I just got home from grocery shopping. While at the store, I reached into the cooler to grab a gallon of milk and my eyes popped out of my head at the price. I normally pay $2.68 a gallon at this same store. Today it was $4.43!! YIKES! I just stood there and stared for a minute. How much is milk in your area?

There are two kinds you can get at our store. One is $2.89 and one is $3.69.

If it's what you're saying it is I'll be in a world of trouble. I drink a gallon of milk a week by myself LOL

Watch a news clip last night about it and decided to start drinking more BEER!:p

All dairy procuct's, meat's and gas are very high here! I know do alot of my shopping at BJ's, Wal-mart and watch the sale paper for our local Shop-Rite. The price's are crazy!

I pay 1.98 everyday at Super Walmart - Sometimes it is on sale for $1.49 to $1.79 at Meijer and I'll pick some up there.

The highest I've seen a gallon for around here is $2.68 at Marsh which is known for being higher priced.

I'm in central Indiana

Wow! I was at Super Walmart when I saw the $4.43 milk. I hate to see what it will be at Kroger or Ingle's which are always much more high priced than Walmart.

I buy Hood's Low Carb, both chocolate and 2%, at Sam's, $2.35 a half gallon, so $4.70 a gallon.

Holly crap, I j ust came back from walmart and bought a gallon, I didn't look at the price and now you just made me get the receipt out and look. Yesterday I paid $2.88, today I paid $3.43 for the same one!!! Yikes, I am getting a cow, it's cheaper. We drink a gallon of milk a day!!!!!

BTW, I realized yesterday that in a matter of 10 minutes, gasoline went up .06 a gallon in the same gas station, now we are up to $1.84 a gallon for regular.

Wow, that is alot.

We pay $1.49/gallon for skim, 1%, 2% and a few cents more for whole milk. We go through 7 or 8 gallons of milk a week, so I think I would be gasping, too, if I had to pay $3-$4 or more per gallon! Yikes!

$1.49 a gallon? Man I don't even remember when was the last time I paid that for milk. I don't even remember paying $1.49 when my kids were born , and my oldest is 11.
Thank God dh decided to quit smoking, I am going to need that money for milk now, lol.

Sometimes there is a good sale $1.99 a gallon. But usually we pay around $2.69-2.99 and believe me having 4 kids we go through close to a gallon a day.

YIKES!

I just bought some at BJ's yesterday and it was $2.69 a gallon then.

Not the greatest sale from them because I've definitely seen cheaper but there you go. This week at Meijer. ;)

Odd how prices are so dramatically different across the country!

I was at BJ's last night and paid $2.38 per gallon of whole milk. There was a sign stating that on monday 5/3 that there would be a price increase that was out of their control.

I guess we'll be headed to Meijer tonight to buy some milk! We don't drink that much, even the kids would rather have OJ, but we need it for cereal and DH. Kroger often has a sale that is 6 half gallons for $6, then lately it's been 5 half gallons for $6, but maybe those days are over. I heard this dairy increase was coming, but usually grocery prices don't go up that much at once. Perhaps because it's the first of the month?

I bought 2 gallons of milk at Costco two days ago (they come in packs of two) for $3.09! About $1.55 a gallon for skim. At the grocery store however, not at sale, a gallon is about $3. Our grocery stores often list milk as a loss leader though, and have a gallon on sale for $2. There's some regulation not in place in Oregon like there is in other states- I know in California, there is some agreement/law with the agricultural industry that you cannot dramatically put milk/cheese/eggs on sale; whenever my parents come up here they are floored at how cheap that kind of stuff is here in OR.

Now gas on the other hand...I just about had a heart attack yesterday when I filled up my Subaru for almost $30. $2.07 a gallon for regular unleaded. Ouch!

Here in Texas, the Milk at the local HEB grocery store was up to 3.87 for 1% today. There was a sign that said "As you've been hearing in the major news media, supplies are down so prices are up."

And gas prices jumped 5 cents yesterady too to $1.69 for unleaded regular!

Here in my part of PA. the price of milk went up today. We just paid $3.43 a gallon (whole milk), used to always be under $3.00

Had a piece on the news about government subsidies to dairy farmers going up 40 cents per gallon so they could maintain their living standards. No fooling. This was passed by our officials. Mentioned that we would be seeing $3.40 per gallon soon. Thought they reported that the farmer will now be getting $1.70+ per gallon.
