Migraine Sufferers Beware

I'm a migraine sufferer as well but have never had one triggered by a ride. Imitrex does nothing for me, pills or the injection.

I don't know how old you are, but triggers can change with age.

I started getting migraines when I was about 12yo. I had them through high school and they stopped when I was in college and quit eating food with nitrites and nitrates. I didn't have them again until about 4 years ago (I'm 43yo) and now I get them often. I'm sure hormone levels have something to do with it, but I now have lots of triggers. Chocolate, alcohol, jerky movements, hunger, etc. Not fun to deal with!

I only recently started having migraines. Thank god it was a few weeks after we came home from Disney. I have yet to figure out all of my triggers. I know that bright flashes of light is one. I am about to return for our first christmas in disney so I was glad to read this. I have to take a daily medication to control the severity of the migraines and I take the imitrex injection as needed. I have what they call an aura before my migraine starts so I know when to take my injection. I really don't want to be dependent on meds while i'm at Disney but my symptoms are severe. I get paralysis in my right arm and everything.

My DH gets occular migraines (the auras, but no pain) from the bright light. It doesn't hurt, but kind of disorients him.

I used to get the auras when I was younger, but when the headaches started up again it was without the auras.

I'm in my 30's and most of my migraines are triggered by stress, sometimes I really don't know what causes them. I've been getting them since my early teens and get the auras as well. I do know I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy though.

Its funny that you posted this. I was so worried about getting sick on this ride because I get motion sickness on everything. But I didn't, however, I got a really weird kind of headache that lasted all night long. I couldn't concentrate on anything else exept my headache b/c it was so bad.
