Mikkel (PixyDusted's) & Jason's PJ - DCL 9/26/2009 - HAIR ACCESSORIES

Is it sad I'm looking forward to going home tonight to clean and write about new wedding stuff I haven't posted? It's so rare to have a night to myself that when it does occur, I REALLY look forward to it! I have so much to post from months ago that I lost motivation to write about b/c of our postponement but the mojo is BACK!

Things to post:
- Markerboards for everyone that I made for their cabin doors
- Necklaces I made for bridal party, mother, FMIL, FSIL
- Night before invitations to be handed out on ship
- Luggage Tags I started to make and need to finish

Also to post:
- Mickey pomander on my PJ and tutorial on blog
- New floral idea (makign the pomander really helped me nail down the colors I want)
- Update on wedding planner
- New Invitations for a select few guests

Mikkel, can't wait to see the new stuff!!!

Thanks for the website info. I know my sister will probably use that instead of doing the formal way. It's saves on money. Plus all that paper too. Can't wait to see more info.

Okay kids....here it is! AN UPDATE! YAY!!

So I made a Mickey Pomander that I LOVE!! Thank you Carly for kick-starting the process.

Shopping for flowers at Michael's REALLY helped me visualize the flower colors I want. I am SO indecisive about this sort of thing (I have a REALLY hard time choosing a flavor at Baskin Robbins! 31 flavors and then some and I like most of them! Oy vey.) so being able to put color combinations together in my hands was fantastic!

Though I LOVE green I decided it probably won't be making an appearance in our floral bouquets. The yellow of the bridesmaids dresses is a hard color to work with (it's almost a lemon-lime color - depends what kind of light you're viewing the fabric under) and the green doesn't look too fabulous with it. Purples look great though!

Here's a photo of some of the colors I put together that I now believe is the direction to go with for our bouquets/flowers:

And since I have a swatch of the dress fabric I threw the card in the middle of the flowers to see how it would look:

Then I added the ribbon I bought for the bouquets for an "icing on the cake" photo!

LOVE IT!! I won't be using hydrangeas because, although I do love them, I'm worried that they'll be wilting by day 3 of the cruise when our wedding is. I was previously opposed to tulips being in the bouquet but I think that some purple tulips provide a nice color contract that's hard to find in other affordable flowers so I think I'm going to request those be in there too! I know the bouquet won't look like these flowers exactly, and I don't necessarily want them too, but it was certainly a positive, energizing step in the right direction.

So next step...MICKEY POMANDER!

I'm going to cut to the chase here and post a photo of the end result.

If you want a tutorial (for free, might I add) of how I created this just go to my blog!

I spent a few hours creating a pdf tutorial last night so you could all benefit from it! Even if you think you can make it from looking at the photos, please ask for my tutorial anyway. I thought I could make it from photos, and I did...as you could too...but why not learn some extra tips and tricks and learn from my mistakes by giving the tutorial a read?

Thanks!! I'll send it to you in a few...

Mikkel, that is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I would love to make one of those!!! Thanks so much for sharing!

Wow, that looks amazing!!! I don't know if I'd have the patience to do that. :thumbsup2

I bet you'd find it therapeutic! If you don't have a 4-day time period or so that you have in your head to get it done, you can just do it when you have free time or need a break from chores and daily life and such. It's well worth the effort!

Mikkel - The pomander is absolutely GORGEOUS! The colors look so beautiful together!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the compliments!

Anyone know where I can look for hot shoes? I want an odd color like Cyan (blue) or Lavendar. I looked everywhere online I can think of...
- Nordstrom
- Piperlime
- JCrew
- Target
- Macys
- Neiman Marcus (TOO expensive!)
- Zappos
- Kate Spade

Ugh, I can't think anymore. I've literally spent all night looking. I found an awesome pair of blue ones...of course Manolo Blahnik! So they were too much $. Then I found a hot purple pair...and they were some designer shoes that cost $250 (and that was at 50% off!).

I swear I don't have expensive taste. It's just not easy to find nice, unique but not too outlandish, satin shoes in the colors I'm considering! Grr...

I just have to say I love the Mickey Pomander, in fact I love everything you create. You truly have a gift!

You should check Endless.com. You can search shoes by color, size, and style.

I've been lurking on your page for a few days because I'm interested in doing a DCL. I'm not even engaged yet, but a girl can dream hehe! :rotfl: My sister (monana) had the first Disney wedding in my family, and she keeps raving about how relaxed she was throughout the process, and it was the most amazing wedding I've been apart of. Good Luck in your search! Let me know if you need any help

I'm having the same problem with finding green shoes, and it doesn't help that I am a size 5 1/2. I think I am going to hit the outlets and see if I have better luck there. I never know if a 6 or a 5 will fir me better :confused3

Thank you! I think I'm pretty crafty too. ;) :rotfl:

Have you tried a "froogle" search? Or maybe overstock.com (they sometimes have random stuff) or www.6pm.com

Are you looking for heels or flats?

Heels for sure! My beach wedding sandels are flats so I want to feel taller and sexier when we get back on the ship! I'll try froogle and overstock. Thanks for the suggestions!

YAY FOR DCL! It's okay that you're not engaged yet - just make sure you don't get too dreamy-eyed over a wedding when it's really about you and your fiance (or boyfriend!). I just get nervous sometimes when girls start planning a wedding before they are engaged - I just care too much about others! Just make sure he's "the one" before you start picking out venues. Don't let the desire to have a wedding overshadow the significane of a marriage. (Sorry if that's coming out wrong - it comes from a place of love.)

That being said, we looked into our options prior to getting engaged. I said why look if we're not engaged, Jason said why get engaged if we can't afford a wedding right now. :upsidedow

If you have questions though feel free to ask. I LOVE the path we've chosen for our wedding. It's a unique setting that's significant to us for a few reasons (we met while working at Disney, we've been on Disney cruises together, he proposed on the Magic, etc.) and it's AFFORDABLE! :rotfl:

I'm a 6....but I can understand why 5.5 is even harder to find! I may hit the outlets too during lunch next week since I'm at Universal and the Prime ones (is that the ones? The ones they just redid by Mall at Millenia) are right here. I'll let you know if I see anything good and I'll keep my eye out for green ones if you promise to keep your eye out for purple or blue ones!

Yeah those are the Prime Outlets. hmm I may head over tomorrow after work, they aren't too far from my office either. Although I was skimming through Overstock.com and they had some pretty cool options. It would still be nice to try them on since I have pairs that range from 5 - 6 so I never know if a shoe will fit. I'd hate to buy online and then have to ship it back if it doesn't fit.

If you go to the Prime outlets make sure you check out the Victoria's Secret outlet! When I was there 2 weeks ago they had several different styles of bride tank tops, team bride tanktops for the bridal party, and "sexy little bride" hoodies all for $7.99-$9.99 and really cute syles of bride underwear as well in the $3.99 bins that had $14.99-$20 tags on them. You have to pick through everything but it is worth it. Lots of things that would make nice bridesmaids gifts too.
I was actually looking for shoes to wear to a wedding (not mine) and didn't find anything so hopefully you have better luck than I did. The Neiman Marcus outlet was having a really good sale but I couldn't find anything I liked in my size. I hear ya on trying to find comfortable, decent shoes in a 5 1/2-6...if you find a store around here that has a good selection let me know!
