Might have to cancel our trip

We might have to cancel our anniversary trip, i'm gutted. I have just got out of hospital and we are pregnant with twins! we will only be 24 weeks when we return but i'm worried it may be too much

We have to pay disney uk in 2 weeks so we have that time to decide. Flights are paid for direct with VA so doubt we will get anything back from them but it was our first year on free dining and I havent had time to make any adrs as I have been sick for 6 weeks and in hospital for 1

Any ideas on what you would do??

Congratulations :cool1:

congratulations, and go.But why did you never take out travel insurance that's what its there for the unforeseen things. especially as you have done things independently. But just enjoy yourself and as your on the DDP would make for an easer time as wont be going on rides more time to plan for food

I think there are quite a few people that don't take out insurance until nearer the time of travel. My Mum was one of them as I found out when she passed away 5 years ago.

Congratulations on the twins, do what you feel is right.

Congratulations. I can understand your dilema, as I can't decide what I'd do in your position but I'm sure you'l make the right choice for you. Very best wishes.

I've never had twins, so I know I'm not the best person to hand out advice.

But Jack and I have always said we'll go on one last relaxing holiday mid-first-pregnancy (all being well of course), maybe disney isn't as relaxing, but as plenty of people have said you can enjoy the pool and take it super easy. And I think a scooter is a great back up idea. :)

The DDP would be my only query, as I suffer pretty bad from digestive problems (sometimes similar to what of people get in pregnancy), and I know DDP wouldn't be worth it for me. Did you pay for DDP? Maybe you could swap the DDP money and switch resorts to something with a kitchen, or nicer pool etc. etc. (I don't know where you're staying though! Lol)

we are planning on going back next year and taking the twi 8 month olds!!! my parents will be with us so that will make things easier

I'm just torn.

I was in for extreme morning sickness so i'm sure thats now gone and hopefully wont return

First of all CONGRATULATIONS!!

I had hyperemesis with my both of my pregnancies. The first one I was hospitalised on and off for 5 months. the second one for 3.5 months. With the first one I was sick up until 7 months and the second one 6 months. each time I started to feel better I would think it was over with and then after a couple of weeks it would start again. Hopefully as you say your morning sickness is gone and won't return! :goodvibes

I had hyperemesis right through my pregnancy and was in and out of hospital till I was finally induced. I had to be fed by a tube for over a month, they was also a few times when I went a few weeks without being sick for it return.

They was a lady on the same ward as me who was having twins however she was fine after 14 weeks, most women are fine after 4 months its just a small few who are unlucky.

Wow, you are so lucky to be having twins. Congratulations!:goodvibes

Only you can make the decision of whether to go or not. I've never had twins but I've had 3 children and I always felt much more energetic in the second trimester, but I'm not sure about sitting on a plane for 9 hours! :scared1:

Good luck with your decision.

Congratulations! How wonderful to be having twins! :-)

I went to away last year at 25/26 weeks pregnant with my DD to Gran Canaria. I think the flight was about 4 hours and it was fine actually but for 9 hours I'd say try to upgrade if you possibly can. Also get a seat close to the toilet. You'll be needing to go quite a bit ;) and I had to queue for ages. Not a problem in itself, but it was a bit awkward when people were trying to squeeze down the aisle past me and my bump.

Personally I found pregnancy much harder work than I was expecting. Don't underestimate the heat either, you get hot enough as it is when pregnant. You maybe need to plan to be back in the hotel early afternoon for a rest and to avoid the worst of it. Is there any way you could bring the trip forward a few weeks? I know you'd miss the actual date of the anniversary but it might make it a little easier and more enjoyable for you.

First thing you need to do though is to get travel insurance and be sure it covers everything medically. Heaven forbid, but if something did go wrong while you were there you may need to be hospitalised until the babies are born. Then it's almost certain that premature twins would need some time in the special care unit so your holiday could potentially run into months and million pound hospital bills. That's a worst case kind of scenario but you (and your husband and family) need to be prepared for the possibility at least.

While we were away we had a lovely time, if at a slower pace than normal. Even if you decide against Florida I would still try to get away somewhere closer while you can, just the two of you. Life will never be the same again!

So have you made a decision yet?

i have managed to find a couple of travel insurance companies that will cover me so we are going ahead and then we have insurance if anything happens

I made adrs today and am really looking forward to it. I have made enquiries about hiring a scooter incase i cant cope with the walking so we should be fine

:) Glad you have come to a decision and that you are all covered. :)

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time and what a perfect last holiday as a couple to have, even more so for your first Anniversary!

Do you have a PTR so I can nosey at your plans??

no planning trip report

our plans were to have our magic kingdom reshoot done as the first was terrible but i doubt i will fit in my dress!! we were also going to have misty take more photos of us which we still may do but not sure yet

i got most of my adrs today and thats in another thread (got all my adrs at 2 months out) so I'm all excited now just have to pick between the insurance comapnies and buy that and then pay for it!!

Cant wait

thanks for all your help and we know that we wont be going if nearer the time i cant travel due to medical reasons but its given me hope and something to look forward to and plan which is also helping me from my hospital stay so I'm pleased we are going for a nice relaxing holiday with loads of eating! oh and shopping for babies!!

congratulations

I would check with a doctor what the cut off day is for flying with twins

if not cant you delay the trip a while?

its the airlines that have the cut off for flying and most its 28 weeks and i will be 24 on my return

both the doctors and the nurses when in hospital said it shouldnt be a problem going on holiday and would be good for us
