factor? The whole Fantasyland expansion to me is just a disappointment :(

I am going to agree with you as the new FL was very..." That's it?" For us. We haven't seen the mine train yet, will in a couple of months. But last year, the whole unveiling of new FL was very underwhelming for us too. I am looking forward to seeing the mine train, but must admit Harry potter has my attention for this trip.

Fantasyland is meant to be for young kids.

Dumbo
Peter Pan
Ariel
Circus water attraction
Barnstormer (love this ride)
Small World
Philharmagic
Carrousel
Castle

Nothing about this area screams exciting or intense or WOW except the looks of it. Is the theme-ing on the inside not good? I think Disney did a disservice to the ride playing it off like a "coaster" giving people a false assumption from what I have read so far.

Absolutely agree. That stupid sunglasses commercial, included.

I'm going in expecting an exceptionally detailed, yet fairly mild coaster with fantastic theming. And I can't wait! I got three fastpasses for it!

Sorry that you were disappointed in the FL expansion. We were there before it officially opened and before the crowds hit and we 'loved' it - thought it was well designed and perfect for what it was intended for - families! Now, we have plans to see the SDMT and are really glad it's geared toward families, and not just another coaster thrill ride.

I was letdown, too. It is too short. The seven dwarfs faces are great technology -- very similar to Belle's Tale, but besides that, it was a more tame coaster than Big Thunder.

Why on earth would you expect to to be anything more? This is how I've heard it explained for the last few months. It's not Disney's fault for people expecting more.

You are 100% correct !

It's a ride that most 3yos can ride....it has never been described as a massive coaster like EE.

With that said- seeing the POV many times- it's just too short and only has a quick maybe 30 second themed area from what I can tell. (except for like 5 seconds at the end).

I really love splash....even without the hill splash is a great ride with a massive themed area.

Actually, I'll edit my last post. It IS DIsney's fault for making more casual fans who don't pay such close attention think that it's gonna be a big coaster.

But no one who posts here (or who follows Disney news at all) should be able to use that as excuse.

It has been said to be between Barnstormer and BTMR.....and it is.
But, it is too short!
I would not wait in line for it more and a couple minutes. The 5 minute wait with FP+ was just right.
It is really cute inside and a very smooth ride......it just needs to be longer.

The rest of FL is beautiful and I think they did a great job on it.

I was honestly disappointed in Dumbo too. No Wow factor there. My 4 year old loved it but she is just a kid, what does she know?

I mean, it didn't even go upside down.

I am very disappointed to hear this. I am going back to WDW after four years because the last time we were there in fall 2010, Fantasyland was a mass of construction walls and we hated it. We new something bigger and better was coming.

We did DL/CA in 2012 ... waiting for FLE to be completed. I suspect I will be disappointed as well. I am sad.

At least I don't put all my eggs in one basket and will be at Busch Gardens, Sea World and Universal as well on this trip.

I really don't see much that is new about 'new fantasyland'....A kiddie coaster- with 30 seconds of theming, 2 dumbos instead of 1, a place to eat lunch that felt jam packed to us, and a little mermaid ride that most have been really underwhelmed with. New FL is a nice layout but hardly anything truly spectacular.

We like disney a lot but I really can't wait until my son is a bit older and we can go to parks that are truly expanding. Right now Disney WORLD is like the stepsister of the disney parks....nothing good going on.

We love the theming of FL....my young adult kids love big rides but we also appreciate the look and feel of this new section...was not expecting thrill ride experiences here! So maybe that that's why we were not underwhelmed!

TBH, I won't wait in line for more than 30 minutes for anything. That being said, I liked the ride just fine. I would have liked it to be longer and with more "scenes" but overall it was about what I was expecting. I can see where people who had it "built up" in their minds to be something different or grandiose would be disappointed.

In 2012, we rode the Little Mermaid ride at DL/CA. I hear the queue is better in WDW but I was totally unimpressed by the actual ride. Guess my plans may change just a little. I have BOG reservations for our last night there. Maybe my Fantasyland plans will be shortened a bit.

That's how I see it,from the beginning I knew it would be a nicer themed jr coaster between the Barnstormer/Goofini and BTMR.I mean the 7DMT wasn't in the original plans for the new Fantasyland, there was supposed to be more princess meet and greets instead of this ride. Then Disney realized it was insane for their major expansion to be totally aimed at little girls between 5-10 and switched plans to add the 7DMT ride. The space for something bigger and more impressive just isn't there.I haven't ridden it yet but will next month but I've seen the videos and they're exactly what I expected,it's a nice cute short ride but a good addition to MK in my eyes.
