Military Insurance for Renting Points

Has anyone had experience with travel insurance that would cover a military members' leave being revoked for use with DVC points rental? I know DVC rentals are very strict, but we are traveling with a large group and would love to rent a 2 bedroom villa somewhere. I am just worried because my husband is in the military, and we have had to cancel trips before due to his leave being revoked.

The insurance stories have been less than inspiring. I would just get two rooms at Caribbean Beach. Cheaper and can cancel no problem. Disney's current cancellation policy is what you need.

But the hotel is only part of it. The cancellation policy on the tickets matters also, and it is changing all the time.

Disney might not be the right thing to book if you aren't sure you will be going.

Military family here as well! Were you booking points through a big company or private owner? The first time we rented points we went through a company and I was nervous if we'd need to cancel, same as you. We went and had a great time! For the next two point rentals, I found a very kind owner who will re-book within her point deadlines if needed. That gives me more peace of mind. Disney does have a generous cancelation policy right now as the PP mentioned, if you decide to book direct instead. We love Shades of Green as well, and they usually keep your one night deposit if you cancel less than 30 days out but will make exceptions if you have documentation.

To be honest, I would not rent if there is a chance you can cancel unless you have a 100% guarantee you won’t lose out via insurance or a private rental with an owner who is willing to refund you

Rentals carry risk and this is one of them. IMO, is go with Disney to ensure all that money is not lost.

I agree that booking direct through Disney will fit best for your situation as far as cancelling goes right now. I am also an owner and would do the same as BarlowFamily, but rescheduling may not always be possible given the unique restrictions that may apply to the rented points.
