~*~ Mindyjoy's May 19 2012 Disneyland Wedding TR ~*~ Trip Report Has Begun!

Oh wow Mindy, I love the proposed length of the dress!!! It will be so pretty!!

I hope so, thank you!

Amen! So sorry for the miscredit. And I think even if you left it long.. but took it up about 3" to have exposed hot pink tulleing.. OMG.

That's a great idea, too! I know I need to do something with the length because it's just a bit too short as is. I love the idea of having pink tulle sticking out.

That dress is adorable. I always knew that the perfect dress would come along.

Corinna

Thank you for having faith, even though I didn't, lol :rotfl:

Oh I love these ideas! What a way to take an already beautiful dress and take it the extra mile so that it totally represents you! :dance3:

Thanks, I hope it all works out!

:dance3:
Yay! What an awesome dress. I'm so happy for ya.
Oh, what did you think of the little mermaid?

I still didn't get to go on it!!!!!!!

Wahoo!! So happy for you!! The pink ribbon or tulle will also make it look great, but it looks great regardless! Yay vintage....that's my kind of thing! I'm so happy for you!!!

I'm so glad I got a vintage dress! I've always been a fan of second-hand clothes, ever since I was a teen (yeeeeeears ago, lol) but I never thought I would luck out and find the PERFECT vintage wedding gown! :cloud9:

YAY You found your dress!!! Congrats!

I'm subscribing to your PJ and I just saw your other post. How do I start a PJ? I'm still getting the hang of this!

Hi! Starting a PJ is super easy. Just go to the "Planning our happily ever after" section and click "New Thread." Your first post can simply be an introduction of the two of you and your tentative plans. Some people like to post pictures of themselves and post their actual wedding date, and some don't. You can put as much or as little detail as you like. As you can see with me, I like to put it all out there, haha. Oh, just so you know, you have to have at least 10 posts before you can post pictures. The easiest way to up your post count is to read and post on other people's PJs! :hippie:

haha no problem about the credit. And OMG I love the idea of the hot pink (or regular pink or ANY pink) tulle underneath! I LOVE dresses that do stuff like that!!!!!!!

I'm so excited for you, Mindy. You're going to have a dress that no one else will have!

I really like the top of the dress. I can't wait to see what it looks like when its all finished.

YAY for the ROOTS!!!

:dancer:

AND DOUBLE YAY for finding your dress!!!!!

:dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

It is so beautiful!!! What a find!!! :goodvibes

Thank you for the love, everyone! Sorry I've been MIA (at least for me, haha), but my CTS has been acting up so I've been trying to stay off the computer after work. I've been reading your PJs and trying to keep up but need to type less, basically.

Anyway ......

Today is officially the :cheer2: 10 MONTH MARK :cheer2: so I figured it would be a good time for an update!

- Photography: I sent my payment to the Roots but I haven't received a confirmation from them yet :scared: but it has only been a week so I think I will wait a couple more days and then email them to check. They use a PO Box and I'm assuming they don't check it every single day.

- Dress: I'm still head over heels in love with my dress. :cloud9: I found a seamstress with great reviews on Yelp. I found the referral on Offbeat Bride and it sounds like she specifically does wedding gowns. I called to get just a basic estimate about converting my dress to a corset but she wouldn't give me a price over the phone, saying that she has to see it in person and how it fits on me. I guess I understand that but I was hoping for a basic price before I drive to her studio ... $100, $500, etc??? Oh well, her studio is only about 15 miles from me so it's not too bad. I am going to try to make an appointment for this weekend.

Speaking of Offbeat Bride, I signed up for an eCourse called Bridechilla. It's the first time they are offering this course, developed by the author of OBB and a wedding coordinator. It's a six-week course and I'm excited to try it out; I'm hoping it will help me focus my planning because right now I feel like I'm all over the place! Probably not the best idea to join an ecourse with my carpal tunnel, but oh well, haha. I couldn't resist!

We also finished our STDs this weekend! I still need to finish printing the envelopes and buy postage, but I will post pics once they are mailed out, as I'm not sure if any guests are lurking. :wave2: I can't resist giving you a sneak peek, though.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!! :grouphug:

Yay for a sneak peek! I can't wait to see them all together.

So glad everythings working out for you. What's that online course about?

And stupid seamstress, but at least it's not too far yanno? would suck if she was an hour away and then you didn't like her. =[

I am just catching up on your PJ!

Congratulations on finding your dress! Your dress saga sounds like my bouquet saga; I had several crying spells while looking for what I wanted.

I have heard so many brides tell stories of ending up with a dress that is the complete opposite of what they thought they wanted. I was the same way. I wanted ivory and simple and no veil. I just tried my dress on for the shape and fell in love. I'm so happy that you found something that makes you feel beautiful AND comfortable!

I love the rhinestone in your name on the STD. Too cute!

Thank you! Your wedding pictures are stunning! I'm so sorry about how the Disney photographer acted (SO RUDE) and I hope you get some kind of resolution! I know you can't do the pics over again but hopefully you get some kind of compensation.

It looks like everything is working out the way it's supposed to! Congrats on getting Roots photography and your dress!

I am all caught up and I am so excited for you. I am so glad that you found your perfect dress. It is going to be awesome and totally yours when you have it altered. I can't wait to see the outcome!!! Also congrats on getting roots!! You must be so excited!!!

Hi everyone! I know I've been away, and I probably won't be updating as much as I used to. I am having some problems with my right arm, from my fingers to my shoulder. Which means less time at the computer, and more time with my old friend the heating pad and doing PT. I know it seems like I haven't been around, but I read all your PJs every day, I just can't comment like I used to. :(

So here's some odds and ends that I've done wedding-wise in the last couple of weeks.

I recently found some signs at Ross that I thought would be cute for the cake or welcome table. They were $3-$4 each.

P91378602.jpg

I got some primer to prep them, but not sure what color I will ultimately make them.

P91389403.jpg

I have also started working on my fabric flowers hardcore! Here's the first three I made, but I've probably made about 20 so far and cut out out the fabric for tons more. Now to figure out what to do with them, hmmmm ....

P91376800.jpg

I have also been immersed in the Offbeat Bride: Bridechilla e-course, and it is AWESOME! It is only week 1 but I can already tell it was money well spent.

We have made a couple big decisions in the last few days!

OFFICIANT - DF and I knew right away we would like someone special to us officiate our ceremony, since we aren't religious or spiritual. We immediately thought of my dad, but he wasn't comfortable with the idea. So we racked our brains but couldn't think of anyone so I began researching officiants online. Then, one night at dinner, Tim said, "What about my friend Rich?" Rich is Tim's oldest friend from childhood and he lived in LA for a year so I got to know him and his wife pretty well. He would make a great officiant, and Tim was really excited about the idea, which might mark the first time Tim was excited about anything regarding the wedding. So we called Rich and he said he would be honored! :cheer2: I researched online ordination and found one called Rose Ministries - perfect for the Rose Court Garden! So we are all set for our officiant!

CEREMONY MUSIC - I have been dreaming of a string quartet, but the price through Disney was a deal breaker. I researched trios and quartets online and got three quotes. All of them were just "okay" ... the downside was no one really had a good selection of Disney music! So we decided to contact Ted Nicholson, a harpist I saw on another DLR bride's trip report. http://www.yourharpist.com. After exchanging a few emails with Ted and reviewing his music samples with DF, we knew right away that we was the best choice for us! His rate is $310 for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and he's willing to learn custom pieces if we provide the sheet music, which is good since Reflections from Mulan is not listed on his website (Mulan gets no love, I tell ya!) So, yay for our harpist!

FINALLY, our STDs have been mailed and received, so it's safe to post them now! Just to recap, we did a little storybook, telling the tale of how we met.

First came the folding of the pages and the covers.

P12228103.jpg

(here is my only evidence of Tim helping but he did more than just fold, I swear.)

P12228002.jpg

Next came the assembling, hole punching, and ribbon threading.

P12227900.jpg

Next we attached the magnet to the inside back cover using Glue Dots, which is like that adhesive used when you get a new credit card in the mail.

P12211101.jpg

IMG_1400.JPG

I had some extra hotfix crystals so I decided to jazz up the cover a bit.

P12208400.jpg

It's a little tough to see but Tim has a black crystal and I have a pink one.

Here is the totally finished product!

Then on the back cover we made one of those tag readers that you see on advertisements lately. It leads to our website. :surfweb:

And here is a sample of the envelopes.

My cousin sent me a picture of our grandmother reading her card, which arrived while my cousin was visiting.

So fun to see someone actually looking at it, after I spent so much time designing it! :lovestruc

So that's about it for now, I think! Hope everyone is doing well. :grouphug:

Yay for everything coming together. I love the flowers and your Save the Date books.

Corinna

Sweet Mindy - Everything looks wonderful!! You are so creative and clever!!
Sending my best love for your speedy recovery - be well sweetheart!!

Those are so cool! What a great idea.

Is that rose ministry thing a long course? My gears are turning, wondering who of my friends or family I can ordain :lmao:

Mindy, I hope you're feeling better.

Your S-T-D's are the coolest ones I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're so talented! I have to subscribe to your thread because if your S-T-D's are that awesome then I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve for your wedding!!!

I'm pretty sure you just have to buy the package and they send you a certificate ... haha. Through Rose Ministries it is $33, but if you go through Universal Life Church, it's free. I did it years ago. From what I remember, you take a little oath online promising to be ethical and that's it. They email you a certificate to print out.

Your save the dates are adorable! And how cool is the scanning thing on the back...how did you actually make that??
