Miley Cyrus... why?

I don't think she will . I think it's easy for most people to jump on her, but none of us where there -- none of us know exactly what was said/done or whatnot.. so, i think we need to remember, she is a teen, and that she deserves some credit for acknowledging what she did wasn't the best idea, and let her move on -- no need to drag this issue thru the mud and back again. :sad2:
I still believe that she is a good kid, with her head on straight, and strong in her faith.

::yes:: ::yes::

it was ok that it was Miley, because Miley was a good kid (from all that I had seen until now). But now, I'd have to rethink it.

Come on.. are we really going to say she is not a good kid anymore from ONE incident??? I would hate to be the one to judge like that! That's just not fair.

I do believe this is being blown out of proportion - and I also believe the Cyrus camp knows exactly what they are doing...

Yep, somebody just hit the nail on the head... These things are NEVER by accident... Don't believe that, or the pre-scripted 'apologies' for one moment.

It is ALL about the 'exposure'... (and, yes the pun is intended)

The thing is that when it comes to these teen-child stars... there are case after case after case after case, where the agents and parents have been sidelined by the fame and the $$$$$$$$$, and they simply have not done what is in the minor's best interest. (this seems to be a big factor in Britney's case). :sad2:

It is only the minority who make it thru, successful and unschathed.

How many "where are they now"... pieces have we seen on the television mags.... To many to count.

I think you are missing the "growing up" part. Everyone makes mistakes...period. Hers just happen to be in view of the public. It was a mistake, she is a good kid, and I just think the uproar over it all is ridiculous. In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter?

There goes another one! No role models for our girls. I was so happy about the whole Hannah Montana thing becasue I was thrilled there was wholsome thing my daughter could enjoy and it was cool and I didn't have to worry about it. Now this girl and her family have just sold her down the river and I have to try to guide my daughter down the straight and narrow without any girls in the entertainment industry to point to.
?

Are you kidding?! It must be nice for those who are being so quick to judge.. wow.. :sad2:

IMO it doesn't matter what Miley Cyrus' pedigree or job is. She culd be Joe Blow's kid who works at the Pizza Hut for all I care. I don't care if you mix in a celeb photographer, fuzzy lighting, and a snooty magazine.

The bottom line remains the same... In no way shape or form is it ever OK for a topless 15 year old to be in alluring pictures. Sure she is a kid and has some grwoing up to do, but she is and should be surrounded by parents and others who can help her make responsible decisions, like not appearing in kiddie porn. It makes me want to vomit when I see how our culture rushes to normalize sex with children. :sad2: Absolutely, totally, inexcusably disgusting.

I agree.... At this point it is not about Miley, who is still, in many ways, just a kid... It is about those who are guiding and taking advantage of her.

THANK YOU. :thumbsup2 Well said. :)

like not appearing in kiddie porn.

Whoa, back up the bus there Captain Overstatement!

I saw the pic of her and that is the last thing it is. You can argue all you want if she should or should not portray that image and I will leave that dead horse to the rest of you to beat up..

But, to call it kiddie porn? You have got to be kidding

Read my earlier post... This has NOTHING to do with 'growing up'.
Miley's role as a child-family star is not in her past... it is TODAY.

And, this was not 'Miley's mistake'... this is premeditated and controlled and approved by the adults around her.

This isn't a teenager in the back-seat with their boyfriend... This is a professionally arranged and orchestrated event. HUGE difference. In the former - teenager making a mistake.. In the latter.. a much more important issue.

This is completely inappropriate and should be condmned.

Her parents, agent, photographer, publisher are all bordering what could constitute child pornography!

I am not happy about the statement this says for my soon-to-be teenage daughter! Shame on all of you!

So pictures of topless 15 year olds wrapped in satin sheets while flashing alluring eyes is OK? :confused3

edited: Mayl, I know we may have strong feelings about this, but I edited out my flippant personal response to your attack on me.

Well clearly the photo of her laying across her dad's lap baring her mid-riff is suggestive and looks like incest. We need that photo banned too.

{sarcasm off}

No, clearly this does not meet the criteria for kiddie porn!!!
Of course not....

However, that does not make it appropriate.

'Illegal' and 'Inappropriate' are two different words.
Believe me, Vanity Fair magaize knows this very very well!!!!

While I do not feel it is appropriate in any way for a child-family star to appear in such a spread... I will not weaken my case by making the jump from inappropriate to the exaggeration of 'porn'.

Just because it isn't porn doesn't make it right, or good, or appropriate.

I can't believe that so many people are trashing Miley over this -- when SHE is the child -- and the one taking the artistic photo was the ADULT -- if ANYONE should be held responsible, for the nature of the photo - it is the adult behind the camera.

I think calling it kiddie "you know what" is just absolutely crazy.. To me the pic looks "grown up" - but in no way is she exposed - yes,i think her makeup should be toned down, but again, that was up to the photographer ,not miley!
She was looking up to this person to take a good quality pic of her..

What I don't understand is why wasn't there this kind of outrage over that daughter-dancing-suggestively-with-father show. :confused3 There's no way the parent didn't know what was going on when that video was taken.

It's a shame, because i adore her, but like everyone else Nudity, Has to play a part in their lives, she cannot undo what she has done, no matter if it was in good taste, What would you do if your 15 yr. old appeared like that on front of a cover?
Dang she makes enough money w/out having to shoot nude scenes. So Miley hang in there, w/ your clothes on!!!!!!

Teen idols have a limited shelf life, and any media star who's as omnipresent as Miley Cyrus risks overexposure (no pun intended). I think this is probably an attempt by Team Cyrus to use a respected photographer like Annie Leibovitz to broaden her appeal outside the teen set and help her eventually transition out of the Disney Channel era of her career.

IMHO the apology is window dressing and may even have been required by Disney.

Kiddie porn? Not remotely close--it does a disservice to that horrible crime and its victims to call the pics that.

You can not like the photo, you can say she shouldn't have done it, you can say that her parents shouldn't have allowed the picture. All of the above statements can be easily defended.

But the Picture is not Kiddie porn. They show way more in bathing suit adds of minors, or a host of other places.

Yes she blew it, but come on the picture is in no way kiddie porn. And you know how that is easily identified is the fact that a major publication is printing it. If it was kiddie porn, or even close to it do you think they would risk their business to print it?
