We might have to cancel our anniversary trip, i'm gutted. I have just got out of hospital and we are pregnant with twins! we will only be 24 weeks when we return but i'm worried it may be too much

We have to pay disney uk in 2 weeks so we have that time to decide. Flights are paid for direct with VA so doubt we will get anything back from them but it was our first year on free dining and I havent had time to make any adrs as I have been sick for 6 weeks and in hospital for 1

Any ideas on what you would do??

Congrats on the twins! Great news!

What has your Doctor advised? I think it would be best to talk to them and then see how you feel in yourself? It would be a shame to miss the trip, but you have to think that your health and your babies come first and WDW will always be there.

If your doctor/midwife feel that it is safe for you to travel, and you can afford to go, then I say go for it.

You have been before (and I am sure will be going again with the little ones) so there is no need for you to go at it like maniacs. You can make the holiday as relaxing as you like. Sit around the pool, go to the parks for a couple of hours each day, do things that you might not normally do.

Don't worry about the dining. We are there around the same time as you and I didn't have too much trouble gettiny my ADR's. Give them a ring today and see what you can get. If you do decide to cancel then they will cancel your ADR's for you so that won't be ab problem.

I did DLRP when I was 5 months pregnant (and in a heatwave) and still enjoyed it. Whilst I couldn't do the big rides I still enjoyed what I could do and probably did things that we wouldn't normally do.

Hope you are feeling better now.

they have said i should be fine to go and well within the flying regulations. I know I can change it to next year but its our first wedding anniversary and we got married out there so had a bit planned and now I am lost at to what to do

Obi- We havent actually got travel insurance yet so i dont know how we would stand if i buy it today and then cancel the flights next month say, we have never had to cancel a holiday before

We had planned a slower one anyway as we wanted to look for the hidden mickeys and enjoy the food more

Hi,
Just wanted to say firstly congratulations! Also you will get all the taxes you paid with VA back. Our friends recently cancelled their ecomony flights and due to getting a good deal when they booked (i.e. most of the ticket price in the 1st place was tax) they got 90% of their money back. You can see how much tax you have paid on your E Ticket where it will be broken down.

Awwww, congratulations!!! :)

I agree that you should ask your Doctors, hopefully you'll have a bit more strength in 2 months time, but you certainly wouldn't want to tire yourself out.

Hope you are doing OK

what Obi said - check your travel medical insurance...
make VERY VERY sure that you're covered for the pregnancy - it seems to me that this would come under pre-existing condition...

if you should need to be hospitalized in the states, it could bankrupt you and your children and your grandchildren, if your insurance doesn't cover you...

(this actually happened to friends of ours with twins - it was the twins who got sick - the insurance didn't cover the situation and they ended up owing the hospital half a million dollars  )

so what obi said - check your travel medical insurance to ensure that you're covered...

personally, i would get medivac coverage, but that's me...we always get medivac coverage, regardless of destination...

Well firstly - if I had to cancel a trip I couldn't think of a better reason - CONGRATULATIONS!

Personally - I wouldn't hesitate to still go at 24 weeks and just take this things easy - HOWEVER, you are carrying twins and this is something entirely different so you would be better speaking to Mum's of twins and ask how they felt at 24 weeks.

Also if you've already had problems, I would seek medical advise just to make sure.

I doubt you will be covered with insurance as they don't usually cover pregnancy - could you postpone rather than cancel and get a trip in before the children turn 2 and you have to pay??? I'm actually laughing at my own comment because if somebody suggested to me taking twins on a long haul flight I would look at them as if they had two heads and gone mad? But you never know - it may not worry you?

Anyway - do what's best for you and the babies as Disney isn't going anywhere and I bet you can't wait to go with a family.

Anyway, wishing you all the best and remember to take things nice and easy and look after yourself

we are planning on going back next year and taking the twi 8 month olds!!! my parents will be with us so that will make things easier

I'm just torn.

I was in for extreme morning sickness so i'm sure thats now gone and hopefully wont return

Flight wise, if you are safe - go for it. I think that you have doubts though and in that case follow what you feel.

Question though - was your stay in hospital preganancy related? If so, play it safe, your babies and your health is paramount.

You will not be able to go on any rides though, sure you have thought about this already. We lost our first child, we didn't know Catherine was pregnant and when we returned, it turned out she was preganant, a week later she miscarried. We'll never know if it was all the rides.

i just realized who you are!!!!
congratulations!!!!!!!!
i remember i followed all your wedding plans!!!

wonderful wonderful news!!!!!!!!

AAWWW congratulations, what a wonderful reason to maybe cancelling a trip.

Personally I would cancel if I was pregnant with twins, it is completely different to carrying one baby. I don't have twins but my best friend does and she says by 6 months she wasn't very comfy and certainly wouldn't have fancied 9 hours on a plane.

Good luck with whatever you decide and hope you start to feel better soon

A bit of advice - don't be thinking about taking your 8 month olds just yet. Like John Lennon said Life's what happens when you start making plans.

Enjoy today. You don't know what will happen, how you will cope etc...

planning is a great way to pass the time while you're as big as a whale pregnant...

i planned our trip to WDW - we went when DS was 6 weeks old....then again when he was 8 months old...(DD was 2.5 during the first trip)..

Their children are not even born yet....

Well we went down that route of planning, then Daniel had a major eating disorder, followed by the news that he was Autistic, which put a stop to our plans for a year.

I just think when you are having your first child, there are bigger issues at stake to think about than Disney.

I have leaned to enjoy today. That is how I cope.

Congratulations - I have twin sisters and one thing I'm very sure about is how close they are - even after 44 years!

I would construct an email to Virgin explaining that you are having twins and you'd rather wait until next year to travel and give all of the reasons. Ask them can they carry across your money until your next trip. They are usually a friendly bunch of people so you may be suprised and they will allow you to do this.

Good luck
Tina

If the doctors say you are ok to go and you feel well I would go, just take it really easy and have a relaxing time in the sun. :goodvibes

Great News. :)

Personally I wouldn't go, I am sure many would say the opposite but health of your 2 babies is more important.
You will have lots of opportunities to go in the future and I think it is best to be on the safe side.

That is in my opinion speaking with the head, rather than heart viewpoint.

*edited to add "I am not a Doctor so what do I know"!*

best of luck with your pregnancy
