1) Which side of the aisle was it that called for the creation of a DHS, with all of the various related governmental agencies reporting into it (i.e. the genesis of FEMA supposedly getting lost in the shuffle)?
2) Who initially resisted the move?
Prove my point. Put a good idea in the hands of someone who doesn't believe in government and you get.......drumroll, please.........bad government. You just don't get it. This is the perfect example of bad government.
It started out with a president who believes government is the problem and failed to take the postion of head of FEMA seriously. Would someone who believed in the institution of government have been so cavalier over qualifications? Who expected Bush to appoint an Arabian horse lawyer to head FEMA? That's bad government.
This entire incident is the walking-talking poster child for bad government. It could've worked. It wasn't a priority for the Bush administration to make it work because........drumroll, please........government is bad and government cannot help solve problems. So anyone could've done the job and an incompetent was appointed. And it's been downhill from there ever since.
As usual, you're missing the point. It isn't the institution of government that is bad, it's the individuals running it.
