It is my understanding, that as long as you have a VALID Military ID, it applies. The newer one w/ a smart chip that only lists service (A/N/M/AF/CG). So they won't know if you are IRR. I wish you lots of luck! If you wouldn't mind, post the result? I have some friends that are curious about that too. I mean technically you are still reserve.
It stands for Individual Ready Reserve. Some Army contracts for Reservists last for 6 years of Drill (1 weekend a month/2 weeks a year) & 2 years of IRR. This basically means sitting at home living your life until the military decides to jerk you back into service b/c they need warm bodies. Personally, I just decided to re-up. That way I got the bonus, & they technically cut 2 years off my contract. (Was supposed to be 8+6, but I re-upped @ 6. So only 12 years.)
