Whats the park attendance and weather like Mid-September?

I understand kids are back at school...is that a huge factor?

What about weather?

We checked online booking and rooms were different prices for the two weeks we're looking to go.
I have no problem adjusting from one week to another to save a few dollars on the room at the resort.

Other factors?

Thanks!

I went last Sept and am going again this Sept. I find that the weekdays are generally semi busy, but not extremely busy. With that said, the weekends are still pretty busy and can get a little out of control. If you google "Disney Crowd Calendar" you will be able to see what they estimate (on a scale of 1 - 10) how busy each park will be.

Hope to see you in Sept! Safe travels!

Out

"Low" crowds (If there is still low crowd time...)
HOT! with showers every afternoon (But these don't last usually)
Possible free dining.

We go every year in September and like it.

HOT, hurricane season, HUMID. We haven't been in 6 years, but crowds have been low so worth it for us (one year there was a hurricane threat and I believe a lot of people cancelled, which made the parks EMPTY). I am expecting larger crowds than we have seen before (for WDW- we have dealt with crazy crowds at DL), but hopefully still manageable.

it's hot sometimes face of the sun hot and humid. Just keep hydrating with the free cups of water. Low crowds but Disney knows it and often staffs that way so some attractions will be running at 1/2 capacity - if there are 2 tracks they'll just run one sometimes. Food and wine keeps creeping up in September (used to start at the end) so that will add to the crowds. I think it's a great time to go.

It's hot. Carry something to cool your brow and hydrate. Have ponchos, just in case.( they usually occurred late afternoon- right after we cooled down at the resort pool daily). Be aware that the Food and Wine Festival starts September 14th this year. Weekends are busier at Epcot due to locals arriving for the F&W.

September used to be our 'go to' Disney vacation time when the girls were little....Free Dining and low crowds.

As far as crowds go, I think if there is still a low crowd period at all, I would say this is the closest you'll get to it except for the week before Thanksgiving, and maybe Jan/Feb.

Ditto what others above have said. It is HOT. Stankin hot. But I'd take heat over crowds any day, but that's your call :)

We go almost every year in September (to celebrate our anniversary) and are going again this year. If you don't care about the Food & Wine Festival then the week of Labor Day has really low crowds and typically offers good hotel prices. The other weeks also have moderate crowds but are still very good times to go. The weather can be brutally hot & humid (no, you WON"T need a sweater for the evenings!) so plan for that. Expect thunderstorms every afternoon but they generally pass by quickly. We bring a few dollar store ponchos but we rarely end up using them.

What we like to do is go the week that F&W opens. They have a soft-opening on the day before official opening day, and while everything might not be up & running 100%, it's a great day to try it out with super low crowds. We avoid F&W on weekend so we just plan to go to other parks on those days.

If the hot weather is really a factor, you might want to look at going down later in October or early November. But overall, we like September despite the heat.

Agreed with what everyone else here has said. We've been twice in Sept and found that the week between Labor Day and the start of the FW Festival typically has pretty low crowds. The rest of the month isn't too bad especially during weekdays but Epcot gets packed on weekends during the festival.

It's definitely hot (and that's from someone who lives in TX where it's still in the 90s) because of all the humidity. You also do get the big thunderstorms that roll through almost daily but, like was mentioned, they are in and out in less than an hour.

We go towards the beginning of September, right after Labor Day. Crowds have gotten a lot more busy over the years but still a great time to go. It's melt-your-face-off hot. Stupid humid and can be pretty rainy.
I'll still take the heat for lower crowds though!

Very hot and humid, with generally a lot of storms/rain. The week of labor day still sees lower crowds, but with Food & Wine starting up on Sept 14 and MNSSHP in full swing by mid September, you will be looking at probably higher than expected crowds. Last year, September was very busy compared to past years. I would say the crowds were comparable to summer during our September 2015 trip - but they felt worse due to lowered capacity on rides, less hours of the parks being open, and buses not running as frequent as they do during the summer.

Love going in September, went last year (Sept 12-19th) and thought the crowds were low. Was able to get a few extra fps after my three were done. Definitely hot and humid but it really doesn't bother me at all. Had free dining last year and booked the bounce back offer for this September. :)

Random question for you. :upsidedow Do you happen to have a picture of last year's bounce back offer? We are going this September (15-23) and I wanted to get an idea of the dates usually offered for Bounce Back. Our son won't be able to come with us this trip because of college, so we were hoping to do another trip next year during one of his school breaks.

Imagine a Sauna on high and on the surface of the Sun.

I don't ever want to go in September again.

Traditionally a slow time and when I was there it was a walk-on for just about every ride but the start of F&W has been moved to mid September so you might get more crowds then usual.

If you are okay with heat (and while I hate heat I thought summers at Galveston had prepped me for the humidity, it didn't) then you'll be fine.

September used to be my favorite time to go, even with the ridiculous humidity. However, with free dining, MNSSHP, and F&WF, it has gotten more and more busy each time we go. Still not as bad as other times of the year.

Great! Thank you so much!!

hot, humid, might be a lot of rain, I'd be surprised if it was low crowds.
