Has anyone done the Armed Forces salute. The 5 day hopper passes that you buy for $99. Are these 5 day hopper plus passes that include the water parks or just 5 day hoppers?

From the Disney site:

This Ticket is valid for admission by the active member of the military to the following Walt Disney World® Parks and Places for five days (on or before December 19, 2003), with the freedom to visit multiple Parks and Places on the same day:
Magic Kingdom® Park
Epcot®
Disney MGM Studios
Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
DisneyQuest® Indoor Interactive Theme Park
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island
Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex
(Valid only on event days. Some events require an additional admission charge. )

The same tickets are also available for purchase by the military member for up to five members of the soldier's immediate family.

Just an FYI - the five $99 tickets don't have to be for immediate family, they can be for anyone.

Sorry, AirForceRocks is correct. The disney $99 tickets can be purchased for friends or family.

I was thinking of the Sea World special where the free tickets are supposed to be for immediate family only.

No problem whatsoever, I just didn't want anyone to have a panic attack if they thought they couldn't get the tickets! ;)

Here's a question.....someone mentioned that they take the names and info of the people the military members purchase these tickets for?! Is there a reason for this if they're for anyone?

Also...if say for example I wanted to go 8 days or so with my husband (active duty military). Could we get his free ticket plus buy 3 (2 for me and 1 more for him) to cover the 8 days? Or is it one per person???

actually I think the wording on the site is rather ambiguous.

"These Tickets expire and may not be used after December 19, 2003.
These Tickets are available for purchase ONLY at Walt Disney World® Theme Park Ticket Windows.
These Tickets may be purchased only by the active U.S. Military member or spouse (not both).
Maximum of one of ticket may be purchased for any family member of friend.
Tickets may be used only by the persons for whom they are purchased. Valid ID may be required for admission.
Each day this Ticket is used at any of the Parks or Places listed above constitutes one full day of use.
This offer may not be combined with any other offer."

It doesn't say maximum of one ticket may be purchased for active duty military or spouse. Or is that suppose to be under family?

The site says that the military member is eligible for 1 complimentary ticket. And I thought the site was pretty clear when it said "Maximum of one ticket can be purchased..."

But rather than asking us since you will get MANY :teeth: opinions here, I would call the information number listed on the site and ask your question.

Good luck.

My guess would be that "family" is supposed to include the military member and spouse as well.

Yeah but the only problem is........we know how calling WDW works. You call once get one answer, call twice get a second answer and so on. :)

Ok calling.....will let you know.

OK according to the CM, whose name I won't mention in case she gave me incorrect info :), YES we could do that. I don't see why they wouldn't allow you to do it as long as you weren't purchasing more than your allotted 5 tickets but....if they don't I'd deal with that too. Of course I guess you never actually know until you purchase the tickets......

This is the reason for my post instead of calling and getting a CM that doesn't the info.

Has anyone gone on this plan and could tell me what type of 5 day hopper was issued to you and your family. Was it a hopper of hopper plus. I know what the website info says but I want to hear it from someone who went and knows what was actually issued.

Park Hopper Plus - it included all the water parks, Pleasure Island and Disneyquest. Both my son and nephew used it at DQ while the rest of us never found the time.

The reason for the name and birthdate is two fold - one they put it in the computer under the sponsor's social so they can only buy up to 5 tickets. The second reason, they print the tickets with the name and birthdate of the person it is intended for on the ticket so they can check it against an ID if required. So, based on that and what they told my SIL when she purchased her tickets I don't think you will be able to buy an extra ticket for yourself and one for your DH. I got the impression it is one ticket per person but ya just never know, you could get a CM who is really nice and wants to help or one who just doesn't care about the rules and lets you give your name twice and your DHs name twice.

In the meantime, if they say no, you could always spend the other three days at Universal who is also running a Military salute ;) That's what we did.

Thanks Torilammy!
We actually are most likely going to split the trip at WDW and USF/IOA. I just don't know that only 5 days at WDW is enough :) It's been too long since we were there last! LOL (And hubby likes to be an ULTRA laid back tourist) ;)

So we'll see! I don't mind doing it however they want us to, I'm not trying to work the system or do something "unethical".... I just wish it wasn't hard to get a straight answer from them sometimes ;)

I hear you Nikole! One of the big debates on this issue has been whether or not a normal Reservist/Guardsman has been eligible. I am in the Air National Guard, and based on the wording on the site, I do not think I am eligible for a complimentary ticket. DH is active duty, so it is not really an issue for us, but it will save $99 plus tax if I am eligible. Based on a conversation I had with a CM, I am eligible because I did some (not even my full 2 weeks) of active duty during the eligibility period.

Just for the record, I annotated in my personal notes (like you, I did not publicly announce the CM) that CM so-and-so on such-and-such date indicated that I was eligible. I detailed all of the specifics (who I talked to, on what date, at what time) so in case the info was wrong, I had all the details in the hopes that WDW will honor what I was told. I would recommend that you do the same.

As you can see by my countdown, I will be at WDW in 30ish days. If I have any problems (or hopefully successes), I will post on this site.

Enjoy your trip!

Just wondering if there are any National Guard out there that have used the salute passes and have returned from their trip. I've called several times to WDW and as many have said here, have also gotten different answers. My delima is that we have 8:50 am PS at Cindy's and don't want to cut it close at the ticket center to purchase my tickets. Any help from NG folks that are not AGR would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:D

I just saw a post with a photo "Magic Kingdom Veteran of the Day".
How do you sign up for that honor???

Tink-

We got our tickets the day we arrived which was not a day we intended to use them. DH is AGR, but I am traditional guard. Just make sure you take a copy of orders that were valid during the window of eligibility, whether AT or activiation orders. We had no problems at all. If you plan on buying your tickets the morning of, be earlt since there may be a line.
