Might have to cancel our trip

congratulations that is great news !!
i would most probably cancel due to the length of the flight cant be very nice being cooped up in a small seat unless of course you are going first class
but its your choice at the end of the day .....good luck in what ever you choose !

Congratulations :)

If your doctor says it's ok and you feel up to it you should go for it. I went to Florida at 5 1/2 months pregnant back in 2007 and had a blast. I had been sooo tires before travelling etc but when I got there felt fab. Just think of all the baby shopping to.

I had a holiday booked with VH and a cruise with Disney, I could not do the cruise as I was over the cut of date they accept pregnant women and VH were fab about changing holiday plans for me.

Obviously you and your babies health comes first, I hope you get sorted.

First of all congratulations! Such lovely news!

Now i just want to say that people deal with things differently and what some people can cope with other can not. I will give you my opinion based on my experience :thumbsup2

I flew when i was pregnant in august 07, i was around 18 weeks. We had bulkhead seats, i sat on the aisle which helped and i frequently walked up and down the cabin to stretch my legs! It was not the most comfortable 9 hours of my life but i made it! The only frustrating part was when the baby was bouncing on my bladder and the seat belt lights were on, i was not allowed to get up to use the toilet :sad2: i honesty thought i was going to burst :rotfl:

The only thing i would consider is how hot it is in august, i really struggled and i was only carrying one baby. We would do a park in the morning then relax by the pool after lunch. I constantly worried when we were out there, was the baby moving, is the baby ok ... I had previous miscarriages and had been bleeding (nothing related to holiday!) so understandably i was more nervous than most.

Overall the holiday went well and i delivered a safe baby boy :goodvibes What is meant to be is meant to be. Is it a risk? Yes but is it unsafe? No. Doctor let me fly when i was bleeding didn't see it as a risk and i was fine. Airlines would not let pregnant women fly if they found it unsafe. Just weigh up the pros and cons.

Dont make any decisions just yet, you are in the early days, who knows how your body will cope with the change. Take care and enjoy the pregnancy and hpe i have not put you off in any way :)

Congratulations what wonderful news :)

Personnally I would not take the trip - especially as you have already had some challenges in your pregnancy.

Closest I can compare it to is I had bad 'morning (noon and night!)' sickness with DD and we had a trip to DLP planned. Even though the I felt more human by then, and took it as easy as possible I still ended up overtiring myself which brought the sickness back on again.

There will be other anniversaries to celebrate and it is impossible to know how you'll feel as the pregnacy progresses.

Clearly this is only my opinion :)

congratulations- that is lovely news.

Personally I wouldn't risk being that far away from home at 24weeks pregnant with twins.

Congratulations :yay:! That is brilliant news! Lol my mum is desperate for me to get married and have babies and she always says that I need to have twins first so she can get to go to Disney with them while she is young enough to enjoy it! I think it has to be entirely your decision. You don't have to make the decision today and everyone copes with pregnancy differently and also the different stages. I would say (to anyone not just you) to make sure you are insured properly healthwise. It would be nice to take it easy and enjoy your last holiday as a couple rather than a family but you will know when the time is right if you are up for it. Twins are different but my mum coped ok with my sisters and she had my brother about ten months before they were born so she had three babies! Also, as I said she keeps saying how she would love me to have twins so her pregnancy can't have been that bad :). But she does say don't have a baby later in life as her pregnancy and labour with me (the youngest of 5, 20 years between me and my big bro) was not fun !
Good luck, whatever you decide!

Congratulations on your wonderful news. This is a decision only you can make in the end.
I had trouble with my pregnancies and was in hospital for a week with my first one,if i could afford to have gone away at that time i would have.

You will be excused by myself if you go and need to hire a wheelchair for your comfort.
It may be a long time before you are able to go away with your husband again on your own, but your health and your babies come first.

Remember its your decision in the end.

We might have to cancel our anniversary trip, i'm gutted. I have just got out of hospital and we are pregnant with twins! we will only be 24 weeks when we return but i'm worried it may be too much

We have to pay disney uk in 2 weeks so we have that time to decide. Flights are paid for direct with VA so doubt we will get anything back from them but it was our first year on free dining and I havent had time to make any adrs as I have been sick for 6 weeks and in hospital for 1

Any ideas on what you would do??

Firstly - huge congratulations, wonderful news :goodvibes

I really wish I was one of those people who would still go if in your position but the truth is I wouldn't go. Travelling abroad whilst pregnant is not for me but I do have a tendancy to turn into a miserable old moo whilst with child :rotfl2:. Lord only knows why DH wants to try for a third :lmao:

We were hoping to return to WDW next Easter but after many discussions we are thinking that we may try for #3 after our Spanish holiday this August which would mean postponing our next trip to WDW.......

If I were in your position, I would prefer to postpone the holiday and go once the babies are born, don't know why but I much prefer travelling with a young baby and would not ever plan to travel whilst PG :confused3

Wishing you :goodvibes with your decision.....

Ali :goodvibes

Congratualtions to you both, I take it you were abit shocked then by the news it was twins?
At the end of the day you will do what is right for you. Yes it is your anniversary and you will be gutted that you can't return to Disney if you decide not to go but there will be other trips to go on and other ways to celebrate in the meantime.
If you do go just make sure you walk around regularly on the plane, drink plenty and take plenty of naps. Thankfully in your second semester you get a second wind but who knows how you will feel with the heat so just take it easy.
Me personnally I would go but only if I was carrying 1 baby and hadn't already had a stay in hospital. Yours and their health is more important.

talk about senility - i just remembered that i traveled around the world when i was pregnant with my first child - but she was only one, not twins..
and i had medical coverage....

we traveled for 3 months (a business trip)....from my 5th month of pregnancy through my 8th month...around the world including japan, taiwan, hongkong, the US, europe...

but i had medical coverage....for me, that's the big issue...not as much the pregnancy as the insurance....

Hi there!

Firstly, many congratulations!
Secondly, I'm a twin mum myself, so I would recommend you find your local twin club, and give them a ring. Twins and multiples are a completely different kettle of fish, and there are some things that only a twin mum will get!:)
Thirdly, should you go to Disney or not? Well, fom my experience, I would say no. (sorry!) In the first place you would need insurance, which as soon as you mention 'twins' becomes mega bucks. Then there's your health:-
1) Sickness. You say you are over it, which is great it that's true, but mine lasted 8+ months, and also suffered with chronic heartburn:sad2: Yuk!
2) Comfort. Mums expecting twins usually expand, quickly. You can expect to gain an average extra 3 stone, maybe more. Put that together with a 9 hr flight, uncomfortable seating, constant visits to the loo, babies kicking,, swollen ankles, increased risk of DVT, get the picture?
3) Weather. Carrying twins is tiring. So you've done the flight, and feel shattered. Then you have to deal with the weather. I haven't been in Aug (1st time this year!), but I'm expecting it to be HOT!! I was pregnant through a particularly hot May/June, and believe me it's no fun, feeling hot and bothered and carrying so much extra weight; plus you have to take into account the risk of increased blood pressure etc
4) DDP. Do you really want your first experience of the DDP to be hampered by a twin pregnancy? Strange cravings, not being able to eat and drink all you want.
I know I sound like a real party pooper, but if you feel ill while you are there, it will be ten times worse than if you were at home.
I also know how looking forward to your anniversary trip you are. One of my twins and I read your wedding trip report. We loved it, and your photos were wonderful!
Just weigh up the pro's and con's. I know you said the docs have ok'd the flight, but what about the rest of the holiday/heat?
Just make the right decision for you and your family!!

Jules x

I just wanted to add congratulations !!
My only advice re ur trip is follow your instincts only you know in your heart of hearts if you are fit enough to go and I think by asking the question you are probably already thinking its not the best idea in the world to go !
Good luck to you - Go with your instincts !!!!

Congratulations!!

If it's even crossed your mind that you shouldn't go then you shouldn't be going.

Your safety and that of the babies is much more important than losing the cost of a flight and free dining.

Congratulations :cheer2:

First of all make sure you can get good travel insurance and then take the next two weeks to see how you feel and if your midwife and consultant (I am assuming as you are having twins you are until consultant care too) are happy for you to go then do it!

I travelled to WDW at 33 weeks with DD but it was a single pregnancy the ardest part for me was as she was sitting breech she would push up against my stomache and I couldn't eat all the lovely food :rolleyes1 but seriously the travelling was fine and we took it nice and slow with a nice swim in the afternoons.

I wouldn't have travelled against medical advice though and I would get my travel insurance sorted ASAP as then if you cancel you can probably get a letter from the midwife saying it was on medical grounds.

yes I have a consultant and we will be taking it easy and if needed I was thinking maybe of renting a scooter for the parks if the walking gets too much

I have looked into travel insurance and the post office seems good and covers up till 8 weeks before due date

Congrats!!
what a wonderful reason to cancel:)

well im sure im probably biased as i had my dd a few weeks after the 24 weeks your planning to travel, so i have bad experienced but, i think i would be inclined to cancel, so many of the other mums on the unit and on the wards while we were in hospital were twin mummies, a twin pregnancy is way more complicated and so much more can happen, id personally be worried about bp and the heat, and if you have already had complications then i wouldnt risk it you could end up trapped for the rest of the pregnancy over there, unable to fly home.

i havent had complications i just have a very bad case of morning sickness, no complications with the pregnancy.

Firstly, congratulations you must be very excited.

I think only you and hubby will know what is best for you and your babies.

If it was me I would leave it until the final hour before having to pay and then see how I feel and after speaking to the consultant.

I may be in the minority here but I would be tempted to go and have one more holiday as a couple before the babies come along, but then again I've never had twins.

thats what we are thinking one last holiday as a couple and taking it very easy and doing very little but just knowing we are there means the world to us

I will speak with everyone like dr and midwife and see what they say

Congratulations! I thought you hadn't been around for a while.

I have no advice to offer on whether to travel when pregnant, but just wanted to let you know that my SIL (chief bridesmaid) discovered she was pregnant so we had to cancel the trip for her, brother and nephew. Everyone involved was really understanding and we got most of the money back. We'll feel safer knowing she is close to home, although the difference is she will be 7 months!
