Military Salute Ticket Question....

I'm clueless...my friend and I are going in October and she qualifies for the Military Salute Tickets. She bought 2 of them from Shades of Green and they arrived via Fed Ex yesterday:banana:. When she ordered, she had to fax copies of her military ID in order to have them shipped (vs having them at will-call) and we can now link them to our MDE accounts.

So tell me what we need to do when we arrive?? I read that the passes need to be "activated" by showing her ID. Where do we do this?? We are staying at AKV and heading to the Studios on our arrival day. Is this done at the ticket window? Guest services? At the resort? I want to make sure that it is taken care of before we go near a turnstile because I have a 13-month UNACTIVATED Gold AP linked in my account already and I do NOT want to use it for this trip. As a DVC Member, I was told that the pass would need to be "activated" by showing my DVC Member card so I assume that there is no way that it would accidentally get activated.

Thanks!

1. Any Guest Relations outside any theme park, water park or at Disney Springs.
2. Going "near a turnstile" won't activate anything.
3. Correct.
BTW, even if you DO have another activated ticket in your MDE account, when you are at
Guest Relations, have the CM set the ticket that you DON'T want to use to
the LOWEST PRIORITY in your MDE. It won't be used until any other tickets are all used up.

Just curious why she ordered them from SoG and then paid shipping when she could have gotten them from ITT on base with no shipping needed?

You'll still want to go by guest relations to be sure your tickets are prioritized, but for future use or others here asking the same thing, tickets bought at SoG are already activated and you don't have to do anything else.

I'm not the OP, but we're ordering ours because they will already be activated and because we are retired and don't live near enough to a base to make the trip cheaper than the $10 mailing cost.

I can also say in general terms that not all bases have the desired tickets
and the cost of the tickets at some bases can be higher than at other bases or from Shades.

I wondered about this because it looks like they sent us the actual tickets, not vouchers.

We don't have a base anywhere near us (western MI) so it was either order them or pick them up when we get there, which would mean no FP+ reservations.

From what i understand the shades of green shipped salute tickets come already activated. My salute tickets, which do need to be activated, say "voucher". I assume yours don't?

As for the AP, go to guest services before entering the park to make sure the tickets are listed in the correct priority.

Tickets bought directly from SOG don't need to be activated. We took DS and DDL with us using the tickets they got at SOG and went strait through the turnstiles with no issues

johnsgrl is correct - tickets purchased from SOG do NOT have to be activated - they arrive this way. SOG tickets are the only military tickets that arrive activated.

Tickets from base ITT offices are not activated and require a stop at guest services.

I purchased regular MYW tickets from SOG in January and again just this month with the 4 day military Salute tickets. I paid the $10 SOG fee to have them shipped to my office via FedEx. I can register them with MDE account right now. We have very limited time on our next trip - just 2.5 days, and I don't want to stand in more lines than necessary. Having tickets on hand and entered into MDE allows me to make my fast pass reservations (staying at AKL) at 60 days as well.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say about buying MYW tickets, but they are ALWAYS ready to use without activation, and can be put into your MDE account, and if you have a Magic Band, they never have to be picked up, or delivered.

MYW tickets purchased on base need to be ordered (in person) about a month in advance, and then you pick them up on base when they arrive. Once you pick them up, you can then put them into MDE for making FP, and use with Magic Bands for entrance.

So, for on site stays, you should order MYW tickets on base at least 4 months in advance (3 months for off site) to make sure you get them in time for the FP window.

Tickets bought through SOG the way OP did are already activated! You DO NOT need to go to guest services.

OP, make sure your friend takes screen shots of back of cards. That way if something happens (accidentally lose) it is easy for guest relations to pull up the info with ticket number.

Just like others said, not everyone has a ITT nearby. I'd much rather do it through SOG and pay $10 than drive 2.5 hours roundtrip to the nearest base. Fed Ex fee cheaper than the gas and saves a lot of time.

Not all ITT offices stock WDW tickets. We are stationed at Camp Pendleton, in CA. They have to order WDW tickets. We also live 45 minutes from base, so I'd rather just pay the $10 FedEx fee to have them delivered. The ITT does the same as SoG... FedEx for $10. However, I prefer SoG because they send already activated tickets vs vouchers that the bases sell.

We always order them from SOG and pay the $10 shipping because:
- our ITT office is one person and if you go in there and they are helping an old geezer getting their bus tickets for various adventures to Amish Country you can be in there FOREVER
- they do not stock them, they have to be ordered, requiring TWO trips to said office
- what you receive are vouchers, not actual tickets and require stopping at guest services which is the absolute last thing I want to do on my first day in the park. The activated tickets from SOG are FAR more convenient.

Time is $$.

Our ITT lets us order them over the phone, then we only have to pick-up. But that when I was active duty before I retired. I looked at ITT website and they also offer shipping. My husband is retired but works at the base near ITT so he just goes there for all his tickets since we attend a lot of sporting events and concerts with discounts through ITT. I recall getting actual tickets not vouchers, but if I stopped at the gate to activate them, I don't recall it being a pain.

I guess we are the "old geezers" you are referring to. I retired in 2015 and my husband retired in 2005. But we can still probably run circles around people who call us "old geezers." LOL. Darn my birthday is in a couple weeks... should I do black over the hill balloons? I will be 43! My husband has no problem doing his hour-long, daily lunchtime crossfit class with the young active duty folks, then popping into ITT to get tickets. I guess our ITT ladies (usually 2 on shift) work a bit faster.

You have no idea how old I am, but I don't think anyone would classify early forties as an old geezer past their teenage years. And I was referring to the mostly senior citizen demographic (70+) of our base office.

I don't need to know your age to know how to respect our elderly Veterans and their spouses. :)
Have a wonderful time at Disney, hopefully you won't encounter too many "old geezers" on your trip.
