Midship Detective Agency- How late?

My wife and I are going on our first DCL cruise in September. On other cruise lines we have always found things to do later at night between bars typically being open to later, often with live entertainment and there was always a casino to fall back on. However, it seems from the Navigators I have seen that just about every night the ship pretty much closes up by midnight.

I am not 100% sure how the Midship Detective Agency works, but we really are interested in doing them. Is it possible to check in for it earlier in the day and then do them later at night when the ship is pretty quiet or is it loud and does it interfere with other passengers who may be asleep? Does the game shut off when the kiosk is closed?

If it is not possible to do these later at night, is there anything going on on the ship after midnight or is it just a ghost town?

I'd love to hear any thoughts or opinions.

TIA! :goodvibes

All I know about it is that Pepe's door (part of the activity) is actually on the wall of the stateroom next to it and some have reported that kids (and others) have knocked, occasionally loudly, on that door (wall) at various times of the day or night in spite of being asked not to disturb Pepe between certain hours.

Here's a thread about it:

I don't recall seeing hours posted on it anywhere, but other than Pepe's door, all other activities for it are in the stairwells. As long as you can keep yourself mildly contained and not be overly noisy, YOU wouldn't be bothering anyone. The game itself is not disruptive nor noisy.

I believe the Midship Detective Agency closes at 10pm. Probably the paintings won't interact with you after 10.

You can get your card before you play. We got ours one night after dinner and didn't use it until the next afternoon.

I can't remember the name but the bar you could dance in was open until 2 am on the Dream. I only went in once, it was loud with lots of neon lights but great if you have no where else to go. I loved that the Bars closed around midnight, since Disney lets you bring alcohol on board it was a great time to sit back and visit on the Verandha and still get some sleep.

On the Dream it's called Evolution. On the Fantasy it's The Tube.

This is what we were thinking of doing (getting the card early and playing later on). I guess the question I was trying to get to is if anyone can confirm that paintings and whatnot stop interacting at 10 or if they interact at any time?

We tend to HATE the nightclubs on other cruise lines. We can usually handle them one night during the cruise but that's usually all we can deal with. I actually don't hate the idea of making our own drinks and relaxing on the veranda at night. I've never noticed or looked, but is it safe to assume there is a place in MCO to buy alcohol? We are currently planning on flying in the night before and staying at the airport and taking Disney transportation in the morning.

The only places to purchase alcohol at MCO are after security in the international terminal (duty-free shops). You could take a taxi to a nearby story selling alcohol near the airport. Or purchase it at your first port stop.

I wouldn't use other cruise lines' nightclubs as a measuring stick for these. No smoking, usually they are happy to take requests and I've never been in a packed DCL one. Depends on what your preferences are.

The on demand movie system in your stateroom is nice for late nights.

When traveling with friends we are known to bring board/card games and play in the pub or in a stateroom.

You could take a cab from your hotel at MCO to a liquor store and back. Nothing in the airport unless you are coming/going internationally. Another option is to arrange non-Disney transport in the morning and make a quick stop. Finally, you could see if a delivery service could send you some bottles directly to your stateroom.

Anyone remember the name of the delivery service that is popular here? The Perfect Gift? I think?

The times will be listed in the Navigator. After the listed hours, the paintings will not interact with your badge-a message will come up saying that the detective agency is closed.
