What is the min # of pts that you can purchase from Disney? Is it 150 or can you get a smaller number?

ok, let me ask you this....

If someone buys into DVC with say a 50 point contract thru a resale, after a few months and all is in the clear, can they then add-on points (say another 50 points) thru Disney and have the add on points be a different home resort?

Yes - as soon as you are in the DVC system you will be able to add-on regardless how many points you own. Minimum add-on is 25 points (or any larger number - 26, 27, 39, 46, etc.) - at any DVC resort. Add-ons will have the same Use Year as your initial contract.

No, there is no minimum when purchasing a resale contract. That restriction is only for direct purchases. The smallest resale contract available would be 25 points.

Yes. You can add-on in small increments once you are in the system. Many of the developer points threads have indicated that you need to purchase 100 pts to get developer points. (So I'm confirming based on second hand knowledge).

So, if I start with a resale for 50 pts and plan to add on later at akl- can I still get the annual pass discnts as well as any other discounts for dvc members?
I would like to start small and perhaps use a small contract to stay at fort wilderness- and then add pts later so that I can pay cash for the additional contracts. Also, My children are 7,9,&10 and we like to camp, but as they get older it would probably be nice to have bigger accomodations while at Disney.

Yes to all at the present time. Please also note that all DVC studios with the exception of AKV (certian catagories accomadate 5) have a limit of 4 guests.
Also note that perks can change at any time no matter how many points are owned.

Will the studios at AKL sleep 5? I thought it was just some of the 1 bedrooms that would sleep 5.

Studios at AKL will not sleep 5...1 bedrooms will. There will be both a queen hide-a-bed and a pullout easy chair.
