Mike Brady: Architect

Ever notice the house looked a whole lot bigger on the inside than the outside?
I know it was a lot smaller, but I always wanted to live in Samantha and Darren's house on Bewitched.

What they had was typical of the times. One bath off the parent's room and one for the kid's bedrooms. What was unusual was having a maid's quarters off the kitchen. If he had build a split level house, that would have been even more typical.

What bothered me the most was the street photo was the opposite of the actual floor plan. It had the upper rooms on the left as you faced it...when the rooms upstairs were all to the right of the entrance.

Not at all unusual in TV land. I don't know if I've EVER seen an interior set that could possibly match the outside view. Not sure if it's laziness or carelessness on the part of the producers, or some kind on intentional inside joke.

I think the real problem was that there was no toilet in the kids' bathroom. Did they use those double sinks instead?

Oh my gosh, I loved Darren and Samantha's house. And it was always picture perfect (of course, since it was a TV house )

Greg's attic bedroom was bigger than my whole HOUSE!

Apparently when Mike designed the house, he included heat/air conditioning for the attic...don't we all do that?

I love the Brady Bunch Movie where every building Mike designed looked just like their house...

Remember when Mike had to go to Hawaii to check on the project there...and Mr Phillips said that he could take his wife, 6 kids AND housekeeper!!! That's airfare, rental car, hotel, food, WOW...what a boss. I'm guessing Mr Phillips just passed the cost onto his customer.

But I wanted to say that! :guilty:

You have to admit, for a stupid comedy, that movie is great! "A wise man once said, wherever you go, there you are"

And my second favorite" Moesha, Moesha, Moesha!!!

I always thought the toilet was out of view under the camera that was doing the shooting.

The network censors wouldn't allow a toilet to be shown.

And whatever happened to poor Fluffy? Never got to move into the new house. Poor cat... :rotfl:

When my parents bought a motel in '75, we had a huge Brady Bunch staircase in the lobby. I loved that about the motel!

Speaking of houses and shows...I always wondered why the house they showed on All in the Family had no front porch but often it shows a front porch when Archie goes outside or they answer the front door. It looks much like a bungalow porch but when they show the house head on going off, no porch.

There was a sitcom a few years back in which one of the characters became hooked on watching BB reruns...he had a dream he was part of the Brady family...

almost all of the original Brady family appeared...all grown up...by dressed like they did back then...

I recall one scene where they all came down the stairs like they used to...Mrs Brady always had a huge cup of coffee in her hand...and the boys were in the garage/carport thing working on a bike turned upside down. Someone asked if they wanted to go bike riding...their reply, "we don't ride the bikes, we just fix them..."

I'll see if I can find a clip. bingo!

will be interesting to see if I remembered this episode correctly...

In the 1980's TV series "Day by Day," the son had a dream that he was one of the Brady Bunch. The actual Brady Bunch actors participated in the dream sequence, including a pregnant Marsha and the Brady men with their perms. Mike explained the perms kept their hair out of their eyes when they fixed their bikes.

After getting an F on a term paper, Ross' parents are very disappointed in his efforts. They asked what he was doing with his time & he's watching a Brady Bunch marathon. So they ground him from the tv until he can improve his grades.

As he was studying, Ross has a dream about being on The Brady Bunch! He's greeted by Carol & was amazed that he's their long lost son, Chuck Brady! Carol makes him take off the robe & Chuck finds himself wearing 70's clothes.

He also meets Mike who asks him to go get a perm. And Alice who had boxing gloves on. Then he met Peter & Bobby who wanted him to work on his campaign for student council president. Then he met a very pregnant Marcia! Marcia thanks him for backing her up for student council.

Then the boys & girls fight over that. Chuck doesn't want to be student council president. Then Chuck sees his two girls who are Marcia's friends dressed as cheerleaders. Chuck can't stand the rerun of Brady living so he wakes up to find his real parents dressed like Mike & Carol. Then he wakes up from that dream & told his parents he'd never watch The Brady Bunch. After going to his room, the parents turn on the little tv & start singing "The Brady Bunch Theme".

This thread has me :rotfl2:

Never, ever saw a 60's/70's Southern California tract home with an outhouse though......

That was funny! And, the teenage boy in that sitcom is the actor who played Greg in the Brady Bunch movies...and the voice of Eric in the Little Mermaid! (just to keep it DISified, haha) :) I think I have too much time on my hands to know all this tv trivia.

I know it was a lot smaller, but I always wanted to live in Samantha and Darren's house on Bewitched.

Ack! That was a nightmare house. No "locks" to keep all of Samantha's relatives from just "dropping by" all the time. :p Today, in therapy, that would be called relatives who have inappropriate boundaries.

No wonder why Darren was replaced in mid series and no one on the show noticed. :rolleyes1 Samantha's whole family was dysfunctional and went into denial about the Darrens changing. The first Darren (not talking about the real actor,) ended up in rehab somewhere, and they weren't supposed to talk about it. :lmao:

Christopher Daniel Barnes! :goodvibes sadly I knew this too  I remember this show and that episode. How funny!!!

Ever notice how Alice's bf called them Mr. and Mrs. Brady and they called him by his first name. Ah, those were the days weren't they?

Ah, but they just adored Alice.......she was like a member of the family. Sure, she had her meals alone in the kitchen, but they just adored her!

Weren't the Bradys the first couple shown on TV sleeping in the same bed?
