Dh and I are going to WDW for 2 weeks, in just 11 more days! Nov 23 - Dec7th.
we have YC concierge booked for the whole trip. we were going to add on a couple of days, but decided it isnt wise! ($$ wise!)

so now we are trying to see if we should perhaps switch the first 4 nights (or 3) to stay at POR or the Dolphin, both of which are available, and both I was able to get fantastic rates (we have a fantastic rate at the YC cocierge too)
I have both POR and the Dolphin on hold!

please vote and then please please explain why... thank you!!!!!

we have to decide by toinight!

Laura :)

I voted for POR because I've stayed there before and it's nice. Also they have the boat to DTD which is great.

The Dolphin would also be a nice choice because you'd be a boat ride away from MGM and Epcot. And also close to the Boardwalk.

I think changing is a good choice. I'm guessing you're probably already spending at least $300 per night for YC concierge, so the savings would be great. :) More money left for shopping!!! :) I have been collecting the Gourmet Mickey kitchen stuff... every time we go down I get a few more pieces... I've almost got the whole set! :)

Whatever you do you'll have a great time! :)

I voted POR. I haven't stayed at the Dolphin so I can't and won't comment on it. I have stayed at POR and enjoyed it very much.

My vote was based on saving $670!! over only 4 nights. That is big time savings. Plus, you are ending your trip with YC concierge so you'll be moving up and ending your trip there. If you were going the other way around, YC then POR or Dolphin, I'd say stay with YC as moving down to end your vacation could be less than desirable.

$670!!

I voted for the Dolphin. We stayed there in November 2001 & the Boardwalk to soooo cool, as well as the Boats to MGM & Epcot! Have a great vacation!

Dolphin and YC are both EPCOT resorts and POR is a moderate. I'd try for a good rate at AKL.

Since you are going to be at an EPCOT resort (YC) later, I'd vote for something different like POR.

As a matter of fact, we've stayed at the Swan and POR and we actually liked POR better.

Since you are staying in the Epcot area at YC, I'd stay at PO-R.

You can do alot with almost $700!:D

thanks so much! keep the replies coming!!! :)
we are going to decide this evening!

I was thinking POR cause I'd love to try a mod and the mansions look beautiful, but I am also thinking the Dolphin cause we LOVE being at the Epcot resorts!

hmmmmmm...

thanks!

Laura :)

All I have to say is what could be better than staying at YC concierge for Thanskgiving. I have stayed at both POR and Dolphin, POR used to be one of my all time favorites. We stayed there a few times and I definately did not like the Dolphin. I really noticed the difference in it not being a "Disney" hotel. Although the location is great, same as YC, I just didn't care for it. If you have already booked the YC conceirge then you probably budgeted for that, right? Once I got to stay in a deluxe I now do not want to go back to a budget and conceige is my next step. We are only able to go on vacation once a year and I prefer to enjoy myself. So some people are able to go to Disney a few times a year and will stay in moderaters or the budgets in able to go as often. I say, if you are able to go once a year do it really good.

Just think how special it would be to stay at YC conceirge for 2 weeks!!! Oh, one can only dream. The Christmas decorations will probably be going up, stormalong bay, conceirge, need I say more? How often will you get sucha good conceirge rate again?

Good Luck!! I can't wait to hear what you decide.

I vote for POR. I have stayed at POFQ, and thought it was a lovely place - POR looks beautiful, too! Since you will be staying at YC concierge for the last 10 days, you will definately get the full experience of the Epcot resort area.

Another plus - I think the boat is again running from POR to Downtown Disney! Imagine the romantic boatride, under a starry sky!

How about the Swan? Is it available? They have renovated some of their room's with Westin's signature Heavenly beds. :)

since you have great rates maybe you would rather stay at the YC if not the Dolphin is next door and in a good location. The Dolphin is a hotel with full service the PO is not. If you stay at the PO ask for a room near a bus stop too much walking. Their grounds are so beauitful don't like the rooms but that is us. What ever your choice you will be glad just to be in Disney so enjoy and good luck. :p :bounce: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

The Verdict is in!!!!!!!!!

we are staying at the Yacht Club the whole 2 weeks :)

we discussed it, and dh said he really wants to stay at the YCconcierge the whole time, it's our favorite and we have been so excited to stay there for 14 nights, we have had it booked for a long time, and are very excited!

thanks for all your help!!!

Laura :)

Well, I for one was hoping you'd go back to the Polynesian and get the complete scoop on the renovations!

Have a great time!

p.s. Did you move out of CT?

Hey Laura !! This is kind of (actually alot) off topic.

But, do you by any chance know what other rooms on the Concierge floor -Lagoon View are smoking rooms besides 5161? That's where we stayed last year and I put in a request for the same room on our reservation for this year. We arrive on 12/3. Needless to say, I'm a smoker and want to make sure I get the proper type room, but with that same wonderful view.

Look forward to seeing you there !!!!

Linda

Golly, Princess! You are such big fans and go so much, have you considered the Disney Vacation Club? Just curious.

joepoe -
hi! actually... we are dvc members! we just bought an add on at BCV too! we use points for half our trips and pay $$ for the rest. but with more points now, we'll be using the dvc more! :)

polypal -
I will be visiting the Polynesian during my vacation, I'll see what I can find out for you! :)
and yes, we sold our house in August, and are living in lower westchester! I love it!

figment -
I am unsure of other smoking rooms, your best bet is to request a smoking room w/direct lake view, but if you have lake view concierge booked, then you should be fine, all of the lake view concierge rooms are direct view,
I have stayed over the courtyard (w/the Donald Duck topiary) and over SAB, both views are spectacular!
I know room 5161 is an awesome view though!

have a great time! and I'll see ya there!!! in the lounge??!! :)
